Nov. 22, (Xinhuanet) -- British Tennis Association has turned to American legend John McEnroe to bolster its bid to regenerate the sport in the country.

McEnroe is to start coaching next week with his first session to be in London, where he will work with leading British juniors.

McEnroe told BBC that he wants to "put some fire in the bellies of the British players".

The 44-year-old has frequently offered to help British tennis but it has been difficult tying him down to specific dates given the American works as a tele commentator for a few broadcasters.

An arrangement has been finally reached and McEnroe hopes it won't be just a one-off.

"Hopefully this will be the start of an association, not just a superficial thing for a couple of days," said the three-time men's Wimbledon champion.

Well I think he likes it here and the Brits like him (at least we do now!).
