Cheap Pens :p

Glad somebody made this thread... I brought it up in the massive NHL (and uh, cock) thread in the chat section, but here we can just focus on the Juniors. Woohoo!

I have to miss Canada's first game, sadly, but look forward to seeing this Crosby kid. Saw Ovechkin last year after hearing all the hype about him, so hopefully this new kid doesn't dissapoint ;)

Found this on another board:

For those who cannot pirate satellite signals, all canadian games on radio, on "The Team" radio network throughout Canada. Here is the Montreal station site. http://www.team990.com.

That doesn't help people who want games that don't just include Canada and lack TV coverage, but it's better than nothing.

Back from the match. Disapointed but realistic, we didn´t have a chance. Easy shutout for Fleury, Crosby in 4th line but was in PP unit, some glimpses of talent. He is put of balance pretty easily.

Other results
Slovakia - Russia 2-2, Austria - U.S.A. 0-8, Czech - Ukraine 8-0

Todays results

Sweden - Austria 7-0  Switzerland - Ukraine 11-0

As of playoffs. Canada and Rossija (is that correct ...) should reach semis as group winners. And Czech and Slovakia as seconds. Leaves battle for 3rd between Finland and Switzerland. And Sweden and USA.

Worst scenarion both Sweden and Finland go to relegation series. Actually that looks quite possible. Once there was hockey talent in here....

The 10th goal of Canada today or their next goal whatsoever will be the 1000th goal Team Canada has scored since 1974! :woohoo:

I didn't expect this match to be tough. I think that it's good for Ukraine that a team has made it all the way to the WC, they just don't have the power to compete with the top teams. They give a good effort, though, it's very honorable! :yeah: :)

Russia   :p

What is going on with Russia?! :tape: :p

Yeah. Have to give USA serious credit of their play so far. They actually might edge Russia from direct semifinal spot. That Slovakia draw looks to be costly at the moment. (SOG were about 50-20 Russia, but only goals count)

Finland - Ukraine 14-1 :D  (Ukraines 1st goal of tournament)
Slovakia - Austria 6-0

Last group matches tomorrow.

Group A

Russia and USA battle for group win Sweden and Slovakia battle for 3rd place , draw enough for Slovaks

Group B

Canada and Czech play for Group win, Canada wins the group if they draw or win. Finland and Switzerland play for 3rd spot. Rougly, plenty of other options that include goal diffirence.

Finland bt. Switzerland 2-0 (SOG Finland 40, Switzerland 8 (1+1+6) )
Slovakia bt. Sweden 1-0 (scored 59.24, empty net ?)

Quarterfinals (friday)

Slovakia - Czech
Finland - Russia :( (lazy Russians would have need to net only one more goal against mighty Austria, not laughing at that score anymore, or lose 1-3 or 2-4 today to avoid us :( )

Only one favorite in this. Hopefully good home support lifts our team to new heights ;)

Wow, didn't even see this thread before. If I had I would have gloated about my boy Zach Parise, who is coincidentally enough the tournament's leading scorer. I still can't believe that he was passed over as much as he was in the draft. What team drafted him again?

Oh my, that Russian goalie is not happy with that goal. Half speed wrist shot, no mask and from blueline. He just looked it go past him. Poor him, hopefully he is not in the army ;)

Don´t worry TBE, you won this 2 years in a row. Now someone else wins it. :wavey: (and it was only 7th time Finland beat Russia/Soviet Union at this level, don´t know how many times they have played, but 100 is fair guess) For me Canada has been best team so far. But in only one game lot can happen, as mensioned many times before.
