She needs to win this match...

I hope Alex loses this, not only because I fucking hate her attitude and I'd love to see how she explains a loss like that, but perhaps that might be the final straw to get rid of that bitch mother Samantha and get a real coach who can get her tail in gear.

I wish I could see this match on tv

If she loses she probably will say she did not practice enough or something like that but I really can't see Alex losing to the 14 y o on hard courts. Alex hits more aces than anybody on tour consistently. She just needs to control her errors and lose some weight. She and Monica Seles are in the same boat.

i don't know if she will lose. but she seems to fight sometimes now when she does lose whereas a couple of years ago she ever fought but at least she tries sometimes. lina wasn't playing great and was feeling ill so the win might not be as big as we think. still their is quie a good chance that kutuzova could beat stevenson.

Alex beat in Stanford, and lost to Dokic, got injured, and rested a week. Now she's back playing an unknown ukranian.. I really think Alex has a good chance to win. I don't see Alex losing to a 14 year older girl too, but she's injured, and you don't know with her too... She's so inconsistent. One week she plays like a top 20 and in another like a top 200.

I think Viktoria has a good chance too. She played a match and is ready to play a not-in-form-injured Alex.. But I don't.

I think it'll be interesting

Not! ESPN sucks!

viktoria said she likes hard-hitting baseline rallies. Alex will give her topspin backhands and net approaches. so not her favorite style but Alex is so inconsistent so who knows?

Alex made it past "bye"?? I had predicted "bye" to win easily 6-3, 6-2. Guess I was wrong.

She shouldn't. This girl isn't someone like Sharapova. Alex should blast this girl off in a minute.

Alex is a marshmellow head.

She continues to go through the motions. I expect nothing less from her than a defeat. She appears slow minded and slow around the court.

I don't see any of her light bulbs going off around her(hence keeping her mom as coach) so expect a 2/6 3/6 loss to Alex.

congrats to the kid.

P.S. This is my new tatic..stating crap about Alex and hoping I am proved wrong. rotflmao come on Alexandra shut me down.

LOL @ Knizzle! Well, Viktoriya proved that she can play serious tennis, so there's definitely a chance that she upsets Alex.

Hey! The 14 year old has nothing to lose. So why not go out and give it your all! Attitude is such an advantage, especially against a player like Alex. She likes to fold easily. I think that she'll probably lose. But you know what?! I don't really care!! :p

I guess Alex losing this should be a good thing also. That will really get her seriously thinking.

at the same age, Maria was pretty much similar
Vika's grown to 5'7 and has a pretty good groundies
but i don't think she'll beat Alex, unless Alex is hampered or having a stinker.

They wouldn't have given her a WC if she couldn't.

if its on TV, get ready to be impressed, but one swallow doesn't make a summer.

Alexandra needs to get her act together, only a slight adv. Alex, but only just.

Fantastic

Alex should win. She's bigger, stronger and more experienced. She'll shoot herself if she loses to a kid. And well, maybe she should if she loses.

Quote of the week ;)

Anyway...Alex losing won't surprise me AT ALL. But honestly, she should be the firm favorite (should).

In a couple months maybe....when she is ranked where she should be.

Look, it's obvious she can play. And has talent. But putting it all together has never been one of her strong points...and I doubt it ever will be

What, the people ranked below her who've been beating up on her all year?

Stevenson's ranking is 100% due to her indoor season last year. When those points come off, her ranking will die.

A 14 year old beat Chris Evert, in Evert's prime. Alex can certainly lose to a 14 year old.

Who do you mean, Volcana? I certainly don't remember Chris Evert EVER losing to a 14 year old! The only possibilities I can think you might mean are Austin and Jaeger, neither of whom came close to beating Chris when they were 14, and Monica, who didn't beat Chris till she was 15... and if you DO mean Monica, well in 1989 Chris was WAY past her prime!!

Not so fast Glenn. Where are you going to hide if Alex wins?

Also why are you against all the Black players and Black players' fans?

Alex will win, it's really pathetic to see Alex add another lose to her record this year, her winning % would probably drop to a new low if she fails to win this one.:haha:

With a piss weak field, this is Alex's perfect chance to get somehing cooking this week.

Volcana,

As Declan pointed out, what 14-year-old beat Chris in her prime. The only 14-year-old I remember beating Chris was Monica Seles, Chris's last year on the tour. And then Chriss drubbed her 0-2 in the U.S. Open a few months later for her last win on the Tour!

But as I said earlier: Monica had turned 15 the December before her victory over Chris in Houston in 1989 anyway!

Considering she looses to EVERYbody else, why would she discriminate against a 14-year-old?

Are you a fan of Alex because she's half white?
Also if I stay away or not is my business! What does that have to do with you?

As Volcana pointed out, 14 year olds can cause a lot of trouble.

For instance, a 14 year old Gabriela Sabatini :hearts: beat three top ten players in the same week at Hilton Head in 1985.

A 14 year old JenCap decimated the field at Boca Raton in her first tournament before losing to - who was it, oh yes Gabriela Sabatini .

The 14 year old I had in mind was Tracy Austin, who was of course, 16 when she beat Chris at Avon.
