i hope not, cause she can earn more points by playing the quali.
last year's wc went to RITTNER, MÜLLER and E.CLIJSTERS. RITTNER played qf last year so i'm sure she will get one to have a chance to defend those points. and the others? ANCA and ALG? are there alternates?

Maybe Elke Clijsters will receive a wild card again, like last year?

i hope Elke will get a WC
then A-L could kick her ass and would earn good points :bounce:

LOL! So they'd have to face each other in the 1st round? Do they do that? Putting 2 WC against each other in the 1st round?

When will we get to know who will get a WC?
perhaps tomorrow?! i don't think that ELKE will get a md-wc. ALG and RITTNER and BARNA are my favourites.

matthias
Sep 16th, 2003, 10:49 PM
my favorit for the WC are ALG and Barna
Rittner will not get one, and she don´t deserve one
she old, and her time is over

matthias
Sep 16th, 2003, 10:55 PM
and we will not know the WC´s before friday
Friday is sing in for maindraw and Qualifiyng
and then they will see who need a WC
maybe anca Barna will not need a WC and get a Direct in
so the WC could go to another german player
it is the same with the qualifiyng WC
last year there have been several bye´s in quali

The list on the webpage says, we are at 22 entries. Frazier has been deleted, Dokic is in.

As Barna reached the quarterfinal in Shanghai and is around 55 in the rankings, I doubt she would get direct entry. She´ll need a WC. Rittner reached the quarerfinals here last year, but I doubt she and Marlene (injury ???) would be given a WC. I think that Grönefeld and Barna are the only 2 that could get a WC. Maybe even just one German gets a WC as Dokic already got in and it´s just 2 open spots.

matthias
Sep 17th, 2003, 11:00 AM
there are 3 WC´s

2 ordinary WC´s
and 1 Gold/Silver Exempt WC

Dokic got the Gold/Silver WC
so the other 2 WC´s should go to german girls

Anca and ALG

The good news: Anna-Lena will get a WC.

The F*CKING UNBELIEVABLE news: Elke Clijsters gets the last one. :fiery: :retard: :cuckoo:

I had to start a thread in GM about this because it's completely ridiculous !!! Pfffffffffffff.

Let's boycott this tournament. :p

That´s a shock. But definetly it´s pressure on the German team to get Kim to play and she maybe said or her management that Elke should get in too.

I don´t understand that Barna reaches 2 quarterfinals in Asia and why she isn´t granted a WC.

and we will see the same thing in filderstadt. last year there was only one wc for RITTNER.

thanx for the information about the maindraw-start. hopefully ALG plays on monday.

i also wrote an email to mr. ziegfeld and i hope to get an answer (but don't think so) - it would be interesting to know the reasons for this stupid decision.

Presse-Information (18. September 2003)

Nachwuchshoffnung Lydia Steinbach (Halle/Saale; TC Blau-Weiß

Sparkassen Cup erneut rund 32 000 Besucher erwartet.

Rittner beat last year Daniliidou here she has a lot of points to defend here.

WTF ??? This is the reason for giving Elke a WC ? These stupid plonkers should realise that they have some responsibility as tournament directors and should make decisions that make SENSE, and not out of personal preferences.

 :cuckoo:

Steinbach = young prospect ??? She's 23. :lol: :rolleyes:
Henke and Adriana Barna ? I don't mind. ;)
VISNA VULETC ??? She's 21, ranked 870 and a BAGEL-GIRL. :speakles: :silly: She's probably Mr. Ziegfeld's girlfriend.

One thing that isn´t mentioned in here so far is that Barna is still in China but they decide about the last WC between Elena, Iva and Babsi !!!

Now that they decided to give one to Elke and the best player according to the rankings maybe won´t arrive in time or jetlagged, they even don´t give it to her but 3 other players :(
