Hmm.. I'm wondering in particular about the night session because I'm going.

I'm pretty sure that it'll be Justine vs. Lindsay. Someone please post when confirmed. Thanks.

I know what it is...

1. Bjorkman/Woody doubles match
2. Ferreira vs Moya
3. Hewitt vs winner of Phil / Verterk (Verterk is currently winning)
4. Schiavone vs Mauresmo

They're giving Lindsay as much time as she needs ie: before withdrawing, etc.

Thanks, I knew it. They always put the marquee women's semi on the friday night. And I've gone to it for the last 3 years. :)

I can't wait for Justine vs. Lindsay.

HOPEFULLY, NEITHER OF THEM ARE INJURED. But I have a feeling there are going to injury breaks. ;)

There was a rumour going around they were going to give Hewitt the night match but in the end they put him no 3 in the day session.

Damn, watching Hewitt play would be better than watching an injured Lindsay and Justine.

Yeah I think after both confirmed they would be playing they decided to give Hewitt the day session especially after Reid got knocked out - I think if Reid had knocked over Ferreira the two women's singles SF would have been on in the day along with Reid.

Yeah and Verkerk vs Hewitt *ick!*

Okay it's Hewitt against everyone else now :)

ETA: I saw Todd in the Players area after the match and he was in good spirits, joking around, etc which was good - the best part was Hewitt coming out onto the Practice Courts to watch Roger Rasheed be a chair umpire to two people playing a match - he walked out so relaxed, shorts, t-shirt and a pair of thongs (scuffs) ;)

Oh ok, that's too bad for me i spose, this friday night session hasn't really been all the lucky for the past 2 years that I've gone to it. In the year 2002 Serena got injured in the first match and retired after a while, and the doubles we were meant to see Martina & Anna K, but Martina got injured so we saw the presentation, and like another match with some Aussie players, not as entertaining as Martine & Anna. Last year, the singles was fine, Justine VS Kim, but the doubles, it started raining like after a couple of games, so yeah after a long wait they finally cancelled it & post poned it. I just have a bad feeling about Lindsay... :(...I hope her shoulder's ok!!!

Actually I don't know who's got the worse injury the pectoral of Lindsay's or the ankle and blisters of Justine ;)

I was there in 2001 when Lindsay was supposed to play Amelie in the SF and she withdrew which gave her the free entry into the final which she lost *sigh*.

I was there last year as well when it rained out the final and they had to come back the next day and Kim had to back up with singles and doubles ;)

That was an awesome singles match last year between Justine and Kim though.

I'm trying to think of the record of who usually wins the ones that play in the day or night..

I know 2002 and 2003 it was night - 2001 it was day - I'm trying to think if Lindsay or Amelie had the day or night session in 2000, because Amelie won that year while Lindsay won in 1999.

It's always an interesting stat to look at though :)

Basically I think both players will play, try to see how far they can push themselves, if there's a chance of damaging their injuries any further one will retire injured because they don't want to ruin their chances at the AO.

Thanks for the schedule! :D (BTW, I'm sure that Amélie and Lindsay played their final in 2000 in the daytime....)

Bonne Chance Amélie!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: (sorry Francesca... ;) )

I wasn't talking about the Final - I know it was in the day :)

Their Semi Final matches - it's tradition since the move to Homebush that one match is on in the day the other at night...

I know all except for 2000:

2000: Mauresmo (?) Davenport (?) - winner Mauresmo
2001: Hingis (day) Davenport (night w/o Mauresmo) - winner Hingis
2002: Hingis (night) Shaughnessy (day) - winner Hingis
2003: Clijsters (night) Davenport (day) - winner Clijsters

ETA: Regardless of the result, whether there is a w/o or not - Lindsay's record here is one that will take a bit of beating (whether it be the dodgy runner-ups, or just the record itself)..

She has the dodgy honour of being the winner of the most runner-up singles titles (5), winner (1) and SF and QF appearances (3) - so making the final at least 6 out of 9 occasions at the start of a season is quite an achievement :)

In 2002, it was Hingis who played during the day and Shaughnessy who played at night. I remember because I was there when Serena rolled her ankle. :p

I was pissed. They should've put the Hingis match on at night since she was playing Clijsters. A bigger match. I mean everyone assumed Serena would win.

But that year, I also went to the finals so I did get to see Hingis play but anyway...

I was thinking something was wrong with that pic <g> I remember Shaugnessy getting through via an upset - heck it was the year of the upsets in 2002 <g>

They just said on the news' weather report, that people in sydney should take their Brolly (Umbrella) with them since there will be a few showers throughout the day and night with showers also predicted for Saturday... this is last year all over again

Sorry about Linds.

if they were starting the first of 2 mens matches at 1500 and they go the usual 2 hours plus would it be logical for them to start the first womens final in the evening slot where Justine/Lindsay were? If so I can go to bed....
Come to think of it any network that was going to televise Justine/lindsay will probably show the other match now anyway? definitely time for bed...
