Meghann Adeva at Wimbledon this year

Filipina Meghann Adeva, this year's RG junior finalist and australian open doubles champion, announced today in a pre-us open meeting with the press her decision to give up juniors tennis to pursue studies and possibly law in the United States.

"It's funny, I have been playing my best tennis this year. But then, when I look at the possibility of playing in the pros, I really asked myself if I would want to do this forever. After months of thinking it over, I came to the conclusion that I don't want to continue after this year."

"Tennis has given me a lot of opportunities so I am definitely thankful. Teenagers like myself don't usually get to travel this much or meet interesting people all the time. But Tennis has also made em realize that I would want to continue with studies in the states, where my father and stepmother are right now. I am aiming for, or at least, very interested in taking law at Harvard. And that needs a focused mindset."

"I would like to thank everyone who has supported me through my short career. My fellow Filipina Lindsay for being a great "Ate" or big sister to me. My closest friend, in fact my best friend, on tour Leslie for being an amazing partner and an even more amazing friend. David, who has the guts to takeover the reins of the juniors cicuit and has done a superb job of managing everything. To past directors like paul and everyone, for doing your part. Alek who is like the God of FWTT. To Jane, Mary, Sophie, Caroline, Ruflina and everyone who have managed to be friendly in such a competitive atmosphere. Thank you everyone! I certainly will miss you all. Remember to have fun."

Kim Adeva

"My half-sister Kim Adeva will join the tour next year. I wish her all the best and I hope that she would achieve whatever she would want to achieve. I hope that everyone would make her feel welcome."
