Because there's already a thread for Tammy, I've decided to start one for the other Thai players. :)

Jan won 2 straight $10Ks in India. :worship:
She'll now take 4 weeks off before going to Australia for some $25Ks. :D

Ploy & Gift will play a $10K in Japan next week, followed by $10Ks in Indonesia. :)

Robbee lost 1st rd of qualies in Shanghai.
I wonder where she'll play next. Maybe Asian Championships or Japan Open qualies?

Hi Jiro & Adji :wavey:

I'm glad that there are a number of Thai players coming up on the WTA tour. I'm especially happy with June's progress considering that she has not had much experience as of date. :)

Jiro, I hope you have a good time at Davis Cup & Thailand Open. Hopefully Ball can bring a smile to the Thai people's faces. :)

Very sad to hear that Tang Mo might quit tennis prematurely. I wonder why she doesn't study & play tennis at the same time, like Tammy did?

Speaking of study, I heard Jan is currently studying Law. I didn't know about this...

Anyway, I hope these players can follow Tammy's footsteps one day! :worship:

Talking about June: Her problem is she still doesn't have sponsor to support the budget when she has to go oversea. I hope she will be able to get a sponsor soon. :D

As far as I know, many Thai players are studying Law. I used to ask them why, they said studying Law is no need to attend class room. It seems like they can asking for a special acceptance from the university when they play oversea. Tammy (already graduated Law degree) and Pik are studying Law in Bangkok University. They gave a special favor to Tammy and Pik. Of course they are representative players of the University games. :hearts:

Montinee Wins First ITF Title

Teen prodigy Montinee Tangphong claimed her first ITF trophy when she beat Indonesian veteran Liza Andriyani in the final of a US$10000 ITF Women's circuit event in Jakata yesterday. The 18 year-old from Samut Sakhon easily upset the eight seeded Andriyani 6-4,6-1.

Montinee, the top Thai junior who reached No 19 in the ITF junior computer ranking in April, became the sixth Thai women to win an ITF Tournament. The others are Suvimol Duangchan , Benjamas Seangaram , Tamarine Tanasugarn , Suchanan Viratprasert and Pariyawan Ratanakrong

As far as I know:
Robbee : MD WC Pattaya
Noop : Qualify WC Pattaya
Pak Pow : Qualify WC Pattaya
The others play $10K and $25K ITF.

It seems like Marissa Niroj has already quit from tennis. Suvimol Duangchan also retired from tennis and she is now a air hostress of Thai International Airway. She is still playing tennis for the Thai airway, I think I will see her in Pattaya.

I don't think Jan will play Doha anymore.

Gift withdrew from Australia. She's still on a restricted schedule so she probably wants to save them for other tourneys. :)You are welcome.:D I try to update information about Thai players everyday, you can check an updated information in my homepage as well.

Please read my PM about Jan in Doha schedule.
Jan changed her coach from Mr Athip to Mr. Sombat Eum-mongkol, a former Thai great player.

Gift said she does not want to play Junior anymore. So she withdrew all $10K in Australia and Junior tournament except Grade 1 in Malaysia. She will be starting to play Junior Grade 1 in Malaysia ( just for warming up ) before go to play $10K in India. She is now training hard to improve her aggressive game and killing instinct.

Ploy's status is now number 24 in next in qualify list in Hyderabab. She will be waiting for the latest updated entry list on Monday 9. She will be going to Hyderabab if she is even in no. 1 - 4 in next in qualify list.

Vittaya Samrej, former Danai Udomchoke's double partner is now coaching Robbee. Jan, Robbee, Ploy, May will be playing in $25K Bendigo, Australia. Ploy/May, Robbee/Gers will be paring up in double as well.

I hope the Thai players can do well in Australia. Good thing now for Ploy is that she's able to play as many tourneys as she wants. It'll be the same for Gift when she turns 18 in June. :D

I hope Jan & Robbee's coaching changes will do them good. :)

Well, it got started in SEA Games Vietnam last year when 4 reporters of our local Tabloid Tennis - the only tennis tabloid in Indonesia...yes, focusing only on tennis - were there to cover this multi event...Abor Widjaja, the chairman of TT and his team gave free copies of TT to other players and officials from all participating nations...Jan was interested and happy since in that particular edition - there was feature about Thailand right before SEA Games...In the latest edition of TT last week - Jan sent a letter by email to Abor...and Abor was very kind to publish it along with Jan's great picture...I was suprised to read Jan's letter coz she used mostly our Indonesian language mixed with English...She said that she wanted to be known in Indonesia and certainly she has some fans down here...I wonder if she used a translator for Indonesian language??? ;) Or maybe Abor translated it??? I just wonder that what's wrong with Thaitennis-Webboard :help:I decided not to post in Thaitennis-Webboard one month ago. There are too many posters have been posting some useless information, using impolite words, they are also posting some advertising. It's boring to read such kind of posts.

