ALLEZ AMÉLIE!!! :bounce: :yippee: :bounce:
Just found this (don't know whether to  or  ) :
.....Mauresmo, the third seed, has battled knee and rib injuries this season and, with the exception of Fed Cup, hadn't played a tournament since June before arriving in Toronto. Back pain forced her to call a medical timeout in the second set...... "It's something I've had for a few years now that is coming sometimes," said the 24-year-old. "It's something in the lower back on the right side, when I serve I can really feel strong pain."
Mauresmo..........had planned to play in the Pilot Pen in New Haven, Conn., next week, but will decide on the weekend if she is able to play.
 *A blessing on your back*

I'm sure she'll make the right decision the main thing we don't want is her missing yet another Slam. I'm sure she'll be o.k for it but it's a critical time to get an injury like this one.
*many blessings on the lower right back*

According to the tourney office (in response to a thread that shall remain nameless :p), she is playing :D Her first match will be Wednesday against Casanova. Glad that she'll have an extra day to rest her back :D
Lapin, I've heard of having two left feet - but two left hands...... [/size]
( some people are so observant! ;) ) I've amended it especially for you Linnie! ;)
Damn, shall be at work tomorrow whilst the match is on! Hope that someone can give us a 'match report' afterwards (hint, hint ;)); Eurosport don't start their transmission until Thursday! :( ;)
Bonne Chance Amélie!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Amelie won. Myriam outplayed her. Myriam's inexperience got in the way at the net after she constructed great points and blew the putaways. She played a couple of good drop shots and got carried away with success and Amelie ate most of the rest of them up. Myriam had one or two aces and earned the rest of her points the hard way. Her backhand crosscourt got her a lot of points. Her forehand crosscourt cost her. She ran Amelie around and dictated more of the play by a long shot. She took a bad step a few games from the end and was hampered by an ankle problem. I thought Myriam's weight was going to get her, but she held up pretty well to the heat and the long sets. The heat rule was on.
Amelie was holding easily at first and making Myriam fight for her games. Amelie's serving was okay and she hit some aces. (5?) It was the best part of her game. Her forehands went wild a lot. She let herself get pushed back a lot and didn't come to net much but did very well at it when she did. She fed Myriam too many short balls. That picture of her with her fist up but her face not matching…well that says it best. Thank God for Myriam's errors.
Amelie got very upset three times over line calls. The last time, some of the crowd got upset for her. Some were yelling angrily and they applauded as Myriam ended the next point by hitting it way out. Shriver seemed to be sympathetic to Amelie on the calls. She didn't say much, though, and we didn't get any replays of the suspect calls. Amelie was cute when she was angry. She doesn't put a lot of oomph into her anger. She didn't let it affect her play.
Myriam got a similar call at 5/4, 30/30 as Amelie served. Myriam was really upset. Amelie never paused for a second as Myriam began her small performance over the call. I guess Amelie figured turnabout was fair play. She took the next point for the match.
It was not a good day but she got through it. Myriam looks like someone who will be playing some really good tennis in the future. I know she's been down, but she has some great stuff. Amelie had some real power coming at her. Myriam may develop a fine, powerful serve, although it's not there yet.
"Not her best play"… Shriver commented on that, pointing out that she was there to get match tough because she missed so much with her injury.

I forgot to say that at one point, Amelie was up 7/5, 3/0. That was two breaks. Then Casanova broke back and held to put herself back in the match. Somehow, I thought Amelie was just shooting herself in the foot, so to speak, not keeping her momentum.
In the first set, it was 3/3 before Amelie broke. She was broken once. She broke Casanova, again, and fought to serve it out. I think it went to deuce twice and she had three set points before she closed that set out.

Bella, not much more I can add :) She'll have to raise her game a few notches tomorrow against Ai.
From Yahoo: ( http://sports.yahoo.com/ten/news?slug=ap-newhaven&prov=ap&type=lgns )
"It was a very tough match, very intense,'' Mauresmo said. "She was going for every ball, hitting the ball very hard.''
Mauresmo is nursing a back strain that gets aggravated when she serves. She said her back felt good Wednesday, but she was still being careful with the U.S. Open beginning next week.
