They are 55 quid each, which i normally wouldnt pay, but maybe.....

Kelly

cant really afford to go to wimbledon....and cant really get time off work. Eastbourne is possible but it depends on the scheduling of my main exams which are in june...

beckl
Feb 16th, 2002, 02:16 PM
<<<<< lives 4 hours drive away from wimbledon, approx 6 hours drive away from eastbourne.
Not particularly close!

Hi everyone. My friend Joan has got tickets for Court One on womens semi finals day which means all the semis are played on Centre so we shall have doubles matches on court 1. However we are still going to go as we can always sit on the hill and watch the big screen particularly if Lindsay is playing.

I am in the LTA ballot which is drawn on 01 March so wish me luck for some more tickets, preferably centre Court!

Cheers for now - Jan

I have thursday the 4th, which i reckon is womens semis, on centre court.
Jan I have 2 tickets, but only need one..... They are 55 quid a piece, otherwise i suppose i could sell it while i was there, for huge amounts!!!!
I still dont know if im gonna go, i prefer to go the first week, see more matches and pay less!!! (clearly from the north, a slightly cheap skate bunch).
So im unsure at the moment, but certainly have been allocated 2 tickets.

beckl
God i hope linds plays

beckl
Feb 20th, 2002, 09:54 AM
So who is going to be in the q's, what about you Jan, with ur friend?
I will be sporting a tasteful usa flag, and a i support davenport type of t-shirt!
And will always be trying to blag my way onto centre court without a pass! I must admit they do have more security than other tournaments which makes this tricky!!!!

I read in the news paper - can't remember if it was last year or the year before, where the reporters were tipped off by a former employeee at Wimby that gate 7 (I think) was never suppervised. Apparently there was never any security or anything.

Anyway, these undercover reporters were able to walk through gate 7 without being questioned, checked or even asked for their tickets (which they didn't have). The reporters got a free day at Wimby, as well as meeting Martina Hingis, Andre Agassi and others. They also had a meal in the members section and watched a couple of center court matches!

So, I guess you could try that ;)

-bye for now, Rachel :wavey:

Beckl, let's compare...
four hours driving... versus about, oh, a 1/2 hour drive, 9 hour plane ride (and that's without stops, layovers, etc.!) ..renting hotel, figuring my way to Wimbledon.. I'd say that would be a good 24hour journey for me, at least. Even a trip to the US Open for me is a cross country journey, so count your blessings!
;)

beckl
Feb 21st, 2002, 10:24 AM
Hummm, gate 7 hey, I think i'll try that, have to wander aimlessly around till i find that!
Any other tip offs would also be good, but thanks for that rach.:D
Does anyone know which queue is the shortest i think it is the one not from southfields station, cos i was in that one last year and it was huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggggggeeeeeeeeeee.

I will be on Court One watching doubles matches on 4 July unless Beck wants to sell her Centre Court tickets. Also I am awaiting the result of the LTA Advantage ballot on 01 March to see if I have been lucky this year.

I have a USA flag (large one) kindly got for me by Rayrob's parents last year. I also have a Tower of Power banner which I have made myself and a tee shirt designed by Rayrob with TOP on it and Lindsay No1 and some of her tournament wins last year. So I guess they might know who I am supporting. Nikki has a similar tee shirt too, don't you Nikk?

GO GO GO LINDSAY.

just been checking the prices for eastbourne and i was really surprised..they are quite cheap (im a northerner as u can tell;) ) about £30 for the final and £3 for a ground pass. i'm seriously looking into going but dont wanna book tickets now incase lindsay doesnt play..cos i only wanna go if she does....do u think she will be playig by then???

are any other UK based TOPS planning on going to eastbourne? i dont really wanna go on my own so if u are and i decide to go we could all go together:bounce:

I was going to go to Eastbourne - as I've never been before, but now I'm going on a family holiday and helping to pay for it, I won't have the money to go as I would have to spend a night down in eastbourne too.

Still got the T-shirt then Jan? I remember being soooooooooo jealous when I made that t-shirt, I didn't think it'd come out as good as it did - you were lucky to get it back (not that I had any use for it) ;)

Kelly I was thinking of going this year to Eastborne if I can get the time off work I hope to go down for the week as its a bit of a trek from Manchester to Eastbourne just for the day.

