It wont be aired at the same time throughout the world will it? There might be a time difference problem. So that must mean some countries will get longer to vote than others?

Everyone gets 24 hrs to vote. The voting begins after the show is over and goes 24 hrs.

But, Jakub, would you like him to be so very sweet and telling everyone "You are great"?? Kuba is OK.

Moim zdaniem kompromituje on Polskę.

Ta scenka z krawatami i wódeczkami ......dno.

http://www.idolonfox.com/worldidol/images/world_alex.jpgAlex – Poland
Alex – real name Alicja Janosz – was born in 1985 in Pszczyna, Poland. First performing onstage at age 10, Alex partook in various festivals, concerts and workshops as a youth, all working up to a 2002 audition for the Polish version of Pop Idol. After singing songs like “Bo we mnie jest seks” and “Moze sie wydawac,” Alex won! That November, Alex’s debut album, “Ala Janosz” was released and two singles from it became hits.

http://www.idolonfox.com/worldidol/images/world_kelly.jpg Kelly Clarkson – United States of America
The first winner of American Idol, this Texan’s story has been well-documented. Over 50 million people watched the finale when Kelly was crowned American Idol. Kelly was asked to join the choir at age 13 when a teacher heard her singing in the halls. Following her dreams to Hollywood, Kelly had to return home nearly destitute when her L.A. apartment burned down. Upon her return, her best friend Jessica suggested she try out for American Idol and now here she is!

http://www.idolonfox.com/worldidol/images/world_peter.jpg Peter Evrard – Belgium
Now famous for being the first winner of Idool, Peter was already known in his native town of Vosselaar because of his performances with his band Disobedient in the heavy metal café Biebob. His long hair and satantic goatee have become a trademark, and although he had to move heaven and earth to convince the jury he was suitable for the show and sang Nirvana during one performance, Belgians voted him their Idool.

http://www.idolonfox.com/worldidol/images/world_diana.jpg Diana Karazon – Pan Arabic
During her childhood in Jordan, Diana was encouraged to sing by her family of musicians, especially her guitar-playing father. Before “Super Star,” Diana had participated in numerous operas for the King of Jordan, and represent her country in the “Dubai Amateur Festival” in 2000. After traveling to Syria for “Super Star,” Diana won the competition, and her debut album was launched on September 30, 2003.

http://www.idolonfox.com/worldidol/images/world_alexander.jpgAlexander Klaws – Germany
Almost 13 million Germans watched as Alexander was crowned champion in the finals of “Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar.” The 19-year old singer humbly admits “I don’t really feel like a superstar,” but his talent indicates otherwise. His musical talent was discovered by parents and teachers, who guided him toward piano lessons and performing in bands. After Germany found their superstar, both Alexander’s first single and debut album went to #1, which is the same place his current single, “Free Like The Wind” went when it was released.

http://www.idolonfox.com/worldidol/images/world_jamai.jpg Jamai Loman – The Netherlands
This 16-year old winner of Dutch Idols 2003 has quickly become one of Holland’s biggest celebrities, and his quadruple-platinum single “Step Right Up” has topped the charts for weeks on end. Jamai’s wide-ranging voice thrives in many different genres, from ballads to party tunes with South American flavor.

http://www.idolonfox.com/worldidol/images/world_ryan.jpg Ryan Malcolm – Canada
Over 16,000 people signed up to sing their shot, but when it was all over, Ryan Malcolm was crowned the inaugural Canadian Idol. One week after winning the title, Ryan was holed up in a studio with some of best songwriters his country has to offer. That intense writers’ camp led to the untouchable #1 single, “Something More.” Meet Ryan Malcolm, the real deal.

http://www.idolonfox.com/worldidol/images/world_kurt.jpg Kurt Nilsen – Norway
In May 2003, half a million cheering Norwegians threw their votes in the air for the plumber from Bergen, Norway’s second largest city, electing Kurt their idol by a small margin. The fact that Kurt has two kids and girlfriend probably contributed to his popularity with Norwegians, but he’s continued to charm his way through interviews since the competition has ended. Both Kurt’s debut single, “She’s So High” and debut album “I” went straight to #1.

http://www.idolonfox.com/worldidol/images/world_guy.jpg Guy Sebastian – Australia
Just six months ago, Guy was a 22-year old from suburban Adelaide who juggled two jobs and loved tearing around the Adelaide Hills on his Yamaha 250cc bike. Today he’s a genuine cultural phenomenon whose voice, charisma and afro have captivated a nation. Guy’s debut single, “Angels Brought Me Here” became the highest-selling Australian single in Australian music history in only two weeks.

http://www.idolonfox.com/worldidol/images/world_heinz.jpg Heinz Winckler – South Africa
Born in Stellenbosch, South Africa, this 25-year old has come a long way since he studied law at Sellenbosch University. After bursting onto South African TV screens by winning the first South African Idols competition in 2002, Heinz started taking the global scene by storm. His debut single, “Once In A Lifetime” went double platinum, and Heinz has already been declared one of South Africa’s sexiest males.

http://www.idolonfox.com/worldidol/images/world_will.jpg Will Young – England
Will was always an unlikely pop star. He has a degree in Politics, reads The New Statesman and can eloquently hold forth on a diverse variety of topics. Will’s first album scored five #1 hits, has performed for the Queen and has become a style icon in Italy. And after twelve months, Will is returning with a new single, a new album and a whole new musical lease on life.

