Curious about the Top 10 players from Western Australia, Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory. If anyone can do a Top 10 list for Northern Territory and Tasmania, that'd be great. :)

I'm from WA, so I can do a Top 10 list of Sandgropers. ;) This is just in the order of my opinion and based on their NTPR's. WA doesn't have a lot of pro players, but there are a lot of really good State Grade pennant players.

Western Australia:

MEN

01 Jaymon CRABB (ATP)
02 Mark HLAWATY (ATP, State Grade)
03 James SEKULOV (ATP, State Grade)
04 Darren PATTEN (former ITF, State Grade)
05 Hayden GIBSON (former ITF, State Grade)
06 Ashley DYER (State Grade)
07 David CULLEY (TCA Coach, State Grade)
08 Brett PATTEN (State Grade)
09 Kurt ROBINSON (TCA Coach, State Grade)
10 Strahinja BOBUSIC (US College, State Grade)

WOMEN

01 Siobahn DRAKE-BROCKMAN (former WTA, State Grade) *
02 Casey DELLACQUA (WTA, ITF, State Grade)
03 Nicole SEWELL (ITF, State Grade)
04 Angela GREEN (TCA Coach, former US College, State Grade)
05 Sarah STANLEY (former ITF, former junior ITF, State Grade)
06 Bojana BOBUSIC (junior ITF, State Grade)
07 Julia DZIEDZIC (ITF, State Grade)
08 Nikki SARGINSON (State Grade)
09 Vanya KELLEHER (State Grade)
10 Marinela ANTONIC (ITF, State Grade)

If you run out of professional players as you compile your list, go on to State Grade pennant players, followed by the top juniors, and so on.

* Siobahn Drake-Brockman still kicks the butt of the girls currently playing on the ITF and WTA tours.

I wonder if Siobhan will ever attempt a comeback? She should have finished uni by now. Such a waste to see her dominate the state competitions, but not try her luck elsewhere. Please come back, Siobhan.

I'm going to revise my rankings a little.

1. Casey Dellacqua
2. Nicole Sewell
3. Siobahn Drake-Brockman

The reason being Nicole beat Siobahn at the State Championships, and Casey killed Nicole 6-0 6-1 in State League competition. Casey and Siobhan have never met.

danker: I was thinking the same thing. She's still playing reasonably well. She only hits once a week and that's during competition. Imagine how much better she would do if she was able to train every day. Sadly, I don't think she will ever play pro again. She quit the first time because she got homesick a lot and didn't believe she could keep up with the harder hitters. I'd estimate that in todays' game, she wouldn't be likely to attain her ranking best of 101 again. Top 250 possibly, but I don't know about Top 150 like before.

IN the men for W.A you forgot Alistair Todd.(Toddy)
He is probably just after Darren Patern. Brett Pattern is probably before Alistar.
Toddy was a previous ATP player, and is still at that level.

Dijana Srbinoska could also be included in the list. She beat Sarah Stanley 6-1 in the third earlier this year.

Jasmon Crabb, Jaymon sister is also a good player. She is state grade level. Currently she should be in State grade except the Womens State Grade teams was rigged. She plays No. 1 for UWA.

Great thread :)

The Australian national rankings is a good start for compiling a top 10. Description below:

The Australian Ranking (AR) system ranks Australian players from ATP/WTA level to 12s state level. A players combined (singles and doubles) Australian Ranking will consist of their best eight (8) singles results, plus 25% of their best six (6) doubles results.
Components of the Australian Ranking include:
- ATP/WTA Points (singles and doubles)
- Kia Pro Circuit
- ITF 18s Circuit
- Optus Junior Tour
- Australian Money Tournaments & Tennis Australia Open Tournaments
- ETA Events

There's a list of over 1000's names for the Aussie gals rank

All the players have played sometime since October in the WTA, ITF juniors, or competions in New Zealand (mostly Auckland and North Harbour club play) except Paula Marama whose last singles match was the QF at $10,000 Wellington where she also won the doubles final.

The other players from 5 to 13 except Shona Lee I ranked mostly on their club play results.
I have never seen Shona play except yesterday when I saw the last game of her one-sided SF win over Abigail Guthrie at the Auckland Senior Champs. I'll be watching her play the final on Tuesday afternoon against Dianne Hollands who beat Kairangi Vano in a close 3 set match.

As for Katherine Westbury, I'd place her at the same level as Tanya Samodelok (1 win, 2 loss head to head) who lost 6-1 6-1 to Shona Lee in the Auckland Champs QF yesterday. But I see these two girls as NZ's best young players.

I highly doubt that!!! Its been years!!

I remember that class of promising young juniros, Siobhan and Annabel with Trudi probably third most promising that year and then Ben and james...all wasted talents!!

Just liike in 1992 Grant Doyle and Joanne Limmer!

They have 1 WTA ranked player, Anna Wishink. Other than that there are only a few kids that perform okay at a national level
