View Full Version : Whatever happened to Daja Bedanova?

I dont understand how she has slumped from this time last year... its shocking to think that 12 months from being a top 20 player she could be out of the top 100 althouther.

i'm wondering about that...
she was such an talented young girl
when she took out Monica Seles in US Open,
and yes, i still remember that match...

dont think she is talented enough to be TOP 10 though,
no doubt she WAS the most impressive newcomer in 2000,
but talent-wise, i just dont think she is up there with
Daniela, Kim, and Jelena, those 83's kids.......
dont think it's a good feeling for Daja seeing Daniela passing her,
but anyways, good luck

Not everybody matures at the same rate. She could hit the peak of her talents in a few years and be better than any of the "83 kids". I'm not saying she will, but she could.

Maybe her serve and volley technique just isn't cutting it. I haven't seen her play with this style. She is another IMO, who could be helped by bulking up a bit. Too thin.

She shouldn't be ranked so low! It's just wrong!!!
But every time I think of her I'll remember that US Open match against Serena. Daja wasn't playing bad at all but Serena was just
I had never seen her play like that before, she was devastating.

Daja missed the first couple of hardcourt events in AMerica beacuae of a achilles injury, she lost first round in quallies in Toronto and NEw Haven. She has struggled all year, in fact really her struggle began when she split with her dad as coach around Zurich last year, since then she has hardly won a match.

At the moment hte only thing holding her in top100 is last years US Open points so she will probably fall out next month  I was also told hs eapplied ofr German citizenship, Idon't know if this means she is thinking of changing who she plays for though.

With Daja's game if her serve is on the rest of her game fall sinto place, but if it is off the rest just doesn't work and this year her serve has been off a lot

Fucked up father-coach got the German immigration, so what's tennis?

I know it's so sad isn't it

Daja has so much potential and it's such a shame to see her ranking plummet week after week

I really hope she can return to playing some of the tennis we all know she is capable of playing :D

She needs serious gym work, but that been said, she just has to use the body she has.

Daja's problem is that she is weak, slow, and sucks. Her "success" (i.e., one good tournament 2 years ago) can be attributed to beating someone who has the movement of a tranquilized snail.
first of all, that win over Monica at her prime is nothing to take away from her,
Monica didnt suck, u dont see too many who can
out-stroking Moinca do u?.....
and she has a title, she she got to #16 at one time etc. etc........
even tho i never saw her as having the talents of Jelena/Kim to hit TOP 10,
but to me, she has it in her to be TOP 20, #150 is just a joke:rolleyes:
by the way, i think Fernadez or Pam said that she really liked
the way Daja moved or something.....cant remember.....

Does anyone have a recent picture of Daja, because the most recent picture I saw of her was back in April and it looked like she'd put on a few kilos.

She looked fine physically in New York - the problem is that she seemed to have no motivation to win.
