View Full Version : DAY 2: Let's start it with a lot of positive thinking!!!

Jan 19th, 2004, 10:02 PM
ok... I will start...

Russian girls are good and they will win all the matches today...

Nastya will blast her back hand all over the court... she'll keep cool and will win.

Tania will return everyone of the 1000 shots from Sugyama... will make her run and hit and run and hit and finally Ai will give it up and Tanya wins 6-0 in the 3rd....

Lina will great again showing variety of baseline and net game (Sprem doesn't like to play against serve-and-voleyers)

Vera will blast her bombs left and right (let's go for 15 aces at least, girl)

Maria will scream her opponent off the court...

Lena L. will stay focused on her game instead of trying to pronounce the opponents name...

Dinara will keep it cool and remember that her tennis family pride is one the line...

Zheng is in much better condition and is better suited than Vera is for long matches. I hope Vera can get up a break early in the third set.

I want to see Vera against Venus in round 2.

P.S. - Well done Dinara! :D

Udachi Vera! :bounce:

Well done Vera! :D

Maria Sharapova is down a break at 2-1 in the first set against Conchita Martinez Granados. Finesse players tend to give Maria a hard time. :(

Jan 20th, 2004, 04:35 AM
Masha quickly took that break back and the first set, too! 6:4 :)

Jan 20th, 2004, 04:38 AM
That was a tough set for Maria to win. Now she needs to build on the momentum of winning the first set.

Jan 20th, 2004, 04:41 AM
That was a tough set for Maria to win. Now she needs to build on the momentum of winning the first set.
She does exactly that and is leading already 2:0 :)

Jan 20th, 2004, 04:45 AM

the cat
Jan 20th, 2004, 05:00 AM
Really? You called Maria that when you met her at the 2002 U.S. Open?

Incidentally Maria has let a 5-0 second set lead get to 5-2. :(

Jan 20th, 2004, 05:05 AM
She's got it. 6:4 6:3 :D

Jan 20th, 2004, 05:13 AM
Pozdravliayu Masha! You're wowderful!

the cat
Jan 20th, 2004, 05:18 AM
Maria had me worried there for a second after letting a 5-0 second set lead become 5-3. Maria needs to learn how to put players away when she has the chance. But Masha beat a finesse player in Conchita Martinez Granados in straight sets. And that's a good sign because she often struggles against finesse players.

Udachi Mashara! :bounce:

Jan 20th, 2004, 05:26 AM
It wouldn't worry me much even if Masha had to play 3 sets.

Like goldenlox's said: Masha can beat Tier III players.