There's only one big talent on thats how and thats Simon Cowell. The rest are pop muppets. Apart from perhaps Kelly Clarkson... she has a few ounces of star quality. The rest? smh

She didn't choose it - every song was choosen by organisers... And Alex said "I don't knwo how to kill him" when she has informed about main organiser's decision... So she wasn't happy with that too. She would choose a song with more energy for sure

My "YES" for a girl who represented Arabian countries, because she was just "different" and sang really well (but I also watched with a pleasure this man from Belgium and Kelly... Will sang very well, but I won't vote for him, because organisers gave him too much support - these all lights effects and which is the most important : SONG!!! It was his single with this special arrange etc. - and they gave Alex a song from an old musical that probably none remember...)

My "NO" for guy from the Netherlands - he tried to be a copy, which is just horrible, but it's also not the end - he was VERY BAD copy...

I also would like to say something about Alexander - when I see a man with a face like a girl and who tries to dance and copy all gestures from the worst boysbands from 90' I really have nothing to tell about the voice, because ... it's not important for me after I see something like he did...

Go Diana Karzon or whatever her surname is ;) !!!

It`s strange if it`s true . Look at Will Young. He sang the song he is famous of "Light the fire". Also Diana Karazon sang in her language can`t imagine anyone else being given that song. So they must have had at least small influance on those songs.

it IS true and it's known from a very long time - they couldn't sing a song from the "Final of Finals" but one from the other final concerts... A man who has choosen all songs was Simmon Fuller (the same who started "Pop Idol"). Something written by Alex in Polish about it :

Regulamin mówi, że zwycięzcy pierwszych edycji idola z wszystkich 11 krajów w których się odbył, muszą wykonać jeden z utworów, które zaśpiewali w finałowych koncertach, ale nie może to być piosenka, którą wykonywali w ostatnim koncercie. Ponadto, to sam Simon decydował, co każdy z nas zaśpiewa. A że ma wielką wiarę, ;P wybrał dla mnie balladę z musicalu "Jesus Chris Superstar" pt. "I don't know how to love him". Kiedy się dowiedziałam o tym, pomyślałam: I don't know how to kill him!!! :) Ale później myślałam nad tym i poczułam, że tak ma być i koniec. Więc zaczęłam się modlić... :)

OK anyone who knows anything about singing knows that Kelly Clarkson was by far the best. She cleary was the best singer there and best Pop idol.

I thought Guy,the norweigian guy were also good.

The top 5 should be

1.USA
2.Norway
3.Australia
4.UK
5.Belguim/Canada/South Africa

the other 4 i doubt will be anywhere near top 5.

Will and Guy maybe the other way around.Trying to be as impartial as i can thats what i think should happen.I doubt Kelly will win though based on probably bad feeling towards the USA maybe even the UK too.

He was not the worst, but still I don't know how the UK picked him. But don't feel attacked by me, because I also don't understand the Belgians in their choice to pick Peter. Why on earth do people confuse these SHIP HORNS with a beautiful voice? Is this an American thing? Coz they have plenty of these ladies whose voice make me physically uneasy when I hear them: Whitney, Mariah, etc...

The only one of that kind who really has a great voice IMO is Céline Dion coz she can tune it down when necessary. But the others, that is just plain yelling!

The opnions on this thread are confirming what I thought all along- Kelly has no chance to win no matter how good she is. Being an American will hurt her chances.

At least she is making herself known to the world as a good vocalist. Maybe people who won't validate her with a vote for World Idol will buy her album since it isn't part of a contest.

I couldnt agree more, she definitley does. Although I am kind of fond of the guy from Norway, he doesnt have a bad voice at all. But total package wise, its Kelly...... Good luck Kelly!!!

Are you guys kidding me? Kelly does not know how to sing well, she knows how to yell well. She sucked, I think Ryan was okay, and the Norway guy was good, the rest sucked.

Yeah Kelly sucks.... Her record sales and amazing record of having the top selling single outside of only the Beatles, thats right the Beatles, does all the talking.

I was really impressed by the pan-Arabic idol and the Norwegian guy :yeah:. Kelly and Will were the most polished IMO (reflected by the fact that they're stars already) and I still can't get used to Ryan's singing style :o

I did not like the edititing job. They edited out all the *really* catty comments we'd been hearing so much about :(;). My parents were actually outraged at the judges, especially the Polish one, but I guess that's the reaction the show was made to produce. I think they didn't spend enough time on the judges so we didn't find out enough about their personalities. (I wanted to know why many of the Belgian posters 'felt that way' about the Belgian judge  )

why are some people here claiming kelly clarkson will win due to her 'popularity and fame'? i had never heard of the girl before last night, at least none of her singles or albums have been released in belgium (well to my knowledge :D)). or is she selling well in anglosaxon countries?

I've never heard of that Kelly-girl either
When reading this thread I'm getting the impression the Norway guy has a good chance to win :) Would be great :worship: I could have slapped that pancake-Simon-judge in the face when he was giving his comments on Kurt....ugly people? How on earth can a person have such a lack of respect?

