Putting up today's pictures will take awhile. I will start with Jackson and Kapros. Thought Jackson would give Kapros more trouble than she did. Jackson just was not able to put the ball away. Seemed as though she was playing defense the whole time. She is very short which is a problem. Kapros didn't impress me. Oddly, she would periodically push a serve in instead of hitting it hard. She did the same with groundstrokes. Don't know the purpose.

This was a fun match. Rodionova kept screeching and whining about calls. At one point, she was upset and was going to hit the ball against the wall. There was a ballboy standing there, so she stopped momentarily. Then, she hit it anyway. Just missed the ballboy. Groenefeld was too much for Rodionova. Rodionova is a cute, smallish girl. Groenefeld is large and had too much power for her. Groenefeld could probably be even better if she lost some weight. I think she flattened out her shots since last year, but I am not sure.

Dulko is a very slight, pretty woman with a solid all around game. She moves fluidly and is extremely feminine. A pleasure to watch. I didn't think she would have trouble with Ahl, but she lost the 2nd set. Dulko came back strong in the third. Being only around 5'5", Dulko may have trouble breaking into the top 20. She doesn't have a ton of power, but should be able to get the job done against the top 50-100 players in the world in the future.

Just a pic. This match took forever. I think it was mentioned in another thread. Every time I came back to see if it was over, it was the same set!! You can see the difference in size between the two players in the picture.

There are always a few people standing around the court. But some matches do not get a lot of fans.

I thought Ashley was going to eat her for lunch. Fedak is so small. Ashley pretty much overpowered Fedak.

This was an interesting match. Rao was pretty annoyed after she lost. I think Yan was and is the better player though. Rao has improved from last year, but she is still some distance away from a consistent top 100 spot. Again, I think there is a little belly issue that needs to be taken care of. She is smooth around the court, but does not have great speed or power.

Yan is soooo thin. Yet, she runs powerfly. I like her potential. Another woman and myself chatted with her coach a little. He said he works for the government and seemed proud of Yan's development.

Douchevina should be in the main draw. She was head and shoulders above Nagy. Douchevina has good size, power and movement. Top 25 potential.

thanks for the pics? what was your impression at Wynne Prakusya??? was Kanepi too good for her? or Wynne played bad?

srg1
Aug 21st, 2003, 05:23 AM
For those of you that don't know, Koulikovskaya hits off both sides with a forhand motion. Every once in awhile, she will use a normal backhand. She chokes up on the right arm when she hits so she doesn't have to alter her grip. Unfortunately, she doesn't hit very well with the right hand, so I don't know what the purpose is!

srg1
Aug 21st, 2003, 05:24 AM
I barely watched the Kanepi match. Prakusya tried to stay in there, but I think Kanepi was too much.

Kirkland is decent, but nothing special. She has good racquet control and is a very tough fighter though. After the first set, it seemed as though Kirkland could do nothing right. However, even though the scores of the 2nd and 3rd set look bad, Kirkland made those sets last a long time. Lots of deuce games. Kirkland should go play in college.

I use the Sony P-5. I love the camera by the way. The P-8 and the P-10 are the latest models here in the states. It has 3x optical zoom which only takes you so far. If someone wants to buy me a camera with 6x zoom so I can take better pictures, they are welcome to:)

I watched the Scheepers v. Vanc match which was next to the Kirilenko match. Scheepers had at least one match point. Unfortunately, the ball was out during the match point and the line judge missed it. Then Scheepers went on to lose the match. Venc started hitting looping balls and let Scheepers miss. Scheepers is not the quickest player, but has a great cross court backhand that goes very flat.

I think Scheepers is pretty.

Arrghh I didn't see your last post, thank you so much

You're very nice, when you have the time you can send to: shot1@voila.fr
Can you cheer for her match she'll be on court no 8 but this is the lesat match scheduled?
It's the first time for her to play a grand slam apart the french open so she's lacking experience at this level she always play chalengers moreover you're right when you see her she doesn't seem physically to be a pro player. She needs to work on it (but she's a bit lazy!!)and the mental side too.I told her before leaving Paris that she had noting to lose I noticed that what I said, paid off.
I can send you a few pics too from her at the french.if you're interested give me an email adress ;)

OK - this is the last match for which I have pictures. I do have more pictures (xtras of Kirilenko and Dulko as well as some of Schett and some others) which I will post tomorrow morning. I need to go to sleep!! It is 2 AM here now.

I think Kirilenko is awesome. She is the Agassi of women's tennis in a way. The harder you hit the ball at her, the harder it comes back. She really is a punisher. Hits such a clean ball and disguises the direction of her background. Fantastic racquet control. Rarely on the defensive and hits a great ball on the run. Marosi was a test for her. As you can see, Marosi is a big woman and Kirilenko is a twig. But Kirilenko's consistency and accuracy wore Marosi down.

Incidentally, after the second set, there was a break for the heat and Kirilenko walked by Douchevina. Maybe they wouldn't talk to each other b/c Kirilenko is in the middle of a match, but they didn't even acknowledge each other.

Kirilenko wears her hat low and constantly has her head down which makes it tough to get good pics of her.

I am glad you liked Maria Kirilenko because you will then certainly watch her next match against ZHENG Jie on Thursday ;) . Jie just beat her in final at the Bronx and I hope she can do it again :) .

Zi and Tian-Tian will also be playing this Tursday. If you have the time to take some more pics of them, it would be great  .

Have a good rest and thanks for staying up until 02:00 to upload these pics. Very kind of you.

Patty lost in the last 16 in 3 sets to Henin Hardenne.

Thank you for the pictures. nice to put some faces to names.

Bis, Kaia Kanepi is from Estonia, was a superb junior and has had injury problems for the past year. If she is fit & healthy she is always likely to beat Wynne.

It was strange to watch her and see how much better she looks than almost anyone else playing the qualies. You can see it in the power. One of the pics is only of the back of her head. I just put it up anyway.

Vera will definitely be top ten...if she works real hard during the off season...especially in her focus, she has a great chance...of all the people I saw yesterday, Vera and Kirkland impressed me the most...Kirkland needs alot more work than Vera though.

I don't mean to be rude but if you take the pictures at 1200x1600 then you could crop them to 600x800 rather than resizing them and we'd see a bit more player and a bit less background.

But thanks anyway for all the effort you've put into getting them online and posting them here - I shall award you some rep points! :)

I think your name is appropriate. How about I email you all the pictures and you can crop them and post them. It would save me a lot of time and then you could have them how you like them. Cropping would take forever.

And with cropping, the pics would still be too large to attach. I have to have the pics under 100 kb. This is why I offered to email pics to people.

I thought Kanepi looked very sluggish against Kapros yesterday. Her head just didn't seem to be in it.
