Considering Meghann got only 5 games off Aniko Kapros, on grass nonetheless, this isn't such a huge surprise. I'm convinced Meghann does best when nobody is talking about her. She did great from January-August 2001 quietly working her way up, and then did awful the rest of the year and all through 2002 when people started taking notice about her ability. Suddenly people stopped caring and voila!, she did great up until the last couple of months when people were raving about her win over Venus and her ripped physique.

Still, a win is a win for Dokic and I'm sure she will take anything she gets

yes Jelena. she'll take any win she can get, and saldy this is her best win of the whole entire year.

Given the recent results, its hard to say if Jelena is improveing or if Meghann is getting worse.

there is a reason Jelena could not defend any title,
other than those tournaments being Tier I,
she was never able to get into the "defending" mode,
now that she is unseeded for the first time in 2 yrs,
last time she wasnt seeded was right here in 2001,
she can do better...so GO GET IT GIRL..:D

It's too bad that Jelena will now have to play the #1 seed, Lindsay Davenport, who holds a commanding record over her, having never lost. Go Lindsay! If it were anybody else, I would also like to see Jelena put together a few wins in the same tourney.

I was at this match. Jelena played great tennis but Meghann played like shit.

well meghan already beat jelena this year so it was a good result nevertheless and this will put jelena bak on trak for her top10 ranking coz she didnt play this event last year AND megan is ranked higher!
