There are groups that demanding that this song by DMX be pulled from the airwaves and television stations:

Artist: DMX
Song: "Where The Hood At?"

Lyrics :

[DMX talking]
Aiyyo, ya niggaz must be outcha fuckin mind
Thinkin dog can't pull another motherfuckin rabbit out the hat
Nigga I ain't gotta check out my motherfuckin sleeves you bitch ass niggaz
Fuck is y'all niggaz...
Y'all niggaz just thinkin I'm sittin around doin nothin?
Oh my God, y'all niggaz can't be serious

[Chorus: DMX - repeat 2X]
Where the hood, where the hood, where the hood at?
Have that nigga in the cut, where the wood at?
Oh, them niggaz actin up?!? Where the wolves at?
You better BUST THAT if you gon pull that

[DMX]
Man, cats don't know what it's gonna be
Fuckin with a nigga like me, D-to-the-M-to-the-X
Last I heard, y'all niggaz was havin sex, with the SAME sex
I show no love, to homo thugs
Empty out, reloaded and throw more slugs
How you gonna explain fuckin a man?
Even if we squashed the beef, I ain't touchin ya hand
I don't buck with chumps, for those to been to jail
That's the cat with the Kool-Aid on his lips and pumps
I don't fuck with niggaz that think they broads
Only know how to be ONE WAY, that's the dog
I know how to get down, know how to BITE
Bark very little, but I know HOW TO FIGHT
I know how to chase a cat up in the tree
MAN, I GIVE Y'ALL NIGGAZ THE B'INESS FOR FUCKIN WIT ME, IS YOU CRAZY?!?

[Chorus]

[DMX]
Once a song, I come though, guns is drawn
BLAM BLAM, lungs are gone, sons will mourn
From dusk till dawn, nighttime belongs to the dog
On the street passed midnight, look for 'em in the morgue
Don't play with these cats cuz I ain't got nothin to say to these cats
For the mothers that really do love em, please pray for these cats
Cuz I know niggaz is hardheaded but I ain't got the patience
Don't want me havin no patience turn into more patience
More trips to ICU cuz I see you
Tryna get away with shit a real nigga wouldn't do
Where my dogs at? (RIGHT HERE) See them niggaz? (RIGHT WHERE?!?)
GET EM BOY! (RIGHT THERE) That's how we do... (AIIGHT THEN)
This is for my dogs, this is for my dogs
YO, WHERE WE AT BABY?!? (CREEPIN THROUGH THE FOG)
From then till now, don't ask me how
Know that we gon roll like them niggaz and hit every block on the job

[Chorus]

[DMX]
I get tapes doin times, stop niggaz like grapes makin wine
Five CD's with mad rhymes
Don't hit me with that positive shit, I know you lyin
You really wanna stop niggaz from dyin? Stop niggaz from tryin
I cuz I ain't really got that time to waste
and I thought I told you to get these fuckin bums out my face
Lookin atchu in your grill, I might be nice to cut
Once I split ya ass in two, you'll be twice as butt
Yeah, you right, I know ya style - PUSSY cuz I'm fuckin it
Since we all right here, you hold my dick while he suckin it
MOTHERFUCKER, don't you know you'll never come near me
Shove ya head up ya ass, have you seein shit clearly
Never heard that D be runnin, cuz D be gunnin
I beat my dick and bust off in ya eye so you can see me comin/cumin
Empty clips and shells are what I leave behind
and if they get me with the joint, they hit me with a three-to-nine

[Chorus]

[DMX talking]
WHERE THE FUCKIN HOOD AT?!? (It's all good, the dog is the hood)
NO ONES' FUCKIN WITH ME NIGGA, FO REAL (It's all good, the dog is the hood)
I AM THE HOOD, I AM THE STREETS (It's all good, the dog is the hood)
YOU BITCH ASS NIGGA (It's all good, the dog is the hood)
TAKE IT HOW YOU WANT, MOTHERFUCKER (It's all good, the dog is the hood)
I'M IN THE HOOD ALL DAY (It's all good, the dog is the hood)
I THINK I'M LIKE THE ONLY NIGGA, DOG (It's all good, the dog is the hood)
THAT CAN GO TO THE PROJECTS (SCHOOL STREET, HOME OF THE BRAVE)
BY HIS FUCKIN SELF AND BE GOOD
YEAH NIGGA, ASK NIGGAZ ON Y.O. (MY PROJECTS, Y.O.)
WHEN THE LAST TIME THEY SEEN DOG (Not too long ago baby)
MOTHERFUCKER..
DEE, WAAH, UGH... (Y'all niggaz is homeless)
KATO... (Where the hood at?)

