yes, i totally agree - she's got an outstanding voice as the clip of that performance really shows, but unfortunately she really doesn't get as much credit as she deserves for most of the music credibility she has :(

She then had her breakout as a singer with her "signature album" Tapestry. Melanie still has lit candles held up by audiences for her "signature song". Lady Soul certainly got her Re-re-re-re-spect. I think Bobbie's still "dropping flowers in-to the muddy waters off the Tallahatchie Bridge". ;)
