This is really good for the fans! a lot of the matches went to 3 sets. Is it because of the top players are missing? or is the competition in women's tennis becoming tougher and tougher. Last week in LA many tough 3 setters were played also.

what do you mean not a good week? i'd rather see these tough matches then seeing the like of Williams, Clijsters, Davenport and Capriati beat the hell out of their oponents with a score like 6061 6162 6262 etc..

I think these matches recently have been great, really exciting three setters, long may it continue!

From what I've read, Elena D vs Mauresmo was the match of the tournament, altho what I saw of Justine vs Elena D was spectacular too.

Long may these type of matches continue (as long as I get to see them :))

I think that its because really high quality MATCH UPS have happened this week because the lower ranked players where getting through.

I went to a tier three event in BMH and you get a lot of three set matches like this week amoung the lower ranked players.

it's much more exciting this way. i watched some of henin-petrova, henin-bovina (not 3 setters, but still fairly close), clijsters - krasn., mauresmo-dementieva, suarez-kras. - and i enjoyed most of those matches! :D

i think that the gap between the top5/10 and the top30 is becoming smaller.
