Everywhere I go I read that the sisters only win because of their power and that they arenīt talented. Is this true?! Can one win and be that succesful only with power and athletiscism?!

If they couldn't play tennis then they would be hitting balls out all the time...

You might want to ask Mike Tyson, but be careful not to make fun of his blonde wig while he's making that ESPN commercial, or he'll bite your ear off! :bounce:

They are talented, that's for sure.

Even if they hardly play tournemants, they can still be the best.

Kim is truly talented but that Elke girl? Well lets just that getting into the top ten will be like Erkle marrying Halle Berry.

Well i think its pretty obviuos to sane people that the sisters are unelievably talented, the most talented tennis players out there, if, by my reckoning talent=potential level of play.

However, to the dimwits who say otherwise, then one can argue then, what does talent matter, if it does not equal the best, since the sisters are clearly the best tennis players, even if they are not talented.

Id rather have the grandslams, than the talent :bounce: :)

In every thread about the sisters or something so "touchy" I always see the creator of the thread with only these small amount of posts....they are all new here to wtaworld. I don't know if this is the new trend of if some of these "newbies" were just banned and returned with new names....whatever the case, I feel like I got left back in school and in my class is all the new kids while I am old and onto their tricks....

I don't know if wtaworld did some kinda mass advertising or some promotional thing but there are so many new kids here and they all seem to be thinking alike with the same agenda and the same phrase of mind.........hmmmmmm

I really think they are talented. They do not use only their power.
What I would say, is that they can beat some player by using mainly power. They can outplay and thrash some players as no-one are able to, thanks to their power.
But I do not think that this is their only great weapon.

i believe the most talented in ANY sport are the BEST team/person

tennis seems to be the only sport most people believe to be exempt from this list  they are amazing, won loadsa slams etc, but they arent the most talented. something seems wrong here to me

people think talent is about spins, angle and strategy. but i'll tell you something, it also takes a hell of a lot of talent to hit the ball has hard as the williams sisters do and consistently get it in. but they don't just have power as a weapon. their speed and return of serve are pretty damn good as well.

if all that was required is power and athleticism, the following players would have grand slam singles titles as well:

clijsters
rubin
mauresmo
dementieva
dokic
schett
zvonareva
petrova
raymond
hantuchova

Right....there are other talents too. It doesnīt have all to be about spins, dropshots, etc.

If it was all about that then why arenīt those " talented" players winning then?! You canīt win if you donīt have talent!

A very simplistic vision. Accuracy, timing, technics, strategy, position, ... are as well factors that are needed to be a top player and I don't doubt that all those players on your list have that as well. By the way, I don't doubt that some players on that list will have a grand slam singles title sooner or later.

You sound angry man. What u gonna do? Come through ur comp and bitch slap me....I could say whatever I want and if I don't want to answer it then so be it........I am scared......ooooh.

You know what? Your lead question of I didn't know the william sisters were so untalented doesn't make sense with the body or the actual statement that u wanted to ask.

you basically answered your own question....so why would I become a cheerleader and say the same damn thing.....what u are trying or maybe it wasn't intentional but what u implied is that how can they be so untalented and yet successful, but talent begets success so it doesn't make sense what u asked.....anyway not trying to anger you cos I dont like battling up in here......aight...............one

i was responding to bandabou's post:

bandabou asked "can one win and be that succesful only with power and athletiscism?!" and my reply (with listed players) was in response to that. venus and serena have more than power and athleticism, which is why they have grand slam titles and other players don't.

i agree a few of them will win grand slam singles title before they end their respective careers.

Fantastic

Talent is the ability to understand the game. I guarantee that Venus and Serena have that quality. A lot of people confuse talent with technique. It's great to look at players like Justine Henin-Hardenne and Martina Hingis, and say that they have the most talent. That's probably true, but we're only looking at their technique. That's what we see on the outside. What we can't see is inside - where the talent resides. Every person that plays pro tennis has a command of the game, but it's those with the most "talent" that go all the way to the top. You can have great talent without great technique - Steffi Graf, Monica Seles, Venus Williams, to name a few - but there's no way in this world you can succeed by having great technique without great talent.
