I just read on an Austrian Website that Hantuchova had just a sugery on her shoulder.

So is she going to miss the AO? Or was the surgery minor enough to keep her in?

The article was about Fed Cup from Austria against Slovakia and they wrote that she isn't sure to play there because she had sugery on her shoulder..

Why are people so cold hearted. Your only interest is whether or not she will miss the OA. Your first reply should be I hope she is o.k. and everything went well. Being able to play at the AO is irrelevant at this point.

Get well Dani.

Is that shoulder part of the reason why she was struggling so much this year? She hadn't told us anything about it.. so it may have been bothering her a lot behind the scene.
Anyways, get well soon, Daniela and look forward to seeing you play great again!

Again, who cares about defending points when you are not well. People get a grip and know where your priorities are. Geeze, people can be so calous.

Calm down, space. She's an athlete - I don't think it's that out of bounds to wonder what this will do to her athletic ability.

Is there a link, perchance?

It's not that but it just gaul me to think that the first thing someone would ask is if she will be able to play the AO. Don't you find that cold?

No - I find that fairly logical. She plays tennis for a living and has what sounds like a tennis-related injury.

If the story had been that she'd been in an accident or had a more serious health problem, that might be another story.

Well, I guess I see things different. Because those questions were just cold.

Space, this is a tennis board.

All of us, including you, only know of Daniela because of her tennis. The majority of us don't give a damn if she's "feeling well".

We don't know Daniela in real life. We know her from watching tennis.

Maybe I'm a little dense but I do not get your post. I guess all you are saying is you do not give a damn whether she is well or not as long as she goes on the court and play tennis. To hell with the injured shoulder just swing that racquet and get the ball over the net to your opponent. Oh, and by the way keep the ball in play we do not care if you are in pain or not.

I always try to be empathic to others.

Easy easy!! I respect your stance and that's very good. But don't take it out on others OK? We all wish her best and hope her quick recovery. It's not like we don't give crap if she's well or not. We do give a damn!

It seems as if every player I like is injured right now...Lina and Daniela can just join Venus, Anna, Monica, and Jackie in being inactive.

Oh well, such is life. Hope they all get well soon!

Also, wondering if Daniela will be able to play A.O., isn't necessarily disregarding her feelings or her health. Obviously, no one wants her to play if it affects her health, so asking if she is going to be able to play at the A.O or hoping she will be able to, is only expressing a hope that her injury wasn't extreme and that her rehabilitation time will be quick. That's wishing Daniela all the best.

that is exactly what I am thinking.
I know Daniela was having problems with her shoulder around the first round of Fedcup when Slovakia played Germany, but haven't heard anything about it since. She didn't pull out of any tournaments recently, the only tournament she didn't play was fedcup vs belgium, but didn't withdraw from a tournament.
I would have thought she would have had the surgery earlier and withdrawn from Linz, Zurich etc to have it.

Sorry the article is not anymore on the site, they make the site actual every 5 hours. It was on www.Sport1.at , an Austrian Sportspage.
They have very good information, so I don't think it's fake. They also wrote that Janette Husarova is thinking about retire.

I don't believe this is true. It's not on her official website (where the last news bit mentions her playing hopman cup in january), and it's not on any other tennis news site like Yahoo or CNN/SI.

Is it possible, J Capriatifan, that you misread what the article said?

Ok, it could be true. It's just weird that is hasn't cropped up anywhere else. I would've thought Hantuchova is high profile enough to warrant a news story on another site.

to have surgery it really has to be a serious recurrent problem which I never heard Daniela having, so I seriously doubt it

Given that Dani doesn't have much upstairs inthe way of muscle, this sounds like a ligament problem, or maybe a rotator cuff.

OK doctor, where is the evidence? All we have is a German Capriati fan spreading a rumour that he can't back up. The website has mysteriously lost the article and there is nothing in the news archives on that website. Until I see some proof from either IMG or someone close, then that leaves us with little option than to dispel this rumour.
