What part of Justine's game can still be better, if any?

I think her net play.

mmm hard one ...

Yep I also think her netplay can be better! She must come more to the net and has to work her volleys a bit! I also woudn't mind if she improves all her great strokes again ;)

I think her netplay is the best of the game.I think she can imrove her serve:if she only would hit 7% more of first serve in,it's going to be really hard to beat her.Cause everybody knows when her first serve is in there's 8-9 chances out 10 she will win the point.

1. serve, need consistency on that.
2. stamina, i think her stamina must be better if she wants to stay longer on top.
3. should look for a new tactics to play in fast surface esp. Supreme indoor and Hard court indoor.
4. backhand control, sometimes she cant control it when the opponents attack her BH.

Yes, net game, but we know that she's working on that ;)
Her backhand crosscourt

Forehand down the line ;)

But I'm not so good in technique analysis, so I might be wrong

Her netplay is good, but she doesn't come in as often as she could. This is partly connected to the fact that her serve isn't as consistent as it could be. If she got her 1st serve percentage up, she could come in after it more often.

Otherwise, I think she should get some advice about the muscle cramps she seems to suffer from a lot in tough matches. I don't know much about this stuff, but presumably it has something to do with how she's training?

I think the serve still needs to be perfected
for easier "aces" against players. She's
gotten better about it this year. :)

Concentration- at times it seems that Justine
isn't as serious against bigger named players
or in smaller events.

Yep, the cramping thing. She should get more
pro advice on hydrating or preventing injuries.

The net play could improve. I know she's
tossing it in nowadays in matches and that's
great to see.

I think she needs to improve her first serve percentage.;)

she has exceptional skills in almost all areas, but she needs to definatley work on her net play during long matches - it tends to fall apart as the match prolongs; getting to the net a half second earlier would allow her just enough time to really attack those shots.

in terms of ground strokes, she needs a little more work on flattening out her backhand down the line, though it's a beautiful shot when executed properly. this shot is an awesome winner, but not too consistent. her cross court backhand is phenomanal.

her game play tends to waver as match progresses (true to any player) but she plays a smart game and is AMAZING at working the big points...

I think that she already plays the backhand down the line a bit more but I agree ... it could be more :hearts:

hmmm...
first of all: percentage of first serve!! Aggression in first and 2nd is  (winning the US Open with 40 - 50% 1ste serve :()

keep on working on that netplay girl: (us open versus Jennny )

if she starts serve and volleying a bit more, we 'll know her confidence to play at the net will be "superbe"

I actually think the key for Justine is her RETURN.
She said this year she admire Agassi a lot... well, she should look at some more of his matches, cuz he's a great returner!!
The best matches Justine played this year (IMHO) were when she went for her return, Just hitting it! ex. againsty Danira Safina (USopen), Serena (RG), Kim (San Diego),... but she doesn't go for her return often enough I think. She has a great stroke, it would save her energy and it's just wonderfull (not allways ;) )to nail the other player to ground with a blistering back/forhand :bounce:

R - E - T - U - R - N ;)

so if we make a conclusion: better return, better serve, better forehand, better backhand, better netplay, better stamina, ...
Damn, if she improves that all she'll be the number one of the world :o... oh yeah, she already is

I think she needs to stop her forehand breaking down so easily....and her net work could do with some improving. But she's only 21 so she can always keep improving!

Both Belgian girls have still a lot of room for improvement (as do all the rest of the tennis players).

A) Justine still gets tense in some situations. She becomes nervous and it affects her play (also cramps).

several eg. :
1) the latter part of the match against Safina. The American public began to cheer Safina after she won her first game and Justine her confidence is shattered
2) her semi final against Capriati at the US Open
3) her losses against Kim at the beginning of the year
4) the loss against Serena (after the controversy at RG)
...

B) Her serve off course. Too low a first percentage
C) Her return.
D) Her backhand. Venus destroys her backhand by pummeling it.
E) Her forehand. She needs a lot of time to hit it. It's not really natural.
F) Volley. Not always good. She is a bit short. Her reach isn't that of Venus.
G) Speed. Still room for improvement. Her volleys would become better if she runs faster to the net. She is sometimes too late.
H) Mental aspect of the game. I'm not sure she is confident enough to win against Serena and Venus (if it's not on clay). Serena destroyed her at Wimbledon, because she was affraid of what Serena would do to her (she admitted it afterwards)
I) Shot selection. Not always the right shots at that time of the match (also a problem for Kim)
J) She has to take the ball earlier. Hingis and Kim take the ball a lot earlier.
