She is committed for qualifying...
She deserves a WC, but you know that they are going to give them to Canadians who will be lucky if they win more than a game.

How do you 'deserve' a wildcard? Isn't the point of wildcards to give spots to players who WOULDN'T get in on merit? The only way to 'deserve' a wildcard is to not need one.

*applause* Anyways it was Sprem's decision to play in Helsinki...and a Tier IV being in that...practicing on the hardcourts this week instead of trying to play clay this week and then hard next week might have been a better decision. Even if she doesn't make the semis...a quick surface change although not totally extreme I believe would be a challenge for this young player.

Well, she is just trying to gain some points on her fave surface...

I cant wait to check her out at the Open...

i reckon she will be a pretty good player, certainly top 50. but she's meant to have a huge game and a huge serve which goes far in womesn tennis these days.

about the question, i think she'll have to pull out of the qualies cause you can't retire from a tournament unless you are ill or injured.

*If* she makes SF in Helsinki, I expect her to stay put and withdraw from Canada.... she opted for SF at Strasbourg instead of quallies for Roland Garros. Then she can try to win Helsinki, come to North america and practice on hardcourts *(her preferred surface, btw)* and get ready for the US Open.
