Daja's slump continues. This loss was in the qualies, so Daja didn't even make the main draw. 9 months ago Daja was #16 in the world! She's only 20 years old. What's the story with Daja?

A great win for Mashona nevertheless. I wonder if she is also struggling with the weight. (Ala Hantuchova.) Maybe her serve and volley technique just isn't working...

Daja seemed to be playing every single shot better than Mashona but then when came important moments... Trying a drop shot from the baseline at 4-4 in the third set tie-break would be a good example:(

Yes, it is quite sad that she can't make tier one events on her own merit. A real struggle. Hey, Russianfan, did you see Tu play today? What is up with that serve?

Nope, unfortunately, I am back in Montreal:(

Anxiously awaiting my week in NY though:)

Daja has made an effort to put ON some weight to add more power to her game. It seems to be a conscious effort to keep up with the power players. I saw her eating like crazy before and after matches - healthy stuff, not junk food. Looks nothing like Daniela anymore. Saw some pics of her during the first round of Fed Cup and she looked much bigger than before. Maybe she is struggling with the fitness with the extra weight she has put on. She was a skinny girl. Any weight she put on would immediately become fat because she doesn't have enough muscle to metabolize it.
