Right now I am inclined to Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad or All My Sons by Arthur Miller

Maybe Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

hmm.. well the heart of darkness is a very good book, conrad is a great author - its not overly long and its an easy read, not to mention interesting.. :p

.. all my sons is a play therefore (well for me anyways im not inclined to read many plays just because) it can get annoying :o ;) - but thats also a decent book - but i personally never got interested in it..

.. but that said it all depends on what your interests are..

For the love of all that's good on this earth do NOT read Heart of Darkness. That book is a steaming pile of boring hyperbole.

Of the ones you've mentioned, that's the only one I've read so therefore . . .

I think that reading a book by a woman as well will give you a different perspective than two books by men. So I would pitch for O,Pioneers by Willa Cather. I haven't read that particular book by her, but I love her other works. I think you'd get a real interesting perspective. Have fun!! :)

I vote for Their Eyes were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston.

If you're an insomniac read O, Pioneers.
