These days, every time I visit this forum or go to any tennis website, I am scared that I will read a news that Venus withdrew from the USO. If that happens, I don't think I will follow the USO. I hope her injury is getting better. But, I think Venus doesn't care about her fans. Why doesn't she give us atleast some news about the injury? I heard articles which say the Williams family was very reluctant to speak about the injury. That, IMO, is not a good policy. Anyways, hope venus plays USO and I don't read about any withdrawal.

Believe me, I'm not waiting nor hoping Venus will withdraw. I'm just glad some Williams fans are realistic enough to realise there was a problem and maybe even still is, rather than just proclaim her the 2003 champion before her name even appeared in the draw.

The last I read is that she was on the practice courts and free of pain. So it seems she's a virtual certainty to at least start the US Open.

Venus cares...perhaps she and her family want to evaluate how Venus' practice sessions go next week before making a final commitment to the US Open. I hope her health permits her to play

That what I feel. I have to be honest I think it is very unrealistic to think that Venus will win the Open. She has been off for two mounths and has had no warm up touries. For me if Venus does play if she does make it to the second week then thats a bonus as far I can see.

eta psi, her agent spoke for her, and said she was training and practicing, and that she wanted and expected to play the US Open.

Venus will appear at the Open! As long as she can walk.....she will be there.

don't worry, if Venus shows up she will be ready. Who knows? She may not win if she is still ailing, but I hope she is ok to play.

Some things are uncontrolable. :D

Holy shit man, I feel the same way. That's ironic. I always fear by this time next week or earlier I'll log on here and read "Venus withdraws from the USO".

..But as I'm reading through this thread. I'm hearing some good news. So.. *whew* I hope it's true. Go Vee! Miss seeing you on court. :)

I also feel the same way. This summer hardcourt season has been a disaster for me, except for Kim doing well. But Serena, Venus and Monica out with injuries during the season of their strongest surface...it just sucks!! But here's how i look at it...Serena's ALREADY had an amazing year with winning two grand slams. Venus has made it to two finals and has been injured for a good portion of the year. And Monica... hope she gets better very soon.

Since Serena and Monica will be out of the USO for sure, I'm pinning my hopes on a Venus-Kim final. :bounce:

My fear is that she may not win the Open. But on the other hand I can't phantom anyone beating her.

I believe the Williams sisters are very silent about their progress with injuries or the occurrences of injuries because of their opponents, or potential opponents.

I believe Venus and Serena don't want the competition to know that they are injured. If the competition knew, it might give them extra hope and confidence that they can beat them.

But, when the competition knows they are injured and have been out for a long time, I believe they keep it secret because they want the competition to believe they are still injured or hampered in some way, and then show them how healthy she really is.

But then, there is also the possibility that she is so-so for the US Open, and has still not made any decision on whether she will be healthy enough.

That's what I think. ;)
