LMAO GBFH -- when I say I've withdrawn from all pop culture, I mean it. I don't know when any of this shit is on, if that makes you feel better ;)

Did anybody watch the VH1 behind the scenes at Miss America this weekend? That was fuckin hilarious! The swimsuit competition controversy -- back in 1994 or so they had this call-in where "America" could vote on whether or not to keep the swimsuit portion of the competition and apparently "America" voted 4-1 to keep it.

Ahh, pageants. I still have no idea what looking good in a swimsuit has to do with scholarship money :)

it does make me feel better. thank you, hackie.
it's sad when your 50 year old mother knows what American Idol is before you do.

lmao! if i'd put in the time and effort to look good in a bikini, i'd want compensation.

Sorry don't know about Miss Texas. We saw "The Fighting Temptations". It was good. Well the music was awesome and the story was average to bad. Add those two together and you get good.

I do know Miss Florida won the talent competition and the evening gown competition. Sounds like she kind of ran away with it.

Think about it for a moment -- which is sadder, that you don't know or that your mother does?

And then there are those of us who could never, ever look good in a swimsuit, even if we starved ourselves down to a size 0. I don't see what my body type has to do with my brain is all I'm saying :)

the former. mom loves talent shows...i remember hearing something on sportsradio about it...and i said, "what the fuck is american idol?" and our german exchange student looked at me with increduility, "you don't know vat american idol is?" now that....is sad.

simple. it has nothing to do with it. it's just further evidence that women are only as worthwhile as they are beautiful. pathetic.

Its the movie with Beyonce' and Cuba Gooding Jr. in it. Its about a gospel choir going to a competition basically with some "soul" growth thrown in. The gospel music was awesome they had a lot of stars in it.

From Shirley Ceasar, Angie Stone, Montel Jordan, The O'Jays, The 5 Blind Boys of Alabama, Melba Moore, and some more...

LMAO! The former Miss America looks like she is thinking:

"Bitch, the crown is still mines!" LOL

Anyways, I missed this as usual. I do like the swimsuit competition. Of course you know why. lol

TennisHack, I did see the VH1 behind the scences of Miss America or something like that. It was so funny. My favorite part was when the boys from Making the Band sounded like shit. I could not stop laughing when they were commenting about it. I did not see the whole thing though, I have to look to see when it's back on.

Saw it last night, and it was alright. You know I have to support, but what was up with the plot? :tape:

I did not understand what was the purpose of faith's part at the beginning of the movie, and why did they do a sister act 2 at the end of the movie with the "take off your robes thing".

And my question is was anyone in the church really saved? LOL

The music was good though.

I think they just tried to hard with the plot and the whole relationship thing between Beyonce and Cuba. As soon as they kissed I mumbled they always got to mess up a good movie. I understood the Faith part. If you noticed the church was full and thriving and then the preacher's sister (Samuel L. Jackson's wife) started with her meddling and holy rolling. So when we get to modern day the church is struggling and empty and the choir is certainly empty.

btw, Faith just ain't cute...:tape:

The sister act two thing was pretty pointless. I think they should've gone out with the robes myself. However, it was funny that Melba Moore's character was wearing her robe.

Also, happy to see Melba with a part and singing.

However, the music was awesome. I mean you had Shirley Ceasar singing two songs. :bounce:

wait a minute, the girl putting on the crown doesn't look like last year's American candidate at the Miss Universe pageant. She was from Massacheusetts I think and was partly hispanic...Do they send the Miss USA or the Miss America to Miss Universe? or is that the same person and I just can't tell?

Leave Faith alone. LOL. She was alright, but what I found funny was once she got on that bus I had a feeling she was going to die.

Also the part that turned me off about the relationship with Cuba was when beyonce acted as if something was in cuba eyes and blew it out and then kissed him. I was doing the  on that part.

Also I'm glad melba has gotten back in the game, because when I heard she was getting food stamps I was shocked. Good to see her get a role.

If I'm not mistaken doesnt it work something like this:

The students in each state competes with each other to get the state title, and once that female recieves the state title they can compete for their national title like for Miss USA.

Miss USA and Miss Universe are owned by donald trump, and once you win Miss USA you elgible to compete for Miss Universe. Other countries pretty much do the same thing.

Also Miss America is a separate contest from Miss USA and Miss USA is more pretigious.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

BTW, congrats to the new Miss USA.

Miss America is very pretty, but why is she wearing a yellow dress and everyone else a white one?

Tine, by this time they had cut down to the final five, so everyone in the back had already been eliminated and I guess they all were told to wear white. The five finalists were still in their "evening wear," I guess.

Miss California is a hot babe (she won the "swimsuit" portion) but she "sang" in the talent competition. No, I'm sorry, she actually murdered cats in the talent competition. Anyway, that's why she finished fifth ;)

Yes, my friends and I watched it. We didn't go out until 11:30. Shut up. :p

Yes that's pretty much how it works. I differ from one thing the part about Miss USA being more prestigious than Miss America. I think its opposite. One because Miss America has to be a scholar as well and two because she has to have a talent which Miss USA doesn't have to have either.

Hey did you know the girl who beat Halle Berry for Miss USA was on "Who wants to Marry My Dad"? Talk about a non-career..

Miss Florida goes to my Alma Mater, UCF. One of the local stations have been filming her since she got Miss Florida. It's been a bit of over-kill here. They filmed her going shopping and really stupid shit but I'm glad a local won. I don't watch those shows.
