It's unfortunate, but how many GS are like this? I think these are unique situations and it's always interesting to see who can take advantage, thus even more interesting.

I don't think it's interesting. I find it boring. IMO, it's almost a sure thing that Kim and Justine will be the finals. No disrespect to the others, but they aren't on the same level. That's why I love the AO and WB semis. The sisters vs. Beligans...the best match ups in tennis.

Seems like this year only Belgians and Russians are out of trouble!

I think it's worse.

It makes even more predicatable.

The question is, will Kim win her first GS, or will Justine grab #2.

*Assuming Venus pulls out of course, and everyone else is still injured.

it's bad but i also think it is good. in the long run it could make womens tennis more interesting. a grand slam winner always has more motivation than than kost on the tour. so if some of the young players can come through then we may actually see more competitive tennis at the top of it.

Stevenson? Who gives a crap? Let's have a little mention of a player who actually matters, ie Monica. She has not officially withdrawn nor have I read any comment from her about the likelihood of her playing. She deserves to be recognized as "very questionable" as opposed to being skipped in favour of a player with no chance in hell of making the 4th round.

This has to be the most messed up field at the Open in years!! Damn, nearly three-quarters of the top 10 is missing!!

Amélie's over the rib injury. She just has to take care of her head now ;)

with this kind of a field, we could really see a surprising winner, someone like davenport, seles, or mauresmo. or it could turn into a belgian affair that wouldn't be too much of a surprise.

martina hingis should get a wildcard!!!
