there will be no former champions left in the women's draw as she was the last former women's champion left.

Right now, her chances of playing the Open are 50% becuase she said she will have to see a doctor either today or tomorrow to for treatment and to see if she should play at all.

If she pulls out, the draw is decimated!! That means 3 of the top 5 players are out! That will surely pave the way for an all-Belgian final...unless Amelie gets healthy quickly.

Lindsay might aswell not play- she won't reach the semi's in her condition- having a injection might get rid of the pain for a few days but it could resurface in anyone of her matches next week and will probabaly do so... There is no point her playing if all she will achieve is a round 3/4 result and doing further damage to her toe- which will happen by playing with injections to reduce pain//it aint worth it cos she has no real chance of winning the open in this condition...

Problem is, if she does not withdraw today and withdraws tomorrow, there will be no seed adjustment made, and there will be another VERY weak quarter of the draw.

Davenport said she was going to her doctor to see if there is ANYTHING he/she can do to preserve her for the 2 weeks required to win the Open.

Think we're looking at a withdraw or early round retire.

With her injury coupled with venus/serena/muresmo/chanda there is no strong quarter in the usopen  ...its becoming a disaster and the womens game will suffer...How much airtime do you think women will get..imo a lot less than previous years-which usually aint much compared to the men.. :fiery:

First quarter still looks quite decent and unpredictable with Kim, Amelie, Dani ( three last year QF-lists ), Vera and Lina K.

Amelie's got problems herself, dani aint looked like a top20 player is months let alone top10...In any other slam we would consider a quater like that as really weak...

lindsay will play. even if she can get play a few rounds she will garner some pts to defend. Unless it is really really bad she won't miss this slam!!! :D

You should have seen her moving today. She looked worse after each game and niow that her side of the draw plays on Monday, it's not looking too good.
