Omg, sad to see Schwartz go out. She had talent, believe me.

The same goes for Brie Rippner, she's just lovely.

These players all dropped off the tour, some beacuse of injury (like Barbara Schwartz) and others because they were losing all their matches (like Gersi).

TBE said in another thread (btw, is this like the fourth identical thread in a day!?) that Vavrinec had said to him she was hoping to return.

I haven't heard from Nacuk in a while, wasn't she from Vojvodina?

Fingon, I think the poster meant Anke not Liezel Huber.
How old was Montolio when she retired?

It stated in the first post Liezel Huber.

I sent a letter to the Swiss Tennis Federation concerning Miroslavas Career, Apparently she hasn't officially retired and is indeed planning to come back sometime during the year.

Yes Gersi has retired, the US Open last year was her final event I believe.

She was playing a very limited schedule last year and finished up by playing just the slams (RG, WB, and US). I think she knew well ahead of time she was ready to call it a day but wanted to play those events one last time. When I saw her play she was all smiles and chatty with friends after a 1st round loss, so it seems she was happy with her decision and wanted to enjoy her last moments, so good that she went out on her own terms. :)

Schwartz has some serious game. Even recently beating dementieva at the Australian Open and last year her match against Seles was such high quality and she was 2 points from winning in the tiebreaker.

I haven't heard from Nacuk in a while, wasn't she from Vojvodina?

Yes, she was from Novi Sad, just like Monica. She was pretty talented, one of the best juniors back in mid 90s, played close matches against Pierce, Graf and Sanchez-Vicario, had some problems wih injuries and terrible results afterwards. I haven't heard of her for a while now.

Sandra had wins over Pistolesi, Pratt, Pisnik, Nagyova, Bedanova or Obata and reached the 3rd round at Wimbledon 2000 where Arantxa Sánchez defeated her 3/6 7/6 6/2. She also lost against Steffi 6/4 in the 3rd set in Berlin 99'.

This year Sandra has played 5 tournaments (all challengers) losing in the first round in all of them. Retired in her last match in August in first round of qualifying of a $10K in Saulgau, Germany 2 weeks before turning 23...

Ruxandra Dragomir Ilie still plays occasional doubles tournaments. I'm pretty sure she was at Wimbledon this year.

Whatever happened to some player called Martina Navratilova? I played dubs with her once. Wonder if she ever came good.

Whatever the truth Pam, it's well known in tennis circles that you carried her. She got carried along by you.

Pam, while you're here, any word on your views about players' comebacks. Now that Novotna's tried it and goodness knows who will be next, what do you think of them?

Barabara Schwartz is an amazing talent and all these injuries are taking so much timne time out of what should be being a very successful career.

BRIE RIPPNER!?!?! Another shame, she was a talented player, also could have continued being successful if not for injury!! Are we certain she has retired??

Snuffkin, Jana should take a leaf out of my book and grow old (un)gracefully. Pffft she aint even bothered to marry an aging Bond star. You're right, they'll all be at it now...Nathalie Tauziat, Gaby....Suzanne Lenglenn....