I thoughT Guy did Australia proud, but some other contestants were quite ordinary. Kurt, the Norway guy was good, but he needs to fix his teeth ( sorry I had to say it). That Polish judge was loco but he cracked me up, with what he said to Will Young.

I was surprised at how mediocre the show actually was. I thought the World Idols would make Guy look bad, but I thought he was one of the best there! And that says something
My thoughts on the contestants:

Alex – Poland: Shes a cutie and has a lot of charisma. A pretty good voice too. Shes good on stage but i think she might sound very ordinary on a record. When I first saw her pic she looked scary, but on stage she was just a little cutie.

Kelly Clarkson – United States of America: She was one of the best. She can sing really well, she has such an amazing voice. Shes also very good looking. I think that and the fact that shes had much more time than the others to establish her fame will carry her through to win, but I hope an underdog will win.

Peter Evrard – Belgium: He was impressive, a very good rock voice. I liked his personality too, he handled himself well when the judges were saying his style wasnt appropriate. It would be good for him to win, for something different.

Diana Karazon – Pan Arabic: She has a very good voice, but its more classical and tradiational, and not very mainstream, which audiences might not be used to. Also the fact that she was not singing in English means she probably wont win. Her song was beautiful though.

Alexander Klaws – Germany: What a joke! I agree with Dicko, it seemed more like a comedy routine than a serious competitive performance. He looked like a maniac himself dancing around like that, and his voice wasnt good. It was my most memorable performance of the night, for all the wrong reasons. Easily the worst performance of the night. I honestly dont know how thig guy won the German Idol.

Jamai Loman – The Netherlands: He was ok, but not a standout. The only thing distinctive about him would be his glasses. I cant see him winning. Not a very memorable performance.

Ryan Malcolm – Canada: I liked this guy. He has a great voice and a distinctive look. Something about his personality and the way he sings and presents himself conveys a sincerity i see in few other performers tonight. It would be good if he won.

Kurt Nilsen – Norway: I didnt like him. His voice was very ordinary, his stage presence was non existent, his looks, well lets not go there. I think he must have got a lot of votes out of sympathy when the judges ripped him for being ugly because I dont think his voice is any better than most of those other idols.

Guy Sebastian – Australia: I didnt think that was even close to his best performace, yet he was still one of the best tonight. He could have chosen much better songs that would have suited him more. Yet he still did a decent job. Surprisingly one of the best voices of the night, and the only one to have any real audience interaction and movement on stage. I'm not a Guy fan, but I hope he wins, he would deserve it.

Heinz Winckler – South Africa: Good voice, good looks, nothing really memorable or stand out about his performance. I'd be surprised if he won.

Will Young – England: Didnt like him at all. Not good looking, average voice at best, and he pretty much looked dead on stage, just stood there like a stunned mullet. His background effects were so lame, yeah, blasts of fire whenever he sang "light my fire", how original  It was just laughable. I hope he has better songs than that.

I dont know why the judges talk about record sales as some kind of indication that the performer is good. Everyone knows that with these shows, whoever wins will always sell a lot of records, regardless of whether their song or voice is good or not. The viewers just buy the records because they know them from the tv show, not because of any talent.

I will tell it once again - none from Idols have choosen a song for yesterday by himself... It was all choosen by main organiser, Simon Fuller from UK (um, er... Will's song....) - it is sure information, for 100% :) So they couldn't choose a song that will show more of their talents, only Will could probably do it ;)

My top 5...

1. Kurt Nilsen (Norway)
1. Peter Evrard (Belgium) Okay, I don't HAVE to produce the romantic smilies to show how I feel about him... *siiiiigh* ;)
3. Will Young (GBR) (My patriotic vote... ;) )
4. Alex/Alicja Janosz (Poland) (I really liked her personality... )
5. Alexander Klaws (Germany) (He sang "Maniac"!! From "Flashdance"!! Aaaaah!! *excited* ;) )

I didn't see Guy Sebastian as I was on the telephone at the time but I hear he is very good indeed... :) Maybe he would be up there too... :)

I don't believe Will Young wanted to do this show - he has 'moved on' from this show if you like with recent double #1 in the UK charts. He's been so successful recently with "Leave Right Now" (single) and "Friday's Child" (album - it's had fantastic reviews). He's been almost two years since he won "Pop Idol" here... So I guess it was quite strange for him to be back in front of those judges again... :)

Oh and on the subjects of arseholes! That Polish judge is an idiot! He knew nothing about singing. Why was he there?I'm glad Simon Cowell had a go at him!

I completely agree with you!!! that 'Judge'(If you want to call him a judge) was thick as shit!!! Saying Will Young sings like Mr. Bean  I just want to say Well done to Alex(Polish Singer) for not wanting to be associated with him!

Will was awful! What the hell are you on?

Will just has a distinctive voice and sounds different he is a great singer.Obviously its a subject you know nothing about.

No of them were awful.

I agree with you again, Will was no where near awful!!!!

