I was 8 years old in Saddlebrook,Flordia (I got to train every summer) , and they were holding small tourney's , I had won all the 8 and under tournaments , all the 10 and under , all the 12 and under , and I won 4 of the 5 14 and under tourneys , and I was in the finals of a 16 and u. tourney and i held :( 9 :( Match Points and lost all! I lost 6-0,5-7,6-7
I was up 5-0 in the 2nd and 5-2 in the 3rd

But you cant really be mad when you are a finalist of a SADDLEBROOK , one of the worlds best traning camps, 16 and under tourney at 8! :bounce:

I've never lost a match where I've had a match point, surprisingly. That probably has to do with my inability to win any return points.

I once won a match saving 6 MP's though. One of my infamous 6-7 7-6 7-6 wins. I served 3 DF's to go down 0-40 at 5-6 in the 3rd set. Broke a racquet, and swore my ass off. Service winner, service winner, easy s&v, ace, service winner... 6-6... then saved 2 more MP's in the final TB which I won 9-7.

I've won, saving match points.

I was losing 6-4 5-1; and I won 4-6 7-5 6-4. I saved 1 match point.

I once had set points, but lost. I lost 7-5 7-6(8-6). I was losing 5-0 in the first. And I was down 5-3 in the second. I got up 6-5 in the second--where I had 4 set points. I saved 3 match points in the breaker 6-3.

4...my serve is pretty bad, and especially back when this match was played. I led 6-4 3-6 5-4 40-15, and double faulted twice. Then after saving a break point, I gained the AD before spinning in a really weak second serve which was returned for a winner. Then again I had the advantage, but sent a backhand into the net. My opponent ended up breaking me, then went on to hold and break me once again to win 7-5 in the third.

i only played one singles matfch for my tennis team before i quit [because my coach was an asswhole and screamed, belittled, etc me after the match]

i had lost 6-4, 2-6, 6-7 (5-7)

i was down 6-0 in the tiebreak... cam storming back to get to 6-5 but double faulted on the 6th match point... kind of off topic but i know i would have won that match if i got that second serve in.. i was so determined...

i won my only doubles match 6-1, 6-3 though... we had a match point at 5-1 .... 3 more at 5-2 and it took us 4 more match points at 5-3 to close it out [we went up 0-40... up the duece then took it]

I once lost a match 21-19 fifth set having match points. And I once won a match 24-22 saving match points.
The guy I played both times we go almost always the extent. When I lost 21-19, the week after I played him again and was so mad that I played the best tennis of my life, I won 6-0 6-3 6-0.

Once I was up 5-2 in the third and had six match points and lost 6-2,2-6,7-6(7)

on one of the match points I missed a shot by about an inch and on my last match points I double faulted.

2. i was down a set and 1 - 6 in the tiebreak of the second set and regained to win it 7 - 6 and 6 - 2 in the trhird.

AHHHHHHH icky doubles match for school last year. My partner and I were up I believe 5-1 and had matchpoints at 7-5 (it was a proset) and went up 6-1 in the tiebreak (for a grand total of 7 matchpoints) and WE STILL LOST!!!!! I have never come back from matchpoint down (granted I don't play many matches as I DETEST them.)

I lost a match after holding triple match point, double match point, and two other match points. I won a match down 0-6 7-5 0-5. I was serving to stay in it and saved six match points. It was a 17 minute game, but after that I really came back, and won it 0-6 7-5 7-5.

In doubles, me and my partner had like 10 match points, maybe even more. We lost like 10-8 in the third set. That sucked.

This summer, I played a friend of mine, we always have good matches. I was up a set and I can't remember, maybe 5-3 or 5-4 and I had 40-15 and I wound up losing that set and the next one 61  I won the fourth set 61 and I cant remember if we played a 5th - I dont think we did. We just kept on playing after the third set, so it wasn't stated if it was a 3 set match. It was not easy tho and I felt bad. I beat him the next time we played 61 63. Whenever we play, its almost a guarantee that one of us will have a meltdown.

I've never had match points before losing a match. I had set point and that stuff. For example, last saturday, I lost 3-6 5-7. I had 2-0 and serve in the first set. Then the other guy went on to lead 6-3 2-0. After that I won 5 straight games and held some set points, but I lost them all.

I've had a match where I saved 9 match points.

