6-2 4-0 retire....... Lindsay was crying it was sad, but Jen was great. She went over gave her a big hug, and consoled her... Jen was playing awesome, hitting all kinds of angles...

Hope you feel better Lindsay and we see you at the Open!

Yes, 'wins' is the operative word here.

Was it the toe bothering Lindsay? Anyway, it will be interesting to see if this helps Jennifer or if she doesn't really get confidence since she didn't outright win those two matches.

lindsay says she may get another injection before the open, but there isn't much she can do about the injury. its clear she needs surgery. she may be out early at the open as well. the usopen really sucks. and mainly b/c of venus and serena.

when you look at the polls its really sad, the results of peoples opinions to say that w/ the sisters out they are less interested than before

Starr, she said in her interview yesterday that she was looking forward to coming back after surgery on her foot at the end of season and being 100% for next year. She said it with a bright and sunny smile. Of course, she had just won.

Injuries have been really rampant lately!

It is not "lately". It is since Williams sisters pushed WTA Tour to that way. Ironically, they happened to be not made of iron too, and are heading the list now. But I predicted that years ago, when the trend only started, and it just comes true - Williams sisters pushed the Tour to athletic standards, that The Tour and , as it happened, themselves are not ready to maintain staying healthy. This is very sad. I just do not see the wayout.

Do you mean Lindsay? Or Jennifer?

Lindsay was crying abit in her chair after the match, then Jen came over, hugged her and talked ot her for a bit. When Pam interviewed Lindsay she said she was sad for the crowd not getting to see a fully match that she could be completely healthy for. She said she might get an injection, or just pain killers/tape etc.

what´s this crap?! Injuries aren´t new to the sport and restricted only to the Williamses... remember Graf, Seles, Hingis et al?! Everyone´s injuries some times in their career! This is the first time since ´97 that neither sister´s at a GS and all of sudden they´re injury-prone?!

What an insult to blame injuries on the Williams sisters

Monica is aging
Lindsay is aging
Martina Hingis blamed it on her shoe company

Injuries happen, it happened before the Williams sisters, it will happen when they leave.

How many injuries did Hingis sustain before Williamses started to beat her on regular basis.

No, it is just that in Top 10 there are maybe like two players who haven't sustained major injuries recently.

So?! and?! What does that say?!For all their healthyness and the sister´s " injury-proneness", there has been more all-sister slams than finals with the two players you´re implying.

i know u r trying 2 b nice but a backhander is a backhander.

jenny won fair and square both times, was in fact handing out beat downs, and would have done so regardless of opponent suddenly recalling illness/injury/disease/whatever.

Jennifer deserved this title.

After outplaying a "sick" Mauresmo (yeah, right), she simply was outplaying an injured Davenport.

GOOD LUCK AT THE OPEN, JENNIFER!