I think it should better to have a log-in before posting. ( I used to consult to the webmistress many times but it seems like she is very busy. ) I know some posters ( Khun zeeson, Khun Vut, Khun pang, Khun DJ and ... ) who are posting useful informations about Thai tennis. The LTAT want Jan to fly to India on 14th April together with Thai Fed Cup team. Her coach is now under negotiation to the LTAT if she can go after 14th April. Let hope to hear a good news.

I remember someone said she just tries to bash everything.... but now i get the impression she is consistent...not powerfull. As I mentioned before, Jan started working with her new coach, Mr. Sombat Euam-mongkol (Thai former great player) since January this year. She is learning a lot from her new coach. In the past actually her game did not have anything special, just hitting the ball consistent and steady. Then she started playing aggressive tennis, try to hit winner shot when she has chance especially her inside out forehand. She learnt how to manage to win the points (she has never done in the past), and her game is improving a lot.
She has already won four $10K ITF titles and reached the final in $25K ITF Bendigo in February but lost to Shahar Peer. This year she defeated top players who have ranking higher than her ( Rita Kuti Kis, Miho Saeki, Mi-ra Jeon). I think with her victory today will boost her confident.

Suchanan breaks into the 200 club

Published on Apr 20, 2004

[TENNIS] SEA Games gold medallist Suchanan Viratprasert will break into the top 200 next week following her first ITF title in Ho Chi Minh on Sunday. The 21-year-old thrashed Russian Gulnara Fattakhetdinova 6-4 6-0 in the final of the Toyota Women’s Open to become the first Thai female to claim a US$25,000 (Bt1 million) trophy after Tamarine Tanasugarn.

When the WTA ranking is updated next week, Suchanan will jump from 234 this week to land somewhere in the 190s, marking another milestone for Thailand in having two players in the top 200.

“To some extent I’m proud of myself for finally winning a $25,000 tournament and reaching the top 200. But I’m not being overly joyful as I am looking forward to more,’’ said Suchanan who has sets her sights on breaking into the top 150 this year. She is coached by former national player Sombat Eaumongkol.

“He helps me with my power game and I am hitting more winners from the forehand side. As well, I’m now more focussed and select better shots to play,’’ added the Thai No 2 who left for New Delhi last night to join her teammates in the Federation Cup qualifying zone which begins today.

With her form so impressive, Suchanan vowed to put everything into helping Thailand to reach Saturday’s play-offs. Thailand got that far last year but lost to Japan 0-3. “We have a very strong team this year and our group is not that tough. With the level I’m playing at, it can help the team. However, we cannot underestimate the other teams because anything can happen,’’ said Suchanan whose new ranking will allow her to enter the qualifying competitions of Grand Slams. Tamarine is the only Thai woman to have competed in a Slam tournament.

In today’s Fed Cup preliminary round, Suchanan is pitted against Chinese Ying Yu in the second singles rubber.

After the tie against China, the Thai team of Tamarine, Suchanan, Napaporn Tongsalee and Monthinee Tangphong will face the Philippines tomorrow and New Zealand on Thursday. Lerpong Amsa-ngiam

Jan played great tennis in her caeer, defeating world No.41 Nicole Pratt in Fed Cup World Group Play-Offs to put THA leads AUS 2-0 in the first day.

Post match interview.

Suchanan Viratprasert:
“I didn’t expect to beat her (Nicole Pratt) and I’m very happy to win the match. I was nervous at the beginning but tried to focus on my game especially in the third set,’’ said the No 174 Thai who was not all that surprised by her upset win.
“Upsets happen in events like the Fed Cup. It’s just a matter of who plays better and has better concentration. Today I was very concentrated and played my game by attacking her backhand and keeping the first serve percentage high,’’

Evonne Goolagong:
“I was surprised by the way she played against an experienced player. This really showed the rankings didn’t tell anything. However, I believe we can come back to win because nothing is certain until the final point is hit. When you play for your country, you have to try your hardest,’’

Nicole Pratt:
“Obviously I was very disappointed because I wanted to win the first point for my team. I could not put my game together and should play better than that. I have to give credit to her as she played better than her ranking. She moved quickly, serve well and created angles shot so well,’’