I won 6-7(5) 6-2 7-5.
I had two set points in the first set with 6-5, but I lost them. Then I went on to lead 6-7 6-2 3-0. After that I lost 5 games, and the other guy held nine match points with his serve, but I just passed the ball and he made all the errors. I saved the last match point with a passing winner and then I managed to win the match. Oh, the fucking match lasted 3:40 hours :fiery:

I remember playing the most exhausting match against my brother three or four years in the middle of summer. It was on grass but we are both baseliners who detest the net so long rallies were VERY common. Anyway, i had never beaten him and we'd played about 40 times before and finally i thought this was my turn. It was a set all and i led 5/4 in the final set a nd 0-40 on his serve. The first two match points were long and i ended with two pathetic errors. On the third i decided to chip and run to the net to try and shock him into an error. He tryed a pass and i hit a volley rite in the middle of the court but he still only managed to scoop up a little dolly shot that i then shud hav smashed or just hit a little volley away. Neway i tried to smash and got in a total tangle and dumped it in the net. I lost the next 10 points anf the match 7/5.
I was so upset i had bin soo close i nearly cried.
I still remember that match!

Surprisingly, it happened to me only one time, and I was 11 and playing in a 18 and under tournament and I wne tin the finals and had 1 match point in the seoncd set and one in the third...I lost 3-6 7-6 7-6...But the guys was 17...And I know that right now at 16, I would kick his ass lol...

But it happened to me many times I saved match points to win a match...Ill always remeber that time I beat the guy 4-6 7-6 7-6...Few weeks before I had a amtch agisnt him and saved 2 amtch points to win, and in this one he had 5 match points in the second, but I won it, 7-0 in the tie break lol...In the third he had 4 other match points, and I won it 7-0 in the tie break....I remember one match point where my rackets slipped out of my hands and fell in the back of the court after my shot...I ran, got to my racket, took it back and came back to hit a winner...I was so thrilled!

I had a match when i lost 12 MPs :o :o :o. It was in an 14-and-under semi final (i was 10) against a 14 year old.

I was leading 6-2 5-1 (40-15) and i progressively choked over and over again, until i lost the second set tiebreak 10-12. I then went 5-2 up in the third - holding 2 MPs losing 2-6 7-6(10) 7-5. But i had so many chances, so i have no excuses apart from i am a choking wee midden.

i have never lost a match after holding match points. but my doubles partner and i did lose some sets in our high school matches after holding set points. one time we were up 5-1 had so many set points, at least 20 and ended up losing the set in a tiebreak, 7-5. than the damn rain came, it was such a let down because i really wanted to re-group and win the match. its so mental, holding those points, losing them, and realizing that you should have won the set already. i find the mental part of tennis the hardest by far, tennis is so fun and so frustrating at the same time.

Listen, folks, Capriati has nothing on me. I used to be great at closing matches. Now I let some nerves creep into my game in some really tight situations. Two losses really stand out. I was up 6-4, 6-6, 6-0 in a tie-breaker several years back. I let it slip and he clobbered me 6-0 in the third set. More recently, I was playing a great match, leading 6-2, 4-2 0-40; I let him back in. I lost two match points in the second set, which I lost 7-5, and three more match points in the third set, which I lost 7-6.

My best comeback took place 25 years ago when I played No. 1 for my high school tennis team. I was playing a guy who was considered the best in our region. He demolished me the first set, but I clawed back and won the second set. We went to a third set tie-breaker. Back then, we played nine-point, sudden death tiebreakers, meaning the first player to win 5 points wins the tie-breaker. This guy went up 4-0. I saved two points on my serve. Then the guy with the great serve coughed up a doublefault; I passed him and then hit a great service return that he volleyed over the baseline. Five consecutive match points saved! It was a good day!

Never lost having had matchpoints thankfully, but also have never come back to win a match having been down matchpoints either.

Closest scenario was a match where I was leading 6-2, 5-3, had I think 3 matchpoints in the next two games but ended up losing it 7-5, thankfully was able to hang on in the third and win 6-4 though. :)

Nope, never lost a match having match points. but yes, I never saved any either. What I'm known for is the number of times I save SET POINT down. It's either I lose a set or I win the set. Often my matches are scores such as 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. All I need is one break and my opponent will go down:). Strange? Maybe someone should remind me that I need to choke a few times lol!

I'm more mental oncourt than Alex Stevenson and Lucic put together. I've had many many matches where I've held MPs and still lost. I think the most MPs I've held and still lost was probably around 4. one match i led a 6-3 4-0 against a friend named Andrew (who I usually beat easily). I lost that match 6-3 5-7 0-6 after having two MPs at 5-4 . I've never beaten him since :(. it's like that was my ultimate doom
