What a pity! They bring so much excitement, anticipation, and "color",to the game! Hope they are all better for the USopen. However, I am fearful of a Toronto scenario.

Hell, they can't win everything. They know when to rest up. I bet an African American win the US Open.

how is it really any different from people loving the russians, or rooting on Asian girls, which neither offends me. I'm not offended by belgians only rooting for the Belgian girls.

Just wondering what you all think when you see threads dedicated to these people?

Maybe because Russians are Russians, Belgians are Belgians and Americans are Americans regardless of what their skin color is such that refering to African Americans as different from the other American players is like saying that there should be a distinction?

Im guessing.

But, aren't humans humans? why make distinction based on geographical location?

May be Venus, chanda and Alexandra are scared about the promised crackdown on Blacks by the toronto police chief. :p

Hmmm so now African Americans have their own separate country?:p Gee I always thought they lived in the USA, making them Americans.

Belgians: Americans::Whites: Blacks

They don't intermingle.

Wow, I've never seen a non-white Russian and Begian playing tennis but I understand your point.

Let me ask if the person had said all the southern girls are out. They bring excitement to the game. Would that be offensive? Leaving out the rest of the girls from different states eventhough they are all American.

if u wanna cheer for them cos they got blisters on their lips and u have one too go right ahead.

If u wanna hate them cos their ass is big and you wish u had a big ass then go ahead n boo.

whatever whenever just do the damn thing and enjoy it ...........

Actually, it's a new law. All Blacks have to leave Canada. They've already stated moving them down to Acapulco on foot in a reverse of the the Trail of Tears. Canadians on the whole, of course, are far too polite to impose on American hospitality by dying in droves along the way. Nonetheless, to avoid any unseemly historical parallels, these future Mexican near-citizens are treated with nitrous oxide three times a day along the march. The Washington Press Corp has started calling it 'The Trail of Giggles', a name I think may stick.:)

Top reasons there are no African Americans in Toronto this year:

New tournament sponsor, Clorox, should have been a tipoff.

Tennis Canada refused to play a rap version of "Oh Canada".

With Sonya Jeyaseelan back on the tour, the tournament had already reached the legal melanin limit for the city.

Airport officials mistakenly sent them to the Raptors, assuming they were basketball players.

Poor exchange rate for the Canadian dollar triggered a case of the "Toronto flu".

New tournament director was a player all of them beat badly.

Canadian Parliament enacted a tariff, forcing tournament to showcase "fine Canadian booty" instead.

Stadium court lights not working, and tournament officials were afraid fans wouldn't be able to see them during night matches.

Did I miss any?

whatever...vee fans need to be worried about her status for the open...i know for a fact that carlos her agent said that the goal was to play toronto and if she had to pull out, it would not be a good sign for the open

Hmm, well I am indeed very sorry that Serena, Venus, Chanda and even Alex are out hurt. Their ethnicity, race, religion, or for that matter any other characteristic, is not the reason why.

I think we should be thinking of these players as individuals that each had their own reason for withdrawing. I agree with maccardel, cheer for who you want and move on! Personally, I am sad that Chanda won't be there because I love Chanda. The race issue seems to be a coincedence to me. I guess I'm color blind? Honestly, I think that most posters feel the same way. I am not afraid of how the tournament ends up panning out because it will end up being a great tournament for the players who go far there. Just wait until the draw comes out and support your favorites! Is it really that complicated? Not to me....

11: The tournament directors decided to outfit the ballkids in flowing white outfits with cute pointy hats.

And should we start testing their water bottles for Temesta?

Kidding aside, I suppose it's an interesting footnote, but what I do find upsetting is the number of top players on the DL recently.

12. The promoters needed more entry positions in order for the Canadian gays to play. :)

Nice, eh?
