As far as I know we have to send the avarage of our combined points on hardcourt. So if I am 103 and you are e.g. 101, we send 102 points.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

Bones/Gambill into doubles semi's
Youngsters Susan Bones and Sophie Gambill moved into the semi final's today with a 7-5 6-3 win over the third seed's Bajul/Mahler. Bones, who took the singles title last week, teamed up with Gambill to play flawless tennis.
'It was really fun today. It was a very high quality match and I'm very glad to win'
Speaking about her 2 losses this week, Susan seemed quite happy.
'I won a title last week, then I didnt have much time to rest because I had to play qualifying because of my ranking not being high enough. It was very draining playing three matches and losing two of them. I hope I never have to do that again'
Bones/Gambill now play the top seed's Morkovina/Larouche

Aug 16th, 2003, 10:14 PM
Katarina "arghh I am so frustrated with my game right now, I am very sad that I am ranked only no.8"

Katarina/Natalya  after winning last week.

Aug 16th, 2003, 10:18 PM
Go Susan/Sophie

Aug 17th, 2003, 08:22 AM
Diana Mahler happy with her late results in Toronto. Mahler, who did not play in the last two tournaments, reached her semifinal in Toronto by beating 7th seeded Molik in two tiebreak sets. "It is a great feeling for me, this year is amazing. First I won my first tournament and then only two weeks later I was the winner of Wimbledon. To stand in another semifinal is a great chance for me to stay 2nd in the rankings. I would like to thank all the people who helped me..."

Questions for Alonya and Slutina please…

Q> Congratulations, you must be very happy…

Alonya> Yes it’s the first title for us both, in either singles or doubles.
Slutina> Yeah we’re really happy, you know, we just can’t believe the week we’ve had, we have beaten so many good players.

Q> How did you find each other…

Slutina > She asked me…
Alonya> Yeah, Hedgiva became pro, so I had no partner, and Slutina was just starting so it seemed ideal for us to pair up, I has seen her playing, and yeah she seemed like the real deal.
Slutina> Things have been really good for us.

Q> Alonya, are you pleased to have beaten Dorissya after she beat you in singles…

Alonya> Well yeah, shes the player to beat, you know she won the title here, and she seems untouchable, Marie-Eve is a good player…
Slutina> Who you’ve beaten….
Alonya> Thanks! yeah and shes a good player to, so you know to beat them, the number one seeds is a huge accomplishment. You know its not like I was exerting revenge on her for beating me in singles or anything….

Q> Do you and Dorissya hate each other…

Alonya> No, well I don’t hate her lets put it that way, we just competitive, and we like to beat each other on the tennis court, we get on off court okay, we are not friends but in this kind of sport, its hard to make friends. We talk about stuff like music, or the weather.

Q> Do you think Dorissya is unbeatable?

Slutina> No, Meghan has beaten her, and other people have come close…
Alonya> I would say she is defiantly the favourite for the Us Open though
Slutina> Yeah definatly.

Q> You are two players who are said to have outside interests other then tennis. Will this maiden title, make you concentrate more on your tennis?

Slutina> Tennis is our top priority
Alonya> Definatly, we have both done some things in the past, but I think when you are young, and you are as talented as we are, then its healthy to do other things.

Q> Will you still film commercials?

Alonya> You know its doenst take that much time, and we don’t practise as intenslty anyway…
Slutina> Yeah we save that for on the court.
Alonya> Also, this sport is my pashion, and I need extra money to continue that. I come from a poor background, all the money from the Mastercard commercial, I bought my Mother Rauza a house with.

Q> What about your music career, when will the album be out?

Alonya> (laughs) there was nothing permanent, I did not commit to anything, you know it’s a one album deal. I did consider maybe dedicating extra time to it, when things where not going so well, however now I think its something that’s been put on hold.

Q> So has your contract been terminated?

Alonya> No, the contract was not you know, not a big thing in my eyes, when I originally signed the deal, I was under the impression it would be a release of some of the songs I recorded for the ‘Flower which swallowed the moon’ album.

Q> So a re-release of a Russian album?

Alonya> No the songs would be in English

Q> So when will you re-record…

Alonya> No no no, I have already done English versions, my record company thought it would be a good idea with me going into eurovision just in case I won.

Q> Slutina is it true when you are 18 you will pose for Playboy

Slutina> Im sorry I am in no position to comment on this right now.

Q> Will you two be playing dopubles next week?

Alonya> We think so

(both laugh)
