The highest new entery of the week is VICTORIA BECKHAM at # 3
Here is the top 10:
1- Michael Andrew/Gary Jules - Mad World
2- Ozzy & Kelly Osbourne - Changes
3- Victoria Beckham - This Groove/Let Your Head Go
4-The Black Eyed Peas - Shut Up
5- Alistair Griffin - Bring It On
6- Will Young - Leave Right Now
7- The Darkness - Christmas Time
8- Shane Richie - I'm Your Man
9- Sophie Ellis Bextor - I Won't Change You
10- Atomic Kitten - Ladies Night
No.3 is very respectable but she's still not yet achieved what her band mates all have .
Still, Victoria :yeah:.

:haha: She failed to make No 1 even in this week, the slowest chart week in the whole year. (Let Your Head Go is actually not bad, and the video is bloody fantastic. This Groove is rubbish though, horribly 57th-rate British R&B.)
It irks me that the Gary Jules version of "Mad World" is No 1 when Alex Parks's version is much better.
Will Young is the best thing in the top 10 :D

She said that she doesnt really care about chart position, just getting her music out there(Makes sense since she prob doesnt have to work for the rest of her life!)
I'm glad she did well though! :)

Jan 4th, 2004, 08:19 PM

I just wanted to quote you on that so you couldnt ever deny saying it. :p
And you're not wrong about Alex Parks. The sad thing, if she hadnt sung it on Fame Academy, the other version would never have been dug out again....SHE should have the Xmas #1...

We.ll i think it has promise, but really should have done better, given all the money they have spilled into this project, time will tell, mainly in the album sailes figures...

Sorry, but This Groove is absolutely terrible. I don't know how it even ended up at #3. Maybe Let Your Head Go is better, I haven't heard it.
Sophie's song IMO is nice, but nothing special. Still better than Victoria though.

Hehe I find it hillarious that you silly Brits base your chart positions on single sales:p . Doesn't radio play count for ANYTHING?:o  Hehe and that "bloody" thing is very very cool. In fact, I think I'm gonna start a thread about it!

Are you serious? I cant believe that in the States last week Madonna was the best selling single and yet didnt feature in the Billboard Hot 100  What more should determine the popularity of a record than how many copies it sells? Just because of a DJ with an agenda, or a record company can afford to pay stations to play its tracks more often, songs get into the US charts without even being bought. Its weird. Admittedly you do have several different types of charts which break it all down into sales/airplay etc, but I much prefer our system...

:yeah: Well done Victoria. Glad Sophie's in the Top 10 too. :D

I read that she sold nearly 23,000 or something like that.
Jan 5th, 2004, 07:10 PM
thats pretty good for the first week of the year I remember Aaliyah was at number one selling something like 6000 copies
Jan 5th, 2004, 07:14 PM
Will Young's album sold just over 5000 copies to get Number 1. Gone are the days it took selling millions of records to get to Number 1
Jan 6th, 2004, 03:38 AM
i guess the other acts werent that competitive for will young and aaliyah ;)
Jan 8th, 2004, 02:41 AM
I can't believe only 6000 Brits bought the CD Aaliyah the first week it came out.
I haven't heard Victoria's tracks, because frankly no one care about her here , they rather listen to Blink183.5 and other dumb bands.
Jan 8th, 2004, 08:58 AM
Poor Victoria, still can't get a number 1. Maybe its time for yet another image change :P
Jan 8th, 2004, 10:01 AM
Go Go Vicky!!!
Let ur head go is pretty good but i hvenn't see the MV yet but I do like MV of "NOT SUCH AN INNOCENT GIRL"
Jan 8th, 2004, 12:09 PM
30,000 is pretty respectable but a far cry from the 300,000+ that 2 become 1 sold in it's first week of release.
Geri's been dropped, Mel C's been dropped, Mel B's been dropped - just Emma and Victoria left and then maybe they'll finally realise that there's safety in numbers ...
Jan 9th, 2004, 11:03 PM
thats pretty good for the first week of the year I remember Aaliyah was at number one selling something like 6000 copiesOn the charts website it says Aaliyah sold 32,222 to get to number 1 and also released it in the same week 2 years ago that Victoria released her song which is the lowest selling week of the year.
Victoria Beckham's sales would not even get her above 7 or 8 on a normal week. She deliberately picked this low selling week to release this and still could not outsell everyone.
Jan 10th, 2004, 12:12 AM
sorry Geri I just remember reading that It was in the sun so probably not true - It was talking about people getting to number 1 from beyond the grave reaching number one because George Harrison was the week after Aaliyah. those sales r good for Victoria since singles sales have dropped so much - anyone see her on top of the pops tonight? emma was singing her new single aswell - p.s I dont think Geri's ben droppedyet I read in the paper she's planning a comeback !
