Following article was in today's Age. Great to know that Alicia has set herself a new target, and wouldn't it be fantastic to see her seeded at the AO. Of course 80% of the article was about the Scud, it would be too much to hope that any of our women could actually have a full write up of their own.

In the women's draw, Australian Alicia Molik remained upbeat despite her 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 third-round loss to 24th-seeded Paola Suarez.

But, rather than wallow in defeat, the 44th-ranked Molik was looking forward to finishing her best season on a high note.

"I've set my sights on hopefully being seeded at the Australian Open," she said. "It's a good goal to have and I think I'll get there, too.

"(Being) seeded in a grand slam means you're not going to play anyone better than you for at least two rounds. I won't run into a seed for a while."

Thats a great goal to have although just cause you are seeded doesnt ensure a good path

Pratt was seeded 32 at wimbledon a year ago and lost to then qualifier granville . . .

but hopefully on home soil alicia can be seeded, that would be awesome

I agree totally. However I'll bet it would feel great knowing that you are not going to get the Williams sister or either of the Belgian girls in the first round.

Hoping Alicia can achieve that goal.

Re Nicole being seeded at Wimbeldon, I remember that was the start of disaster for her. She didn't get any good results for a while after that.

but the chances of getting a good draw are better if you're a seed. but there are a few danergous youngsters at the moment so everyone needs to watch out.
