With Serena and Davenport out, the eight qualifiers are pretty much decided; I don't see anyone catching Rubin.

Kim
Justine
Jennifer
Amelie
Venus
Elena
Anastasia
Chanda

So the groups could be:

Kim
Amelie
Elena
Chanda

and

Justine
Jennifer
Venus
Anastasia

No! I don`t want the groups to be like that.

Clijsters and Henin-Hardenne at the top of one group but not Jen and Venus in one group.

Your possibility shows a much stronger second group.

Clijsters, Jen, ....
Henin-Hardenne, Venus, ....

or

Clijsters, Venus, ....
Henin-Hardenne, Jen, ....

Do you really think Venus will play?

Venus will withdraw soon i expect.

I hope Venus plays. If she's on the practice court, then she is obviously preparing as she started a while back. Also, she had a serious strain NOT surgery and has been recovering from it since July (4 months by the time YEC comes round) so she could be physically fit.

Let's see....

I like the first set of groups as long as Jen and Elena D are in separate groups, I'm happy! :)

I also think she will withdraw. She is obviously capable of playing physically, but having to face Top 10 players and being rusty, she won't be willing to take a beating and will chicken out just like her sister..

You have such a way with words!! - e.g. willing to take a beating, chicken out.
Maybe you could name one act of courage that you have made which gives you the right to use these phrases? i.e. when you are not hiding behind anonymous entries?

If I am not mistaken, Serena was advised by her doctors not to play. I wasn't aware you have firsthand knowledge of her situation.

If Venus plays, maybe she won't win, but I know what happened the last time she came back from a long layoff.

Kim has an easy ass draw!!!

shap_half
Oct 22nd, 2003, 03:28 PM
if that becomes kim's draw, then she actually better win. if anyone else other than kim wins with that draw, then i refuse to recognize her even a top 3 player. you're putting jenn, venus, and justine in one group while all kim has to worry about is amelie (who she defeated atleast twice this year).

Will the groups be selected randomly or is there a specific order...I mean it would seem to me if they're being placed the groups would be...

Kim vs Justine
Chanda Anastacia
Jennifer Amelie
Elena Venus

Oh and I know that each player plays twice but will they only play within there group until the finals or cross over?

It's not going to happen. Nastya has already passed Venus in the Race and so will be seeded higher. So, Nastya will be paired with Elena, and Venus ( if plays, which she won't ) would be paired with eigth qualifier ( Chanda/Vera/Nadya/Ai )

The lead, if there is one, is temporary as Venus is expected to play in Philly and if she does well and Anastasia doesn't, Venus will be ahead of her again.

BTW, if she plays Philly and is healthy, she is playing the YEC, so just get over it or blow it up your ass.

Well, with Ai's win in Linz, Chanda becomes "alternate" for LA. Good thing she got into Philly ... that's her last chance to qualify!

Yes but if Rubin goes farther than Ai at the Advanta Rubin will be 8th

Let's face it - it's based on rank, so the two groups will be:

Kim Justine
Jennifer Amelie
Elena Anastasia
Chanda Ai

And that looks like Justine has the easier draw - although I'm pretty certain that Amelie will want to be competitive..

DEETHELICK

There's so much speculation about the two groups.

I hope we get a Kim-Amelie-Elena-Chanda group

and a Justine-Jennifer-Myskina-Ai group.

That seems more balanced than having Elena, Jen and Kim all in the same group.

I would like to see Venus play..but she has a bad habit of being a NO SHOW at the last mintue.

As for the groups no matter what someone is getting screwed..either Justine or Clijsters will get 2 big players in their section.

I think this one would be fair!
Kim Amelie Elena Ai (1-4 5-7)
Justine Jennifer Myskina Rubin(2-3 6-8)

Kim Jen Elena Rubin(1-3 5-8)<<This would be brutal
Justine Amelie Myskina Ai(2-4 6-7)

How is my friend doing.
I cant wait tell the LA event to see who wins. :bounce:
Come on Myskina, Justine, Kim all have a chance, but I hope Justine does it because she is the best and I think should finish number 1.
