I believe the award has to go definetely to Kristina Brandi who in only 6 months this year has lost 3 matches after having won the first set 6/0

Kristina Brandi comes out "smoking" in just about every first set she plays but her game is very ordinary and anybody who is even marginally good at tennis can figure her out easily. By the third set Brandi is usually totally worn out. That's why she's never done well on the circuit. Her father was a tennis coach at a college so you would think she would have learned how to pace herself. :o

Unfortunately, Serena ALSO joins this dubious group for her loss to Martina Hingis at the Canadian Open in 2001. First set 6-0. She aggravated a foot injury in the second set attempting a showoff overhead, while up a break and retired early in the third trailing 0-3.

She plays a little smarter now.

Pierce lopst to Rubin 6/0 4/6 2/6 in oz 2003

Pierce always wins the first easily, then plays the 2nd set close and then falls apart in the 3rd

There's another thread floating around about players who won despite receiving a bagel. It's late and my brain may not be working right, but wouldn't each of the losers in that thread be candidates for this one?

BTW, I love these types of tennis trivia threads. I don't see how you guys can keep up with it.