Is anybody else going and do you have any useful info as this will be the first time at a Tennis match for me.

beckl
Feb 26th, 2002, 11:23 AM
I am also panning on going for a few days to eastbourne, but it all depends on if linds is playing, £3 for a ground pass, gees thats pricey (northerner), joking....Their security cant be that good, im sure we could try and blag our ways into press conferences etc!!!!!!
For sure I will go down if you others are.....

not promising...but maybe i will go to wimbledon..depending on work and college..

beckl
Mar 6th, 2002, 10:18 AM
Yay, Kelly is a possible who else, who else?
Come on guys the tickets are way cheaper, only 10 quid to get a ground pass, then as soon as you are in, you leg it over to ticket re-sale and sit down for a bit. Make friends with the people in the q, just incase you are wandering about when the first ticket goes on sale, they will buy it for you! (5 quid) for centre court, cant be bad....
Its that easy. You also must pray for a small rain delay, cos the business guys who have got free tickets thru their firm, generally leave at the sign of rain. (you getting ur resale tix quicker)

beckl

Kelly

sounds like your an old pro at it!

just wondering..how much roughly will accomodation be?

beckl
Apr 16th, 2002, 01:37 PM
I have just heard from the radio--a remote source... that linds is confirmed for eastbourne, woohoo, book my tix im there, sod work!!!!
Not sure bout the accommodation for wimbledon, take a tent...... Pitch it on random piece of grass. Cool. Sleep in the car, where ever..
I may have to look into this, also in eastbourne..... tent is appealing (beckl scrambles through 35p in her pocket)....
*Bump

ALL the best for lindsays return, wishing her well

I was in the LTA Advantage draw for Wimby tickets and I got onto the reserve list. Have to wait until 6 May to find out if I have been lucky or not.

I will be on Court one on 4 July with my friend Joan who has tickets but as it ladies semis day on Centre we will only see doubles matches or we could watch on the big screen on the hill when LINDSAY is playing. She has to get to the semis of course!LOL

Still thinking of going to eastbourne for a few days. God not looking forawrd to that 6 hour drive though!
As for wimbledon, i have decided to go for the first week, i know, i know...im cheap and cant afford the 55quid for the ladies semis on centre court. They are a rip off i have decided i am not going to have them. Bit of a shame though, but its just simple ...that i aint paying that much, i would rather q for 4 hours! and pay 15 quid on resale!
Hope i see some of you guys down there....
Is anyone else as cheap as me, and therefore will be in th first week q's?

beckl

Jan
Apr 19th, 2002, 11:43 AM
Kaz it is a pity we miss each other by one day as you say. I second your comment that you hope all TOP have a great time at Wimby!

Sorry Beck - I am not good at queing, LOL! Too ancient you know!!

beckl
Apr 26th, 2002, 10:38 AM
Sorry Jan but i am praying for small rain delays each day for the first week at least, otherwise no centre court (cheap) resale ticket for me.
Obviously its the way to go.
Whilst everyone else is running for the best grassy hill position, i am going for the first seat in the resale q and praying for rain delay!

beckl
I cant believe none of you guys will be q'ing the first week, its shameful!

Jan
Apr 26th, 2002, 12:20 PM
I have to work the first week of Wimbledon unless I do get tickets for the first week as I am on the reserve list for some, if that happens, the S*d work but I am going to Wimby!!

You are only allowed short rain delays then beck!

Nikki
Apr 27th, 2002, 05:06 PM
I went to Eastbourne last year on QF day, It was my 1st tourney & it was great. I got to see Lindsay practise & her match along with many others. I have a press pass for this years event, so I will most likely be going again.

Jan
Apr 29th, 2002, 12:02 PM
I have been to Eastbourne quite a few times and have been fortunate enough to have a weekly ticket and have made a holiday out of it. It really is great! Its a bit like a garden party atmosphere and you can get near the players so much more easily than at Wimbledon and autographs are easier to get too and watching them practice so much better in my opinion, too. It was at Eastbourne that I got Steffi's autograph. I hope to go again sometime and hopefully get Lindsay's autograph, but afraid I don't think it will be this year due to work commitments.

LETS GO LINDSAY :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Apr 30th, 2002, 12:27 PM

Cool thx guys it sounds good. I know what you mean about not been able to get near to players at wimby, its crap. I got loads of autographs when i was at the australian open a few years back, it was ace!

beckl

nikki i take it you are going to eastb this year then?

beckl
May 15th, 2002, 11:02 AM
:bounce: Now has a press pass for eastbourne, now tries to get one for wimbledon!
This is the not so pleasant reply I got,
Dear Beck,

Having being rebuffed by the organisers at Eastbourne what sort of
reasoning suggests the above Championships as an alternative for a
1st year journalism student?

The Championships are international event attended by players and
journalists at the top of their respective professions, I fear not
the place for a tyro to practice.

May I recommend the Nottingham Tennis Festival as a more likely
venue.

Yours,

John W. Lyth
I don't think I have much of a chance of getting a pass do you, none the less, ofcourse I have replied did you expect me not to?
I will update you!

beckl

Jan
May 15th, 2002, 12:43 PM

I visited the UK for six days in 1992 and it was one of the best vacations of my life. Tried to get moved there also but it hasn't worked out. Friends did at Lakenheath.
Am envious of you who reside in the UK/England. Also, of course you have Wimbledon, my fav tourney/Slam.
I sure hope Lindsay is so healed she will win it. Go Lindsay!!! :bounce:
