Tom Van Oppen

Congrats Mario!!!

Feb 3rd, 2002, 08:51 PM
it's a typical flemish sport. 3 Belgiums in top 3

Feb 3rd, 2002, 08:58 PM
Poor Erwin

Feb 3rd, 2002, 08:59 PM
We sure rule :)

Don't forget Erwin Vervecken would be in the top four if he didn't have those mechanical problems, and count Bart Wellens in the top 5 if he didn't have that horrible start.

Tom Van Oppen ... lol i prefer Tom Vannoppen, but who am i ;)

You're carot

Feb 3rd, 2002, 09:19 PM
pfffffff if Richard would have less bad luck, he would have been 3th or better ;)

But I supported Sven Nijs out of these 3 :(

Feb 3rd, 2002, 09:40 PM
Cyclo-what? ;)

Feb 4th, 2002, 12:19 AM
Does this mean Richard is gonna hit somebody again???? ;)

Feb 4th, 2002, 12:22 AM
hee hee .. the idea of walking around in the mud while carrying your bike around somehow doesn't appeal to anyone who isn't Belgian I guess:P

Feb 4th, 2002, 12:23 AM
It was a foul trick Mario pulled off in the end, refusing to let Tom ride away and take the title :(

Too bad Sven or Tom didnt win, they really deserved it

Feb 4th, 2002, 12:29 AM
Anyone should have won, but not Mario!
He's so arrogant! :(

Feb 4th, 2002, 01:11 AM
I can't stand Mario either, I wanted Sven to win. :(

Yay for Mario. Just face it, he's the best! :p

Feb 4th, 2002, 04:11 PM
Hes not the best, hes just very sly :(

The Crow
Feb 4th, 2002, 04:17 PM
Pffft Sven is just not one of the smartest :p

Feb 4th, 2002, 04:21 PM
Oh hes smart, hes just not fast enough and he refuses to play it dirty, thats all :p

The Crow
Feb 4th, 2002, 04:24 PM
Maybe that's his problem. I don't see anaything "dirty" about what Mario did....

Feb 4th, 2002, 04:29 PM
Tom asked him for permission to carry on with his attack the last 100 or so metres and Mario shook his head as in "no stay here, i want to win damnit". He had no right at all to do that, but then again maybe Tom shouldnt have been so good to ask him first.

Totally agreeing with the last bit... Why should Tom ask it, just do it.... Even if Tom didn't succeed, Mario still would have won probably. But what is Mario supposed to say. Go Tom, I will do nothing and you can win??? It was 1 of his last chances to win it again!

All those young riders should try a little more and go against what the older guys say (remember Sven with Richard Groenendaal 2 years back?).

Feb 4th, 2002, 07:11 PM
Oh yes I remember :)
2 Belgians crying, how can I forget ;)
No serious, wasn't it that Mario was crying cos he was dissappointed in Sven because he didn't (wasn't allowed to) hunt Richard and Sven was crying cos everyone in Flanders suddenly hate him?
I loved that! ;)

Feb 4th, 2002, 07:24 PM
I don't like Mario either. I think he's too arrogant and sly but congrats to him for winning.

Yes, 2 years ago everybody was mad at Sven cause he didn't go after Groenendaal and Mario was extremely pissed because of that. But Sven wasn't allowed to go after Groenendaal because of his Dutch sponsor which I think was unfair but understandable I guess...

Well okay that's why I don't really like Sven Nijs. He's one of the best, with the most talent and he was riding for the Belgian team, not for Rabobank in that particular event. Why should he have been scared of Rabobank (and Jan Raes)?? Even if he would have been sacked, all the other teams would have wanted him... But okay he gave his word to Raes (which was his mistake imo), and he acted according which is of course an admirable thing.

And Mario knows his possibilities more than everyone, and he exploits them 100%. It's not his faults the other don't do that, right? O and about his arrogance, when Mark Uyterhoeven asked the Belgians saturday who would win, Mario was the only one (of the 4 Belgian favourites), who didn't say his own name ;)

Feb 4th, 2002, 08:36 PM
I saw him say that. It just means he's a phoney too :p

Hehe, you're probably right about that one :p Just show he's the smartest of them all :p