The Polish judge sounded like he'd preprepared all these mean comments and was just reading them off a piece of paper without looking at the performance  He was indeed bad.
Simon Cowell seemed like he was putting them down just for the sake of it, not because he really thought they were bad.
Apart from those two, at least the other judges seemed honest. Although some made really stupid comments, like one said "you have to work on your voice". I'm sure that would be a lot of help  What aspects of their voice do they need to work on?

So how come they allowed Peter to sing a Nirvana song and Diana to sing a song in Arabic

There is a point in the rules : Every singer must sing one of the songs that he sang during final concerts, but not the last one

Diana sang probably all songs in Arabic (we didn't hear anything in English in that short video before her performance) and Peter sang probably all rock songs except this one by Ricky Martin... That's it

EVALUATIONS:

BEST FEMALE VOCAL: Kelly Clarkson - She put on a great performance and that voice of hers is by far the best thing all night. She's also the most experienced Pop Idol when it comes to dealing with the public and it shows.

BEST MALE VOCAL: Guy Sebastian - I normally don't like Guy, but he was a cut above the rest. His arrangement wasn't to my taste but he represented Australia well. He didn't really do too much wrong.

HOTTIE IDOL 1: Alexander Klaws - Mmm, yummy... That was all he was good for. What a "maniac". ;)

HOTTIE IDOL 2: Heinz Weckler - He did okay, but what a cutie. He'll sell regardless of the crap he releases. :kisses:

HARDEST TO JUDGE: Diana Karazon - I didn't understand what she was singing obviously, but I still found it hard to judge her. Her audition tape sounded off-key to me but the Pan-Arabic judges thought she was brilliant. So I don't know.

IDOL WHINER 1: Ryan Malcolm - Why are waiters all so snotty?

IDOL WHINER 2: Peter Everard - A sour disposition to match a sour attitude. Geez, Louise.

MOST OVERHYPED IDOL: Will Young - I didn't think his performance was all that great. It sounded lazy and boring. I'm surprised any of the judges found it good. He has the voice but where was the energy? It fell so flat. He sounded so much better winning Idol.

WEAKEST FEMALE VOCAL: Alicja Janosz - The song didn't suit her and she seemed uncomfortable performing it.
WEAKEST MALE VOCAL: Jamai Loman - He sang okay but it probably wasn't going to win him World Idol.

SURPRISE PACKET: Kurt Nielsen - Eek! His voice was great but I don't really like him. Still, he should place highly. Or even win it.

MY POINTS:

12 - AUSTRALIA (Guy Sebastian)
10 - USA (Kelly Clarkson)
09 - NORWAY (Kurt Nielsen)
08 - UK (Will Young)
07 - PAN-ARABIC (Diana Karazon)
06 - CANADA (Ryan Malcolm)
05 - SOUTH AFRICA (Heinz Weckler)
04 - GERMANY (Alexander Klaws)
03 - BELGIUM (Peter Everard)
02 - POLAND (Alicja Janosz)
01 - NETHERLANDS (Jamai Loman)

BEST OF THE NIGHT: Kelly Clarkson - Without a doubt. She didn't need sympathy to back up her cause. She doesn't need to ride on that. She went out there and sang her heart out. No pretense. No bullshit. Did the job and brought it home like a seasoned pro. Stunning, talented, personality plus.

WHO SHOULD WIN: Kelly Clarkson - She is the complete package and has all the talent in the world. But this could work against her. No one likes to see a total success become totally successful.

WHO MIGHT WIN: I don't know, but it probably won't be Kelly, unfortunately. I'd say Guy "Gollywog" Sebastian or Kurt "Hobbitt" Nielsen could take it out if she can't. I'd be surprised if it was anyone outside of those three.

I felt really sorry for Jamai from the Netherlands - I think he's only 16 or 17... His comments were very harsh indeed... I'm pleased our UK judge Pete Waterman was nice to him... :) (Thumbs up Pete!! :yeah: I do not always say THIS... *blush* ;) ) It wasn't my favourite performance of the night but I thought it was okay... I watched the show ... But everytime the jury came, I wanted to zap to another channel. The American and Polish judges were really annoying. The one from Canada too ... I was glad that the two female judges (the Belgian and German one) were there ... Their opinion was always what I thought. Simon is really biased. I bet that if Belgium had sent the runner up Natalia, who sings almost exactly as good as Kelly if not better, he would have found her bad too ...

My points are like this:

12 - Peter (Belgium): he was good, but shouldn't win; I'm glad that he had an argument with Simon
10 - Kelly (USA): great voice, nice look, I wanted Natalia to win in Belgium, so she should win here
9 - Kurt (Norway): great song, great voice; if Norway didn't look to his appearance but other countries do, then they are shallow, mister Simon
8 - Guy (Australia): nice style, good voice
7 - Heinz (South Africa): good looking, nice voice
6 - Will (UK): he looked sick on stage and his performance was mediocre, great voice though
5 - Alexander (Germany): fairly good voice, good looking, gay performance, but I liked it
4 - Diana (Pan-Arabic): I like oriental music, I liked her song & voice but I can't see her selling much cd's ...
3 - Alex (Poland): I like her big mouth, but mediocre performance
2 - Ryan (Canada): I got very irritated by the constant switching of the microphone in his hands, annoying to look at, voice was OK
1 - Jamai (the Netherlands): mediocre, not bad but he was just the least best

I'd put Peter in the 7, 6 or 5 area ... But I live in Belgium ...

