Woman's tenniis - The number one is in Florida
Henin starts working again.
26 novembre 2003 - Paolo Leonardi
After 2 weeks of vacation, the number worlds number 1 already started to train. It will never be to much to get ready for 2004, certainly if she wants 2004 to be as good as 2003 with 2 grand slam titles and a winter on the highest position...
The vacation is over. After 2 weeks in Moorea and Bora Bora, 2 islands of Fransh Polonysia (?) where she has been swimming with dolphins, Justine Henin finds her way back on wednesday to the trainingcourts in Saddlebrook, Florida. She will stay there untill december 17th when she comes back to Belgium to play 2 exhibitions and to celebrate Christmas with the family. After that her mind will be focused on the last straight line of her physical preparation in Harry Hopman Academy for Australia.
When she arrived, the number 1 of the world was welcomed by Pat Etcheberry, her physical trainer, who was counting down the hours to start (???? not sure of this one ) I had several phone calls with Carlos Rodriguez during his holliday in Paris, 4 days in Disneylad Paris. The first week she was very happy to be sitting in the sun, the second week she started to think again in long terms and the last days she was getting nevous to get started in Saddlebrook... a work that was very well elaborate. Car s’il fut parfois aux premières loges pour assister au triomphe de sa joueuse (à l’US Open notamment), Etcheberry, plutôt que de verser dans une admiration béate, ne s’est pas privé de noter ce qui n’allait pas. (??? Can't get anything usefull out of this sorry ) About the training Pat says: my work will be as building a house. First we need to make the foundations before making the roof. The first week will be focused on Justine's general condition. I've been watching tapes to study her movements. In the second week, we will work more specific. Some new excercices will be introduces but we wont change everything. On the famous grass courts (where Justine runs her 100 and 200 meters and pulls weights in a trawl net) and the beach volley ground where she works on her movements everybody talks about.
Etcheberry has some negative points that he saw in 2003 where he want to work on. First of all Henin doesn't move correct anymore. Carlos Rodriguez would like to see Justine hitting her forehand (a stroke that got better this season) on a certain way where she has to be in a perfect position to hit. Pat Etcheberry confirmed that she has to work hard on that point. She also has to hork on her service movement. Carlos Rodriguez noticed that Justine already made a great progression in her service in the past 11 months. He noticed that at the USOpen Justine won her matches with a first service percentages of only 49%. The problem is based on her hips and that's something Pat has to work on. Another 'black' point is stress. Both mentors agree that Justine appears to stressy in a match. When she's nervous she loses more energy than in a normal situation, Etcheberry says. Look at the cramps at the USOpen (more than 3 hours against Capriati) they waren't normal. Moreover Justine doesn't sweat good (?) She has to work away the disadvantages of stress situations during the workouts so that it will harm less on court.
It's just to try to solve the problems with the suply. A endocrinologist joined the medical staff in Wallonne. When matches last 2h30-2h40, Justine doesn't get 100% fit after 48 hours, Rodriguez said. I want to follow up her eating habbits (?). Do you know Justine drinks less than a normal person? Well people have to drink 2 liters a day .. Justine only drink 1.5 liter, that's her maximum. Those bad habits from champions as Henin aren't unusual. The biggest sporters have bad habbits when it comes to food, Etcheberry told us. That's why drinking and eating is important.
Another change ifor 2004: Etcheberry want to be more beside Carlos in the stages. He already marked it in his agenda that he will attend 2 tournaments in Europa (clay courts). Before RG, where Belgians number 1 has to defend her first of two slams, Pat Etcheberry wants to be prepared for everything. It will look great for Justine!
Ok I did my best I know it's isn't very good english but with a bit of fantasy you can make something of it I think!
