View Full Version : Lindsay played some of her best tennis this year on the green clay!

I've been going through my inventory of matches on tape and I couldn't help but watch each one of Lindsay's when she played at Amelia Island and the Family Circle Cup. She stormed through the first rounds, played an incredible match against Zvonareva at the FCC (only lost one point at net, won something like 25/26, and had almost twice as many winners as errors), lost to Serena (who was on fire) but gave her a run for her money; at Amelia Island, she lost only 3 games into getting to the quarters, then demolished Patty Schnyder 6-1, 6-1 (32 winners and 8 unforced errors); after a little lapse in the second set, she beat Capriati in the semis, and yes she should have beaten Dementieva, but that can't take away from how well she played.

So, I guess what I'm saying is, what is the reason for this sudden excellent play on clay (she was even playing well at the French before she hurt her foot)? I never understood why clay wouldn't suit her game; the ball sits up so well for her to whack them away for winners, on both red and green clay.

I expect good things from her next year, on ALL surfaces!! :bounce:

I agree! I only have the Schnyder match, but it was amazing!

I hope Lindsay wins many titles this year

I forgot to add that her match against Schnyder was so impressive that Patty told her after the match the she never played against anybody who had played so well before; at times, Patty was even laughing because it was such a ridiculous display of power tennis.

This match is a must-have for all Lindsay fans!

I really think that there was a difference between Lindsay Clay-play from pre-knee injury and 2003. It seemed like she adjusted her clay game and that SHE LOVED IT. I was thinking today that she should have a really great clay season and make it to at least the QF at RG. Goooooooo Lindsay!!!!!! :D