And with Simon Cowell and the "ugly" comments - I'm a little surprised because Simon was such a supporter of Michelle in our "Pop Idol" and stuck up for her when other judges were critical about her appearance and image... *sigh* Simon had gone up in my estimation then... I think that calling someone ugly is something that can really really hurt...

My overall ordinals based on the performances:

1. Kelly Clarkson (USA) - She did a great job, her voice sounded very clean and the choice of song was a very good one too. She showed good energy on stage and I think she is a heavy favourite to win.

2. Guy Sebastien (AUS) - The song itself wasn't doing much for me, but he still had a good enough voice to overcome that and show off his talent. His presence on stage was also strong and he was probably the best male singer of the night.

3. Diana Karazon (Pan Arabic) - The song and style of the song will likely keep her out of contention from winning the competition, but the performance itself was good, she has a beautiful voice and I think she has a lot of potential to do well in her own market.

4. Ryan Malcolm (CAN) - Pretty solid performance, he sang well, picked a decent song and again, a good energy behind the performance too. I am not sure he quite has the flair that Guy Sebastien has, but a respectable effort regardless.

5. Will Young (GBR) - I don't think it was one of Will's best performances but still better than many others were able to pull off. I wasn't feeling a whole lot of energy from him, but it was a classy performance and there is no denying that he can sing. I would have chosen a different song.

6. Peter Evrard (BEL) - Again, another respectable effort. I think he could surprise, the style was obviously very different from the others and I think that the people will be behind him as somewhat of an underdog. Didn't get to show off as much of a vocal range as perhaps the top 5, but still the performance was good.

7. Alex (POL) - One of the judges said something along the lines that Alex had a pretty decent voice but perhaps didn't know exactly what to do with it, and I agreed with this. There were parts of the performance where she sounded quite good and at other times a bit off and I think she is still a bit rough around the edges. She had great energy to her though, and the stage presence is so important and this helped her.

8. Kurt Nilsen (NOR) - I think his singing was more solid than Alex's, but the energy was just not really there. He lacked a bit in that performance, he didn't really sell what he was singing, and the voice itself was not amazing enough to standout as a favourite.

9. Heinz Winckler (RSA) - Again, the personality part just killed him. He seemed very stiff on stage, his singing was decent but nothing special to remember and although he should get some votes based on his looks, he just didn't have the performance part down.

10. Alexander Klaws (GER) - I felt bad for him really because the judges really ripped him apart, but honestly it was just not any good. His singing was average, and while he did try hard to do something more upbeat and with energy it came out as too forced and not something natural from him. While others lacked the stage presence from not doing enough, Alexander was the proof that there is also such thing as going way too over the top.

11. Jamai Loman (NED) - Similar to Alex that you could see a few moments of potential, but he just didn't pull off the song he performed. Lacked in energy, but he is young and to make it to World Idol so young is respectable in itself.

As for who will win, I really think it is going to come down to Kelly, Guy Sebastien, and Will. Can't see any of the others winning, but good luck to all of them :)

I know I'm biased, but there really is no competition. Kelly won it hands down. She has the voice, she has the look and the most important, the stage presence. She doesn't have to flip her hair or do some doofy dance routine....she just carries herself well on stage. She has been a natural since her first audition. Sure, she can throw a few extra trills in here and there, but hell, she can pull it off. I never cringed during her performance and I felt embarassed for a lot of the singers last night. I thought Kurt from Norway had a great voice. He was a bit "Hobbit"-ish. He won Idol right....he can't afford to have his teeth worked on or get a decent haircut? Ok. Even Clay Aiken spiffed himself up and he's by no means a hunk. I also liked the short bit of the Aussie guy (missed his performance). I didn't think that Will guy was very good myself, but then again the song was awful for him. On personality alone, Alex was adorable, but her song sucked. Props to the Arabic girl for singing her style, but it left me "meh". Peter was cool for his style, but had a bit of an attitude, IMO. The rest of them were pretty lame. The production was atrocious....what the hell were those camera operators on? I felt like suing for whiplash on a couple of those crane shots. WAAAAAY to fast zooms. And the fire was ultra-cheesy. Seeing those two bozo hosts, I now know who to blame for the duo that was Brian Dunkleman and Ryan Seacrest. Now at least we just have Ryan, who is tolerable (he's much funnier on radio, which he just quit :( )

Kelly SHOULD win this, but I'm thinking there will be a lot of sympathy votes for the "ugly" guy or just plain off Anti-American voting, so who knows. Kelly is probably one of few that doesn't NEED to win it, so it's no biggie.

He had his own method of explaining it, but the Polish judge was correct:
Only three original and marvelous performances that were not fake:
-Kurt
-Peter
-Ryan
BTW not by accident the three older contestants

I personally like his style of presenting it, but most people don't see through his amusing comments.

