Ummm... No. There will be trash talking by Henin fans and Belgians fans because they are #1 and #2, but everyone knows the real deal.

Yep, the real deal is: Justine has one slam this year, Venus no one!

If they are going to be negative about it, they may as well do it now as it has essentially already happened.

Actually, she's the 5th. Martina Hingis did it in 98 and 01. Arantxa did it 3 times in 98. Sandrine Testud did it in 99. Serena lost to Capriati 3 consecutive tournaments in 01 (including 2 Slams).

the point is that the main argument that serena (or Venus) fans use when discounting Hingis, davey, cappy, kimmie or juju having a higher ranking is that they "can't" beat Serena (or Venus). obviously this is not true for Justine. :)

Only by Serena fans, but the trash talking started the first time Justine beat her anyway, so no matter. :tape:

Why would their be any negativity with Justine being ranked number 2? IMO she is the true number 2 player in the world behind Serena and possibly number 1. She's won loads of tier ones, a grand slam, two semifinal of a gs, beaten the top players, she's proven herself. Anyone saying that she does not deserve to be number 2 is just getting themself. In fact, if anyone besides Serena should be number 1, it should be her, not Kim. But oh well, its Kim there now, but if Serena doesnt come back and start playing tournaments, and if Kim does not defend every single title she won last year during the indoor season, Justine will likely become number 1.

I agree. I think that Serena is obviously the best player in the tour but I think that justine has proven very recently that she is number 2. i think that kim is number 4 behind Venus.

Number 1 is 12 months. Not 5, not 16. 12.

Seems you have forgotten about a certain girl named Venus Williams who also beat Serena twice in '98. But I'm sure it just slipped your mind ;)

I checked Venus but thought it was once in 98 then again at Miami in 99. I was rushing through it. Make that 6.

Not by me, because she'll become #2 the same way Kim became #1: over Serena's injured body. Justine would be the Player of the Year if the voting was being held today, but the unfortunate fact is that Justine will become #2 after the Open even if she were to withdraw, simply because Serena isn't playing. ;)

I donīt care about the rankings, Kim and Justine are 1 and 2 cos Serena and Venus have been injured, I know Serena and Venus are the best out there.

You don't know because they don't play at the moment ;)

I think that it won't cause that much commotion as for Kim's number 1 spot

=> it's number 2 not number 1
=> Justine won a Slam
=> Justine won 2 times from Serena
. . .
