I know it's been talked about ad nauseum, but what would you do in her shoes- she hasn't been a real legitimate contender for a title since the 1998 French Open, and seems to be just playing between injuries for the past 2 years, and not getting any younger...

? your reaction to Seles results since 1998, or the reaction to how long it takes her to get from one side of the court to the other?

I'm yawning because as you indicated this topic is way beyond over talked about... Who cares? If you don't like her, why do you care that she is not playing right now, and in your opinion, not a threat to win. If she's not gonna factor for you, why do you care?

I'm just glad that she ever came back in 1995. Period. Everything since then has been gravy.

And why only bash her? There's loads of players that haven't won majors since 1996, or ever for that matter.

Should they all retire too?

Is tennis really only about slamming? It can't be fun for the players?

I'm not saying this sarcastically, because I really do like Monica Seles- I've seen her play many, many times- from the 1990 Madison Square Garden Final all the way through a painful loss to Hingis at Indian Wells just a few years back. PAINFUL is the word. She is not just any player- she is one of the few who have been #1 for an extensive period of time. How much fun can it be for her to just go out there and hit with the knowledge not just that she'll never win a major again, but she'll continue to lose to players she should be beating. If she just wants to have fun- there's World TeamTennis and hey, after a few years and a boyfriend, the Legends tour. Anything but going out ala Arantxa Sanchez Vicario- please!!!

She always says she'll play til she doesn't enjoy it anymore. That could be a while. One of the best doubles players on the tour is 46. And I notice Conchi has been top 15 again for a while.

Why? Arantxa went out on her own terms. That's EXACTLY how Monica should go out. When and where SHE wants to.

she needs to fully recover from this injury, take lots of time off, get back in shape..and see hwo it goes. she COULD win a major again if she was going to dedicate herself to it. good example is thisUS open...if she had recovered properly some time ago she could be here contending.

I think that if shes going to play tennis, she should play tennis you know?

but like I always say

Never count out a champion

oh and about ASV, no she shouldn't go out like her
losing to everyone and their momma, but she should go out on her terms...but not 0-6 1-6

Well she hasn't actually been losing alot of tennis matches, but it's more her having to withdrawal from injury. She is still capable of beating many opponents.

I say come back and play the game and stop when the enjoyment is no longer there. (which is usually when you start to lose alot)

So right now the answer is NO!