DMX is one of the best selling rap/hip-hop acts happening. Honestly, I don't mind hip-hop, but these lyrics caused a HUGE discussion @ my job today.

how could they be racist?

homophobia in the rap game should not be surprising. DMX hasn't been around for awhile and to prove his masculinity, because he's been doing movies and such and people in the industry think he's gone 'soft', he has to put down what he perceives is weak and furthest from his lifestyle, homosexuals. It's not right but that's the explanation.

and DMX isn't a group, it's a rapper. :)

I am a hardcore DMX fan, so I cant give you an objective view. (Yes, those are some seriously redicoulous lyrics). But like I said in another post, I dont see anyone clowing on 50 "no talent" cent and his obvious degredation of women in the song and video called P.I.M.P

Nas is a rapper, and I'm sure DMX is probably addressing that issue in this song, and no I don't think it's racist or homophobic.

Well then nearly everyone should be banned at some point then. America is the land of free speech. Racist groups make music also though it's not popular of course.

ok I would've said no its not particularly homophobic except for the part hilighted. I think that is encouraging violence against a group of people and that is homophobic. I would say without that line that it certainly wasn't a love song to homosexuals but I could see how it would pass the discrimantion test of being allowed on the radio. Frankly with all the *n*'s getting bleeped you wouldn't be able to understand what he's talking about. Heck I read it and I'm having a hard time understanding what he was talking about. ;)

Having said that I'm probably biased as well cause I love me some DMX :o

but also thinking about rap don't they talk about shooting somebody a lot? It kind of goes hand in hand with gansta rap, no?

You can't take everything that a rapper says 100% literally, which is why children shouldn't be allowed to listen to songs like this without their parents permission.

What law?? There is no law against what DMX is doing. It's entertainment. He may be talking about a life he lived before he became a rapper and got famous, but he is a family man now and I doubt he is on the streets killing or shooting anybody. Eminem kills everyone in his raps, so what does that mean?? Is he killing them in real life??

if youre going to be that close-minded, then maybe we should get rid of all those programs that contain gay guys cos THAT can also be seen as a bad influence by other ignorants.

please, thats just ridiculous. as if freedom of speech isnt restricted enough as it is.

yknow whats funny?
male musicians have been degrading females for a LONG time, and no one other than feminists have ever cared. but now all of the sudden, dmx says something about gays and its the end of the world  typical in this patriarchal society that we would only care about the negative images of gay men when women are CONSTANTLY being degraded and there are tons of bad influences out there against women seen daily by children.

rappers arent telling their autobiography in a song, its just a STORY. thats ALL.

stop being so sensitive and get over it.

Well it's hard to get over it when you see a lot of teenagers (particularly boys) who are listening to this sort of music and thinking it's all ok. Like violence and hate is a part of normal life. It's not.

sam, i wasnt saying thats my personal opinion [far from it] but im sure theres people out there [ignorant homophobes of course] that feel it can have an influence on a childs sexuality. i was just throwing the flip at you.

but rap talks about killing all the time and dmx is definitely not the first rapper to talk trash about gays. its all cos they hafta portray this image of tough and being gay is often seen as the exact opposite, dig?

It aint right but I always look at rap as bein dramatic anyway and I neva believe these brotha's 100% a the time. Yeah, that's the explanation, but it's a very lame justification... if you're a fan of DMX (and I've liked pretty much everything I've heard by him) you have to find a way of reconciling great music with loathsome lyrics. I tend to do that by not taking it very seriously, like Miss Thang... I do know someone who was so bothered by the homophobia in some Jamaican dancehall lyrics that she ended up making up her own lyrics just so she could sing along in peace.

It'd be good if someone called X out on it but shyeah right that'll happen.

Sam L. is correct- i work in a youth agency and these kids talk about nothing but rap music & the artist, i am not kidding and quite unfortunately most of them dont' come from homes to combat this shit---i don't support this crap and will continue not to do so and it has nothing to do with being on a higher moral ground- the shit is horrible to listen to for my ears.

Thank you Joy. :) I also cannot stand the fact that children these days are easily swayed by this type of music. I don't know what is "cool" about this sort of music. Now why can't we all listen to Whitney Houston's classics like "The Greatest love of all", for example.
