This is a c/p... it could be way off, I mean look at the song title they list......

---------------------------------------------
Mel C will become the latest Spice Girl to be dropped
by her record label, according to reports.

The pop star, considered the only member of the once
unstoppable girl band to have any commercial power as
a solo artist, will lose her deal in 2004, claims a UK
tabloid.

Melanie's latest single, 'Melt', limped to number 27
in the UK charts last month, seemingly confirming her
dramatic fall from grace in the pop world.

Her debut solo album, 'Northern Star', was a big
seller in numerous territories, with the single 'Gotta
Tell You' reaching the summit of the US singles chart
in 2000. However, LP follow-up 'Reason' stalled in the
charts.

A 'source' at Mel's label Virgin has claimed that the
record company are "no longer convinced she's got the
potential to carry on."

Melanie C's public profile has been seriously damaged
after she suffered a serious knee injury on UK reality
TV show 'The Games'.

I'm sure she would have sold more had she not been injured and been able to do the necessary promotion that everyone else does. She had bad luck :(

The second album wasn't as good I have to admit. As a Mel C fan, I was dissappointed, especially since "Northern Star" was so good and chock-a-block full of potential hit singles. No fillers in that one. It was great pop music. I hope the third album will see her return to her best. :)

I was also disappointed with "Reason" I mean there was a couple of good songs on the album but it still wasn't as good as "Northern Star"

Ouch! Well, that could be expected, the new CD really didn't follow up the success of the first one. "Northern Star" was very good, although I'll nver understand why was "If That Were Me" made a single, I think her career took a downhill since then.
And WTF is "Gotta Tell You"?

There was an article in The Sun about Mel being dropped and it also mentioned Irish singer Samantha Mumba being dropped. 'Gotta Tell You' was one of her songs and I think it got to number 1 in America.

Mel's denied this rumour. She says "Reason" will be released as a single this year at some point and that she will be begin work on a new album this year

samantha has a new album coming out in 04 -------- she's ben working on it for ages, I hope Mel isn t dropped - northern Stars success was always going to be hard to follow and she didn t have a big hit to help it either
