I will post this tomorrow morning eastern standard time. I am exhausted from the day.

As a note, after about 5 PM, the only women's match I saw was Sharapova. Once I arrived to them to wait for Sharapova, I stayed at the Armstrong and Grandstand courts and did not leave them after 5 PM. So I missed all the outside court action in the latter part of the day. It was worth it though - I saw Tursanov beat Kuerten. Tursanov is amazing.

Anyway, after walking through the grounds at around 10:30 AM, I made it to the back at the practice courts and Davenport was practicing. Zvonareva was practicing on the court next to hers. Actually, at the time, Vera was just running around the court. After her practice, I ran to the exit to see if Davenport would come sign autographs. After enough people screamed for her, she came over and signed a bunch of autographs.

After watching Davenport, I decided to go through the courts once before heading to the main courts for the Henin match and the Dokic match. By the way, I was with a friend of mine and he was very good about joining me in running all over the place.

Players were walking to courts at this time and you can see this as a few of the players walked by me. Yulia Beygelzimer and Maria Sanchez Lorenzo as well as Mary Pierce. You can see Gehrlein in the back of the picture with Pierce.

I think Yulia was very excited to have qualified and gave me a wonderful smile when I took the picture.

I continued moving along. As you can see, there were a lot of people watching the Pierce match.

Some more players. I also added a Zvonareva pic. I watched her practice through the fence. Left this out earlier.

These were the last of the women I saw playing before I headed over to watch Henin and Dokic play.

I didn't bother taking pictures of the Henin match since I was so high up in the stadium. I did, however, take pictures of the Dokic match. There is a great overhang in the Grandstand Court which essentially allows you to take overhead pictures of matches. You can see this view in two of the Dokic pictures. Dokic played decently. She doesn't seem to be in the same class as the top 10 players though.

I think Mary has lost weight? Do you guys think so or is it just me? By the way Sgr1...if you can get any pictures of Milagros today and Sammy tomorrow I would be so grateful! Thanks:)

After watching Henin and Dokic, I made my way back to the outside courts to watch Myskina. On the way, I caught Safina practicing. This was only a few hours before she would play.

This was a long 2 set match. About an hour for each set. I watched most of the second set and it was a lot of fun to see. Belgelzimer really hung with Sanchez Lorenzo. I think Belgelzimer is more talented and will be top 50 in a couple of years. Sanchez Lorenzo doesn't have a knockout punch and it hurt her. She hits with two hands on both sides, but has trouble putting the ball away.

A couple of times, Sanchez Lorenzo was moonballing Belgelzimer. Yulia ran up at least twice and hit a running backhand on the fly for a winner. Sanchez Lorenzo's consistency barely won her the match.

An interesting note is Belgelzimer's ritual before she serves. She does a little dance, seems to say a little prayer and then serves the ball. Takes awhile.

I checked the practice courts before I watched the Myskina match. Saw Mauresmo, Hantuchova and Clijsters. Was far away from Mauresmo. Took pics of Hantuchova and Clijsters through a fence. The two of them were hitting with each other. It was fun to watch them.

Saw some of the first set. Myskina looked far superior. So confident. Didn't see Nagyova make her comeback in the second set.

Drake looked amazing in the first set. Overpowering Srebotnik. I can't believe Srebotnik came back.

Haynes looked great for awhile. Fairly athletic. Good forehand. Pisnik more and more played to Haynes' backhand. Haynes also plays a high risk game which is fun to watch. But she does make a good amount of errors. Pisnik was too consistent for Haynes and I think she had more stamina. Haynes plays a high energy game that takes a lot out of her. I look forward to seeing much more of her in the future.

Caught Rita Grande on the grounds. My friend pointed out Myskina walking to the locker room after her match. I was able to take a couple of shots of her signing autographs.

I was excited for this match. Two young players with potential. Gullickson, as was mentioned in another thread, was very nervous. At least 3 foot faults in her first 2 service games. She went down 3-0 and a woman in front of me started to say that she was not going to win a game the entire match. Well, she got herself together and almost won the set. I think she was up 5-4. She lost it 7-5.

I think Safina and Gullickson both have lots of improvement ahead of them. Safina has to grow into her body. She does not move nearly as well as she will need to to be a top player. Needs to get stronger as well. Gullickson has to learn to be more focused on the court.

Waited all day this for match. Match took awhile. Sharapova won easily in the final score, but there were a lot of long games.

I tried to get a close up picture after the match, but as you can see, people were so crazy, they got in the way. People went bonkers to get her attention.

They were basically going forehand to forehand with what appeared to be their coaches watching. Not a lot of running around. Tremendous consistency.

Even if it's a little late to ask now but do you think Jelena can beat Mary?

I didn't see Mary Pierce play, so my opinion is no better than anyone else's. I don't see why Jelena couldn't win. She looked fine.
