c'mon jaslyn she looked promising a few years ago but somehow lost her way.

Jaslyn has a great draw, she's already beaten the 5th seed Irina Boulykina this year who she'll most likely face in the 2nd round.

Jaslyn had a reasonable junior career winning the Italian Junior Open I think and a few others. Unfortunately for her she has been plagued by injuries to her knees and stomach/abdominals since moving out of juniors to seniors.

She does have a reasonable game, her weakness is really her serve, she doesnt do nearly enough with it. She is a fighter like Lleyton, I saw her battle through a match last year at Rebecq $10k where she was in a lot of pain and to her credit she gutsed out the win.

Hasnt been easier for her to live in the shadows of her brother. At the Australian Open a few years ago, Jaslyn was playing 1st round qualies when her dad said to her mum, "Our daughter isnt much is she!" This is the same asshole father that used to make Jaslyn jog 5-10kms a day as an 8 year old, thus the reason for her knees flairing up from time to time.

Jaslyn has been ranked inside the top 310 in singles. If she could stay injury free there is no reason why she cant improve on her career high rank of 308

If Jaslyn ever breaks the top 250 I will be pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately I don't see much in her game, but who knows she might surprise me one day...

Whilst I agree that her father is a complete twat, I think some of those reports have been a little over exaggerated

Wouldnt her knees be super strong if she joged 5-10 ks a day

jaslyn really needs to fix that serve it was the reason she got flogged 6060 by coetzer in sydney that time it is absolutely pathetic

Elke is 18 born in January 1985
Jaslyn is the same age as Kim, 4months older actually, born in February 1983

I think having Lleyton as her brother and Kim as her brothers girl frend must be tough, seeing all there achievements and stuff. But Kim and Jaslyn seem to get along very well, but i have only seen them at davis cup ties

Good Luck to Jaslyn in GB :bounce:

Not at all, that amount of jogging in her growing years would place extreme strain and impact on the knee joints.

The serves not great and when I last saw her, her groundies looked a bit slappy and flat. The day i saw her they went in !!!!!! but Ive wondered if they'll carry her anywhere.

i saw Jaslyn lose 2-6 0-6 to Marissa Irvin at Sydney quallies. To be honest she was by far the worst performer i saw there. Every element of her game needs refinement IMO.

She did generate a good amount of topspin but her balls were short and she was toyed with. She has nothing to attack with. Top 250 is pushing it IMO.

must of re-injured it

She broke her arm or wrist. It probably didnt heal properly, she came back quite quickly and the stress she would have put on it would have been high!

Its such a shame, she is still yet to have an injury free year since joining the senior circuit from juniors. She shouldve been top 250 now if it werent for injuries this year

Has anyone ever seen Jaslyn play? i saw her a few years ago & was surpried to see her reach the top 400 years later. She must've put in a heap of work since then. One thing that always stayed in my mind the week I saw her (she lost in qualifying for both singles & dub's in this challenger) was that I saw her do absolutely no fitness work whatsoever. Other players were constantly jogging & working out. Jaslyn just sat there the whole time watching other matches or eating day after day.
This is probably why she's struggled to come back. I have a feeling she's not that motivated!!

Saw her play in Bendigo 4 or so years ago and was she played great. Slapped her groundies everywhere, scrambled everything back and was able to beat Pavlina Nola (top 100 player) and pushed McQuillan 6-4 in the 3rd.

But that was a good day!

Now the groundies have no work and are flat without much sting, the serve is average and she is pretty injury prone now - which according to some on this board due to poor training regime when she was younger.
