Maria Elena Camerin cheering thread

I saw her playing at the US Open as well and thought she also deserved a cheering thread. She beat Daja Bedanova, then lost to Davenport, but put up a good fight.

Ive never seen maria elena play, i had a chance at the US open, but then i couldnt watch....

She def. Daja 6-4 6-0! :eek: and is doing pretty well, she brought tammy till 7-5 third set, and also brought loit till 7-5 in the third set...

However, this week she is playing in Troy $50k and is the top seed. She's into the quarter finals and also in the second round of doubles!

Maria was runner-up in the Troy $50k. A good week.

I watched Maria Elena Camerin qualify to the main draw in Toronto, where she lost in a tough heartbreaking 3 set loss to lucky loser Janette Husarova. She has great shots, certainly the ability to crack the top 50, and has the potential to do well (as illustrated by her great showing in Hobart). I also saw her play doubles with Claudine Schaul, and they both gave Krizan/Srebotnik a scare. I even have a picture of her and me :D

I don't like your use of the phrase "Italian Drama" or the insinuation that Maria Elena used dirty tricks to win the match. If Lina is so mentally strong, then the outbursts had no effect and cannot be considered "tricks."

Chaotic I was there from saturday to tuesday, sorry I missed you.
I was present at her single match and unfortunately I couldn't see her with partner Tax garbin cause I had to go back home in Paris.

I was in the 1st row. and I must say that it was a difficult match for Maria Elena because of her nerves and for mine too

I was really sad for her at the end of the match she was really angry with the way she played at the end.

I tried to get her in pics yelling "FORZA" but I had to be very patient to take such a pic :p

Yes Ed, it was at practice, she played with Chladkova and was laughing all the time. Well she was relaxed :)

During the match, I believed in her strongly but at the 3rd set it was tough mentally for Maria Elena because her opponent played consistently and she seized the good opportunities.:sad:

to bad she didn't win that match! after the first set I thought she'd win the match.
but I'm glad I got see her play 2 matches again.

I don't know if she will play. I think that single matches will be played by Francesca Schiavone and Flavia Pennetta (Flavia is from Brindisi and they will play in Brindisi - red clay).

She could play in double, but i think that probably double will be played by Schiavone/Garbin.

However i think that this call in FedCup surely will do well to Maria Elena's spirit :)

I saw the match. I didn't like Maria Elena's approach. Obviously Bovina is stronger than Maria Elena, but Maria Elena was always too much out of the field and she played quite well only when Bovina was mistaken... She seemed too much distrusted in the third set... :sad:

Certainly, after the 4 MP wasted by Francesca against Dementieva it wasn't easy to be trusting :rolleyes:

Tough stretch for Maria. I was proud of how well she fought against Elena B in Fed Cup although I didn't like her game plan. Played way too defensively and didn't mix it up at all. Not one drop shot that I can remember.

Hopefully she can get by her opening match against Pastikova and gain some confidence.