The guy that 'played' US judge, Simon, was the real moron, it was obvious he, by all means, tried to promote the US contestant, Kelly. I hope people see through his low attempts to bash everyone but Kelly and, of course, the UK contestant, Will.
He thought hmmm easy win for Kelly, but then came Peter, and he couldn't give some grounded critic so he gave the moronic comment: you're fake. I'm glad Peter put him on his place!
He was still recovering of Peters grounded critics on him, and then came Kurt. Then he really had to do it the dirty way, because Kurt was really brilliant. So he just sad he was ugly. Can you get any lower than that!

BTW Simon has proven to everyone in the US and UK to be a moron by bashing the ultimate winners during the competition. He had to take his words back then and he will also have to do it now.

BTW The canadian judge correctly noted that kellys voice isn't all that compared with the best. And her voice is the only thing she has to play out, her performance (not including her voice) was nothing. She apparently knew that and tried to focus the performance on her voice, she wanted to score with her voice, and that resulted in shouting, making the song terrible to listen to.

BTW Simon was saying that Kelly has already 'world' wide succes, I'm certain most people outside the US never heard of her, including me. Many US citizens apparently don't know the world is much bigger than the US, or are they just plain ignorant?

guy, kelly and will were the only decent performances and they were world class, being an australian and following guy all the way through australian idol , he did not sing that well by his standards, also he has gone through some tough times lately (a fan collapsed at one of his gigs recently and was in an unstable condition for awhile) no excuses, he still did a wonderful job and imo was best of the nite. i thought kelly was 2nd best of the nite and will 3rd. kelly didnt really show what she can do with her voice, didnt she sing that song in american idol and do an uber in it? she should have done that on world idol. and btw pretty much all of australia's top 12 were better than most of the contestants except for kelly and will and guy who is an oz anyway. even a few of our top 40 contestants would have done better eg. rebecca tapia, yolande jackson, costa.

but our top 12: guy, shannon, COSIMA, paulini, rob, lauren, cle, peter, kelly, bek and matt well lets just say IMO (dont blast me coz its only my opinion and im allowed it) i think they should have taken australians top 12 series and named it world idol and it would have been of higher quality thatn this world idol because it truly was.

Oh NO NO NO!

Although i agree with you in saying those three were origonal they were not the best. Will is origonal in his singing voive but was better than those three you mention.Kelly may not be very origonal or different but she was by far the best singer there. Her performance didn't need to be flashy as her voice is just outstanding.

The canadian judge was totally wrong.Kelly is the only contestant from any pop idol i have seen who could stand up to all the divas.

If you knew anything about the music industry a 'rocker' like Peter would not do Pop idol or world idol as its an establishment thing and they are usually anti-astablishment meaning he is fake.
His reply of how would i get a record deal is stupid. If you are talented in that style of music you will get signed. As i know because my brother will proably end up with some kind of record contract.

I'm so tired of hearing crap like this, just because USA has a lot of successful people. If you are saying that you haven't heard of Kelly, well then I guess you must live in the outskirts of town. And if you seriously think Ryan and Peter sounded better than Kelly, you must be dreaming as well. I do admit that Kurt had a great voice, but an idol has the whole package, all he has is the voice.

By the way, I think Kelly didn't choose one of her best songs. I was surprised she chose the song she did, especially since so many of her other songs are better.

I also thought it was quite funny how the Canadian judge compared Kelly with divas, rather than anyone on the World Idol stage. She's obviously better than anyone there, and I doubt she, herself, thinks she is better than the likes of Celine Dion or Mariah Carey etc. etc. anyway. Perhaps then we should compare Ryan to Kurt Cobain?

I wish your brother lots of luck indeed... :) But I don't think getting a record contract is that easy at all... These shows are not good for the industry - look at all the acts who are dropped by their label because they do not get instant success... In the UK charts if a song does not get to #1 sometimes it is deemed failure!! And I do not think these reality shows really help... (Yes, I know I watch them... *sigh* ;) )

I'm really pleased Peter stood up for himself - Goooo Peterrrrrrr!! :hearts: :D How people like Simon Cowell and Pete Waterman can say that he is 'fake' is really beyond me... Especially at this time of the morning... :o  ;) I apologise if I do not make sense with this... *blush* ;)

I was thinking the exact same thing when I was watching it. Anyone from our top 12 could have represented Australia and have a fairly good shot at winning.

I don't think Guy's performance was his best by any means. I was surprised he chose that song and not 'Climb Every Mountain'. I don't think 'What A Wonderful World' was a good choice. He wasn't able to show what he is fully capable of. It sucks that they only sing one song coz they don't get to show how versatile they are. I mean, it's hard to crown someone as WORLD IDOL based on one performance. The chances of having the right person winning is pretty low.

i think the main thing people need to make sure they do, is choose a song that fits their voice, one that they don't have to struggle to hit the right notes.

Belgium ( :yeah: for telling off the judges!!! :hearts: good song, good voice-i reckon he could go far seeing as he doesn't seem like one to conform and some people admire that)

Norway ( great voice!!!! don't you love it when the underdog wins?! :D his voice fitted the song and i think that was something you had to do to impress the judges )

Australia (not to be bias or anything- but he did a great job :yeah: i didn't particularly like the song he chose but he adapted it well to suit him and that's a sign of a great singer. GO THE FRO!!! :bounce: )

Canada (rather indifferent...although it was an alright song...)

United States (one of the best by far!! although she did seem to be a little 'Alicia Keys' with the look and the style, still she did a great job )

South Africa (great voice! he has the right look and it was a good song-adapted well)

Great Britain (didnt really stand out to me. i think it was the choice of song  but his voice is good and he has the right look)

Pan-Arabic region (considering i couldn't understand a word of what she was singing, i think she did a great job getting her point across-great job! :yeah: )

Poland (she seems a little too young to do this  isnt there an age limit? i know here it was 18 years and over. still, with her voice needing to mature, she did a good job. shes so energetic! shes soooo cute!! the song didnt stand out, but she did her best and it impressed me, especially the fact she is so young)

Netherlands (again-he's too young. didn't like the song, his voice needs maturing, but give it time and i think he could be really good)

Germany (well the song sucked...'she's a maniac' isn't one i personally would chose to sing at this kind of competition, and he needs to improve his moving on stage, still he has the right look and maybe with a better chosen song, he would do a little better-but his voice was pretty good :yeah: )

That's ok Rottweily. In fact, your views are similar to that of the Canadian judge, in that you are in total denial. Do I think Kelly is the best because she is American, uh no. The lack of understanding on what a good voice is astounds me as I read all the messages on this thread.

For all those who think that German loser had a good voice I ask you this ... did you have the volume up when watching. He was FLAT the WHOLE song. It's never a good idea to sing and dance at the same time - it generally makes you sound sharp or flat.

The judges were fools - complaining about how odd looking people keep winning Idol but since when was Idol REALLY about music and talent. Its all about who people LIKE the most - whether they can sing has NOUGT to do with it. Just ask Rob Mills from Australia Idol. He made it to the final 5 based on his bed hopping abilities more than anything else.

World Idol SUCKED - they were all awful with the exception of Kurt and Guy...

And that English guy - whats his name - Will?? OMG talk about cruxifying a legendary song first sung by a legendary singer. Its an insult to good music that people like Will Young are allowed to sing those kinds of songs.

PS Was he surgically attached to the microphone - and did he leave his personality at the door. What a total pussy!

Yes the German was totally flat he sucked! As was the South African who held onto his notes too long! Sure he was a hottie but thats all he had goin for him! They were clearly the worst two acts of the night.

Then there was the Canadian Lanky Beanstalk, good voice but didnt help his cause by try to move on stage, he would have been better to stand still. But not as still as Will in his poofy cardigan, the guy didnt move an inch. Sure he can sing but he needs to dump his stylist, he looked like a punce!

The Netherlands guy was just average in all aspects.

Best Acts of the night,

Kelly - USA - Great Voice, has the look, has an unfair advantage in that she two years up on most of the other contestants.

Kurt - Norway, if he lost some weight got the teeth fixed he be more appealing but he had an awesome voice, I was very impressed.

Polish Girl - Wrong song but the girl has attitude and spunk to her, she can also sing too. Really liked her, very appealing

Guy - He's performed better but still a good performance from him

Belgium - This guy did so well to get this far considering the show is for "pop' acts and not 'rock' acts. His performance was good, he has a powerful voice.

Diana - Love more cultural acts, she had a great voice. Hope she has a lot of success in her region.

I can't understand why people keep saying that Kelly woman has such a great voice. OK, I'm sure if she opens her mouth and unleashes one of her yells, most people will listen.
BUT: if I'm not mistaken, she sang "You make me feel like a natural woman" of Aretha Franklin and if you compare Kelly's version to Aretha's, well... Aretha's voice is so smooth and greasy and just drips into your ears. Whereas Kelly's voice is so shrill and enters your ears like the noise of scratching chalk on a black board. SHIVER. There is absolutely nothing subtle about Kelly's voice. I know her performance is the kind of performance that impresses a lot of people but I think these are people who do not know a lot about music.

I think Australia shows the results live January 2nd 6.00am and then replayed that night. I think Guy was great and did Australia proud and as that wasn't his best performance so he will only show the world better. Also the newest Idol just a month or so ago.
My other favs.
Kelly was great, had the look which the others didn't really have. She also was the one I expected the best performance out of.
Alex, Cute Personality +++ with a nice strong voice
Peter, Good voice, different style
Jamai, Nice voice

Don't be mistaken: Will is not the first one to come up orchestration of "Light My Fire". There is a guy called José Feliciano who has a similar version of this song, a bit Spanish, Latin style. An unexpected but very good version IMO and I think Will did not do bad at all; he has the same kind of voice as this Feliciano guy.

That's ok Rottweily. In fact, your views are similar to that of the Canadian judge, in that you are in total denial. Do I think Kelly is the best because she is American, uh no. Just those who aren't in denial and hard headed can admit that she is good instead of using the common excuse of her being American for being successful.

I think Kelly is good but you also have to admit that shes more successful than the others because of a number of reasons other than talent. She was the first American Idol so she had more time to establish herself and to release and sell records, than Guy for example, who only just won Australian Idol a few weeks ago and hasnt released anything overseas yet. And American Idol would have had more viewers than any other country just based on the population, and hence the winner of American Idol would sell more records than the others. And Americans have the better contacts and worldwide influence, they like to promote themselves globally, more so than smaller countries. So just because Kelly is known in other countries doesnt necessarily mean shes the most talented.

Fantastic

I'm tired of this "underdog" bullshit. If people sympathize with them because they're ugly or because they got bad comments from judges, then are they really "underdogs" if they always have sympathy going for them? Do they really deserve to win based on sympathy over ability? This contest is so fairy-daisy-chain-la-la-PC it makes me sick. I agreed with everything Simon Cowell had to say. There wasn't anything he said that wasn't untrue and what most of us weren't already privately thinking. He just verbalized it for us. Good on you, Simon!!! If they're not the complete package, then these "underdogs" just don't deserve to win. Is this World Idol or Big Brother? Snap out of it! This contest is clearly between Kelly Clarkson and Guy Sebastian without any of this "underdog" bullshit.

Poor Jamai :o He really has a nice voice, although uptempo might have been a better choice for him (or Always on my mind :hearts: ). I think he did well, and he sure 'sparkled' more than Canada or South Africa :o

About the judges, they didn't show the harsh comments he got over here, but Jamai said he didn't really care. His mother did care tho, she said that if she'd known what the show would have been like - judges having a competition who was the meanest over the back of her child - she wouldn't have let him compete :yeah: They could have done the show much better without those comments IMO.

It seems that people think that because they know something about music that their opinions are right compared to somebody else's opinion. All I've read here is you know nothing about music, you must be stupid, etc... Since when do you need some kind of training to know a good song/singer/voice?? Since when is taste in music based on facts and not on opinion? Some singers have sold millions and millions of records and won dozens of awards but that doesn't mean that everybody will like that singer. Opinions differ and they are just that, opinions. When I like a song, I don't think I should need to say why I like it by explaining tones and notes. It's like a painting. You don't need to talk about shades and colors to tell somebody you like it, you can simply say that you like it. Songs are pretty much the same, at this level anyway!

Lol Harloo. I'm not the biggest Guy fan but I think he did pretty well and was perhaps the most talented one there.

Amen to angele87! Kelly's a good singer, however she is not on the level of divas such as Aretha, Whitney, Shirley and Diana. She does screech a little too much for my liking, and I was wishing during her performance that she'd actually sing the song instead of trying to force it down the audience's throats.

But she has great songs anyway and is the biggest star by far.

to be fair, someone raise a good point that Kelly has more advantage and exposure purely becuase she is the winner in USA, but you have to realise what also apply is that she faced more stiff competition due to the larger pool of people applying, so it is kinda a trade off, the person who win in US will probably more likely to become global, but the chance of becoming one is also less than those who are of different nationality

pigam

Oh get real
I'm so tired of hearing crap like this, just because USA has a lot of successful people. If you are saying that you haven't heard of Kelly, well then I guess you must live in the outskirts of town. And if you seriously think Ryan and Peter sounded better than Kelly, you must be dreaming as well. I do admit that Kurt had a great voice, but an idol has the whole package, all he has is the voice.

Oh please she sold millions of record in the USA? What does that mean? It is not because you sell a lot in the USA that the whole (there actually ís a world next to the US  ) world knows you
Do you know -let's say- Clouseau, Johny Halliday, ... ? They both sold a lot more in their respective countries in proportion to Kelly. So don't say it's crap. Cuz it just isn't :wavey:

Ok obviously a lot of people hear haven't heard of Kelly. My main point was that I figured that most fans of Idol would know Kelly, since she (in my opinion) is a good singer, and was the first American Idol. Even I knew who Will was, England's 1st world idol, so I guess that's why I figured people posting here would know of Kelly, since you all seem to be idol fans. Anyway I guess that's not the case.

Anyhow tfannis, like I said, Kelly really didn't use her best song singing natural woman. I think when she sings (or if she sings again) on the final show, you'll hopefully get to see that she doesn't always yell :p She's a great singer.

That dress is gorgeous... :hearts: I want it!! I wonder how much it cost her... I wonder how many years I will have to save money for it... :bigcry: ;)

Congrats Kurt!! I was happy that he won too... :) And I was also happy to see Peter in third... :) I'm pleased that no one had a hard time in the voting...

I think the Belgian judge is attractive - I would like to look like her...

Again, Congrats Kurt!! :D Congrats Idols... :)

Well, the people have surprised me with their great taste!! Based on the perfomances of those songs, I think Kurt is a deserving winner. I assume all chosen idols can sing very well, maybe not all are as good in expressing emotions. And off course personal liking has got to do with it too. But an idol is someone who many, many people adore for whatever reason.

Maybe Victoria didn´t sing live but she has nothing to prove, I´ve heard her singing live sometimes and she does pretty well. And about the dance... She used to dance a lot in out of your mind.. I don´t know what happens with let your head go :retard:

Wow as an American I still can't believe how Kurt won. I mean he does have a great voice and if u first look at him it doesnt even look like he can have such a voice! Kind of reminds me of Clay Aiken (American Idol's 2nd winner) but Kelly has more talent IMO but i dunno maybe the World likes an underdog?

The guy from Norway won, Kurt I think his name was. And Kelly was second, like 9 points away..

Congrats Kurt! He did have a good voice.
