Will she?? I don't think she can have too many more cortizone shots in her toe before having surgery. Has she withdrawn??

From what I've heard, Lindsay can have one more cortizone shot; perhaps she was saving it for the Open. I believe she will try to play; but whether she can make it to the 2nd week is another story...

I think she said she can only have 3 shots in one spot...so this would be her third, then? I dunno either.

Knizzle,
Did you REALLY think that she'd pulled outta the Open?

She hurt her foot today. I heard her talk about her running out of cortizone shots in her foot until she had to have surgery, but I couldn't remember how many she had left. I want her to play though. I wnat to see a Kim/Lindsay semifinal. I want to see how Kim will react to playing Davy at a GS semifinal. She may be beating Davy at the non-GS tournaments, but the highest ranked player Kim has ever beaten is #7 Henin at AO 2002. It will be interesting to see if Lindsay's GS champion experience can counter Kim's talent and movement. LD was playing very well at New Haven though. It is just an interesting scenario.

Nah, I'm pretty sure she won't pull outta the Open. I'm pretty sure that she won't win it either, though. She has the game, but not only is her toe hurting, it's prevented her from getting into serious Slam shape that she needs to be in in order to win it. Just like with Venus - her injury is fine. She's just not in any match shape to play a Slam.

Expect JHH or JenCap to come away with the honors. Kimmie has the game, but I don't think she has the "head" to combat the pressures of this New York crowd who demands the best outta their players - no exceptions. JHH & JENCAP are both cantankerous enough to handle the crowd.

she hasnt pulled out and i hope she doesnt.win or not,it's always sad when a top-player cant play a GS.I'm sure she'll do everything in order to keep it going for other 2 weeks.

She says she's going to give it a go. She can have one more cortisone shot before surgery. It might give her enough relief to play for two weeks or it might not.

This is the first I had heard that Venus is healed enough to play but is not playing simply because she can't play well enough to avoid being defeated. I was rather surprised that one of her fans posted that.

"Just like with Venus - her injury is fine. She's just not in any match shape to play a Slam."

That's ACTUALLY what I said.

Same thing. She is able to play, but can't play well enough to win.

And even more the same thing when you put the rest of the quote with it.
"Nah, I'm pretty sure she won't pull outta the Open. I'm pretty sure that she won't win it either, though. It's not the same thing @ all. If you haven't been able to pick up a racket or workout in 2 months because you're rehabilitating, then it would be crazy to risk reinjuring yourself when you're not in any shape to play. It makes common sense to me.

It's not surprising that a non-Williams fan is trying to put words in my mouth. . .. LOL

No need to put words in your mouth.

You've interpreted this wrong, then. Anyway, you've never been a Venus Williams fan, and you probably won't ever be one. I'm satisfied with you thinking what you want to think about this situation. I doubt if it is any worse than what you have in mind already. :)

So you have to be a Venus Williams fan to read English? First I heard of it. You were the one who said that Lindsay was prevented from getting into match shape - just like Venus - her injury is fine.

That leaves only one interpetation. Venus' injury in no longer a problem for her.

It was only in your next post that you talked about her reinjuring herself.... that didn't come up before.

But you are sooooooooooooo cute when you wiggle. :)

Starr or anazazi(does that make you wiggle:) . . .LOL?) or whoever you are,
You would be the last to make me wiggle for anything. I'm thinking common sense should've led you to believe what I was saying. Again, interpret as you like. .. LOL. I know your feelings for Venus.

By the way, when was the last time YOU wiggled?:)

lol.. you are wiggling like mad to get out of what you said in plain english.

And......... you know.... people who are honest, don't have to wiggle as you do. :)

'zazi,
I'm very honest, Baby. Seriously, I can't believe you're continuing this dialogue with me. It's over. . . .LOL!!!!! Believe what you wanna believe. Seriously.

What I believe is that 1. Venus had a serious injury and is truly not ready to play in the USO, and 2. you aren't man enough to admit that what you wrote wasn't what you meant.

'Zazi,
If I didn't know what you were all about, I probably would be drawn into your little hateful snare. 1) Believe what you wanna believe. 2) I really don't care what you think I'm man enough to do. . . .LOL!!!!! Your ass is obsessed, Baby. Just like I told you on the old CBS Board, you can't have me in that way, girl.

Now, run along and try to fit into some other anti-Williams camp that is crazy enough to admit you. You're smarter than most Williams Haters, but I'm not sure you are intelligent enough to hang out with disposablehero and the crew.

I think Pureracket may not have expressed exactly what he meant, but you have to understand that Venus was only lightly practicing. So even if her stomach was okay, if she's not in playing shape, she risks tons of other injuries or risks reinjuring her stomach. She also has to get her wind and endurance back. The WS have written the book on coming back strong from injuries, but the reason they have is because they take all the time they need, they usually don't come back before they are 100% ready which is why they do well immediately when they come back. Venus learned her lesson at the French.

Knizzle,
Please don't try to explain this to this poster. She has a LOOOOONG history of not liking Venus or me. She understands perfectly what I'm saying. ;)

Plz don't Lindsay!!

But with an injury.... she won't be able to play her best and produce great matches against other top players... that's sad!!
