Day started with disappointment as Nagyova had to, once again, withdrew from her match. Leaving days play to just 4 singles and 1 doubles as Henke had to withdrew from other doubles too.

Positive side of that was that could concentrate on one match at a time.

First off Czink and Medina Garrigues in really tight battle.
Melinda had more power of them so Anabel had to run more. Many games went to deuce and end result wasnīt obvious at any point.
Good show. Memorable game. 4th in the 3rd. Czink serving and had advantage. Anabel was cursing (in Spanish but I think "puta" is not nice word) And eventually got warning for time wasting. Melinda then made couple bad shots and lost that service game. Hit ball to the crowd and got warning for ball abuse.
Had on MP at 5/4 or 5/3 (sorry canīt remember) but made mess of it. And donated a re-break to Anabel. Looked like Anabel had mental edge at that point. But well what can I say, Melinda regroupped and won it in style. Break to lead 6/5 and held pretty easily to book a match versus Vera. That should be interesting re-match.

Then Talaja and Ondraskova. Believe me Zuzana can play very well. In 1st set she was firing on all cylinders and Silvija didnīt knew what had hit her. 0/4 down looked like she had given up on that set though.
2nd was close but Zuzana started to make more errors and in third all she did was errors. So expected winner with bizarre scoreline.
To be fair it was one set match (the second) and Silvija was little bit better on it. Good show too.

Same time. Court 1 action between Koulikovskaya/Tatarkova and Cervanova/Benesova

Iveta should know that she was weakest player of the match. Continuing singles form, or lack of it by making way too many errors.
Elena had couple long medical timeouts. Looked like she showed her forehead and then they checked her bloodpressure and such but got a go from trainer. One funny point. Cervanova or Benesova barely got one ball back and it got over the net by about 2 centimeters. But had very high bounce so all that Elena had to do is to hammer is somewhere. She hits it with full force but directly to ground. So it bounced another 20 meters or so straight up. Was pretty easy for Ludmila after that  Glad that Evgenia/Elena won as I wouldnīt have like to see Evgenia to lose another tight match. :)

Then Marrero and Kostanic, not much to tell to next generation. Marta made 3 DFs in 1st service game and I was like, oh no here we go again.
Made total of 10 "only" in 7 service games (none bounced before net today but one nearly hit baseline) and looked like she had better percentage in 1st serves than in 2nds  Actually if Iīm not mistaking she made some five 1st in a row at one point.
Jelena was little better on pretty much everything so booring match. And for the first time spotted that Marta had some protection on her serve arm. Clearly not fully fit. Poor Marta

After them, main event, Pistolesi - Casanova

Quite clear script in this. Myriam was one who hits it. Anna got nearly all back, and with good lenght. On key points it was Anna who took control of point and whacked it past Myriam who have to say played much better than yesterday. Supertalent and will be up there with the best in years to come. :bounce:

Weather around 22C, half cloudy, mostly sunny but very windy. Crowd about 800.

That concludes my daily reports as tomorrow I change Wta rallies to Wrc Rally. Canīt be in two places at one time  See you next year in Stockholm :wavey:

Oh and another note.

There were some company guests or some who had probably not seen tennis ever before. Had to listen them when they argued about doubles

It went something like this:

Man A - So how do they form these doubles teams ?
Man B - They draw them so that everyone that plays in doubles has a risk to get a bad partner.
Man C - Donīt think so. I heard they pick their partners themselves
Man B - Youīre wrong.
Man A - So ?
Man B - They make a draw and watch with whome they play with
Man C - No they donīt !
Man B - Yes they do (clearly on upper level at that company)
Man C - Ok then :(

Didnīt bother to correct them :D (Suits  )

Sure there is. That the lefty without an albatross around her neck is doing alright! ;)

The number of crowd is really disappointing this year. Last year the tournament catched 10 000 spectators during 9 days. Maybe there will be around 13 000 this year but it isn't too much. However, this is WTA world class tennis.

And don't look at me; I was there on Monday and Tuesday :)
