INteresting Question!!!! I think Wimby or US Open 2000 when Venus proved she could be the best....Beating Hingis in two great amtches in both was great! Especially that smeifinal which ill always remember!

Hi cdpoulin! ca va?

My faves would be Australian Open 1999 for the results, US Open 1999 for the greatest matches and Australian Open 2001 for the same reasons! I also loved US Open 2000!

well, its usually been wimbledon cuz well, its wimbledon. plus, venus got her first slam there, novotna won there. the only drawback there was that steffi won too many times

now i love the french open. most of my faves win there. kim had her breakthrough there, justine won her first slam there, andre completed his career GS there, serena FINALLY won there, mary won there, arantxa won it 3 times...

The Monica-Venus match, the Monica-Martina match, the Kim-Jennifer match, the Jennifer-Martina match. Such high drama.

Can't decide between:

1999 US Open
It seems EVERY match on the women's side was a classic.

2000 Wimbledon
Venus had the toughest draw; being out 6 months, playing in her FOURTH event of the year, and she wins. Amazing. And the leap :)

Yeah the ´99 U.S.open...forgot about that. One of the best GS tournaments EVER. So many three-setters. Serena escaping Kim, then battling three former-champions to win, Mary being frustrated by rain-delay thinking she won the match against Lindsay, Venus vs Hingis, Serena vs Seles, Serena vs Davenport!

Man, those were the days!

1998 RG: Aranxta shows Serena who's boss. Martina dumps Venus in what was hyped as "the real final". Monica blasts Martina off the court in a brilliant performance. Kournikova loses to Novotna in three, complaining of not being allowed a bathroom break. The epic final, where Aranxta edged Monica. All the emotion surrounding that event was surreal.

Aus Open 99: One of the most competitive GS tournament draws in recent history. Seles vs Graf battled as early as the quarters. Venus comes undone in the beaded controversy against Lindsay. Sandrine edges Serena 9-7 in the third. Mary beat Anna, who survived her double-fault problems, but falls to Martina who then ended Monica's 33-match win streak. Mauresmo stunned Lindsay and fell to Martina in the final. Martinez lost early and Novotna decided to make the trip but was bounced out early.

US Open 1999: Kim's coming out party, she falls in epic to Serena. Monica beats Jennifer in reunion of 1991 match. Mary Joe had Venus on the ropes before she slipped. Lindsay rallied from matchpoint to beat Pierce in brilliant quarterfinal. Martina beats Venus and prevents all-Williams final after a week of verbal volleys exchanged between the two parties. Serena guts out a three-setter against Conchita in the 4th round, Monica in the quarters, Lindsay in the semis and then straight-sets Martina in the final. Amazing.

2001 Australian Open: Hingis beats Serena in the epic encounter, before getting the glorious family double. Monica stumbles against Jennifer as does Lindsay. Anna makes the quarters of a Slam. Justine and Kim lose in the 4th round, but serve notice. All those wacky outfits the ladies wore. It would have been the perfect AO except Jennifer spoiled things by winning the damned thing.

Oh yes! Because it's a sin to enjoy any Slams where a Williams sister may have lost. If you read my list properly, you will find the 1999 US Open. I wonder who won that? Some of you Williams fans are really high-maintenance and give the rest of the Williams fans a bad name. Williams fans such as yourself really need to realize that for most of us out there, there is a world beyond the Williams sisters. I know it may be a difficult concept for you to grasp, but there is hope that one day you will understand what I mean.

Aussie 2001: Jen's fairytale comeback, with an epic last three rounds, with wins over Monica, Lindsay and Martina. And each and every time I was preparing for a defeat and she kept playing incredible tennis. I remember I didn't watch the final live, coz I was afraid I'd have woken up that early just to see a defeat of my fave... :o so I watched it when they re-aired it on the following morning. When Jen won the first set I realized that Eurosport wasn't cutting any game off it, and they were left with less than 40 minutes before moving to some other sport... and that's when it occurred to me that Jen had won! And I was too happy...

US OPen 99 by along way cos i think everyone was playing their best tennis. Some classic matches there. As much as i loved seeing Martina beat Venus 6-1,6-1 at the OZ in 01 Venus was hardly playing well. It is always better to see my fav win a classic rather than a one-sided game.

The 1998 French was one that I forgot. It was a great tournament! Good choices. I think the thing that makes me leave the 2001 Aussie off my list is that the semis/final were 2 setters.
