Sorry Doryssia, but for whatever reason you were not listed on the entry list for Bali, and there was no spot on the list shown to me which stated the US Open junior winner would receive a spot. I am sure that if you speak with Alek you will be able to arrange a wildcard at an alternate event to compensate for the one missed here :)

Marteena hopes for a better result here than she has had the past few tournaments. "I haven't done too well at all recently, and been struggling a lot with my form. I worked hard since my us open loss and I hope that i can turn things around here. I'm also looking forward to the doubles with Paula as it's the first time we've played together and it should be a lot of fun!" :)
Lindsay Sarile of the Philippines signs autograph during fan's day at the 2003 wisimilak international bali. She is seeded second behind former doubles partner Marteena Huubere. She is partnered with australian youngster Fleriancediore Hingisafrilia in the doubles draw.
"This tournament has so many good players in that it is impossible to tell who could win. Teena Huubere, Selima, Lucia, Anabel, Nana, Tami, Brenda, Larissa, Paula, Gisele, Caroline... and a lot of floaters. Obviously, I'm not feeling good about my chances (LAUGHS). I'm partnered with Fler for this tournament. I've partnered with her before and I know her from Survivor so I think it would be fun, at the very least."
The Filipina and the australian duo will face Huubere and Masterton in the first round of double.
"Wow, our first tournament not together and we face each other in the first round! But seriously, I had fun playing with Teena this year although the losses have been really unlucky for us. I wish their team well though, not that well considering... (LAUGHS)"
Sarile lost in the second round of the US open, which was a huge dissapointment for the Filipina given the way she is playing this year.
"Of course, it's tough. I really, really have a hard time playing the majors for some reason. But I'm working on that."
Lindsay Sarile of the Philippines serves during her 2nd round match against Joana Seles of Poland at the 2003 Wisimilak International. She beat Seles 7-5 7-5 and is set to face Spain's Candela Sanchez-Connelly who upset the 8th seed, Selima Valentine of Germany. The day saw two other seeds - 6th seed Caroline Whitten and 7th seed Nana Kroulikova falter. The first five seeds though, were able to survive the round.
"I don't think she (Joana Seles) was playing at the level that she wanted to. Her backhand, which I believe is her main weapon, wasn't quite finding the lines. Nevertheless, she was still getting to alot of balls and I kind of got frustrated at several points. I was quite fortunate."
"Candela could be quite tricky. She's disguises her backhand well and can paint the lines with it. It would definitely be tough. I hope that I would be able to compete."

Lindsay Sarile of the Philippines hits a backhand against Spain's Candela Sanchez-Connelly in their quarterfinal match at the 2003 Wisimilak International in Bali, Indonesia. Sarile won 6-4 7-6(2) and will next face Rachel Spear who upset 3rd seed Anabel Conde-Martinez.
"I guess I played better today than yesterday. Still, it was definitely close. She was hitting some amazing spins and angles with that backhand. Fortunately, my serve was finding its target and I think she felt deflated at certain important points. It was a great match."
Sarile talks about her next opponent.
"Rachel is playing well this week, she has beaten alot of good players along the way. I have played her before and I know she can be quite tenacious and inventive with her shots. I hope I can compete with her."
Sarile and doubles partner Fler Hingisafrilia lost their quarterfinal doubles match 4-6 7-5 7-5 against Marteena Huubere and Paula Masterton. This is the first tournament where Sarile and Huubere were not partnered together.
"That was so fun to play. The match was quite close and the points were interesting. I thank my partner Fler and congratulate both Teena and Paula."
Kukova lost in singles against Brenda Van Haak of Belgium by 6-4 7-5 but in doubles together with the young Nika Beckham kicked Anna & Gisele by second week in a row in a match without much story, 6-2 7-5.
It is just Unbelievable for Samantha Soren right now. She has just made the semi finals in singles and doubles of the 75k Denain Tournament. In All of her wins she has defeated Seeds. "I am just really shocked at this point. I was expecting anything from this tournament because of my past results but now im full of energy and ready for my next matches." In the Singles Semi Soren meets Juliana Lapentti who knocked off Applegate and in the Doubles Semi Final with partner Joubert she faces Applegate/Vandecaetsbeek!

BALI SINGLES SEMIFINALS:
(4)Brenda Van Haak def. Jennifer Selles 7-6(7), 6-3
(2)Lindsay-Anne Sarile def. Rachel Spears 6-7(0), 7-5, 7-6(8)
Lindsay Sarile of the Philippines hits a forehand against Rachel Spears in their semifinal match at the 2003 Wisimilak International Bali. Sarile won 6-7(0), 7-5, 7-6(8) and will next face Brenda van Haak in the championship match.
"Rachel is quite the talent. She knows her angles and she is resourceful and inventive in her shots. As the scoreline suggests, the match could have gone either way especially in that third set. It took all that I could just to hold her off. Well done to her and I am sure we would be seeing more from this girl."
"I consider Brenda a friend. We played doubles for quite some time last year and even won the US Open. Though we split up, I hope it wasn't with ill feelings."
"She can really rally from the backcourt and is not afraid to go for her shots. I'm glad that she has done well and I hope I would be able to compete with her tomorrow."

Regla Torres: "I'm so happy to have won here. This is the first challenger I've played in a long time, and it's good to be back winning again. It's a good feeling. I hope to play well at next week's challenger too."
